Good album for Shadowrun music:
KMFDM, SYMBOLS.

Requiem for a dream Remixed!
-
Final Fantasy Techno Remixes. . .
-
any of the german industrial bands work well.
KMFDM, or it's remix MDFMK are good choices.
Ramstine is also nice.
(nothing says shadowrun like a death-metal band doing a cover of aqua's 'barbie girl')

True. Or 'Die Eier von Satan' (sp?), which is a guy reading aloud a baking recipy in german. But he's growling, and he has a metal band backing him.
Other favorites include NIN (The Downward Spiral for preferance), Ministry (Psalm 69), or basically any other industrial/metal music. You know, whatever's at hand. ;)

Wumpscut Albums Evoke and Emryodead.
I went and downloaded a song by Robbie Robertson (of U2 fame) called "The Ghost Dance" off the album "Music for Native Americans"
Interesting really.

so, does that have a lot of references to a booze problem, coupled with a hate of the white-man, and the problems asociated with owning a casino?

Nope.

The last showdow we had Ballroom Blitz just happened to be playing and for some reason is now inextricably twisted together with SR for me.

Sorry, that song will always be associated with Waynes World for me. ;D

I'd have to say you cant go wrong witht he cool world soundtrack and if you want a specific song that nails Shadowrun it's Depeche Mode's "Agent Orange"
dead perfect
if you want something "different" you can always go for the Bladerunner soundtrack

I've always actually kind of preferred 90's 'dirty' rock for the Shadowrun feel.
Bush's "Mouth" is a good example.
I always thought that it incorporated the near-future dystopia feel very well.
