not too sure about this one

I am- Nick Cage is a huge ghostrider fan and one of the few celebrity voices that kept asking for a superman movie to be made. He's such a huge comic book fan that he actually named his boy "Kal-El."
So if he's the creative force behind it, you have Some assurance that it'll be good.

guess I'll take your word for it. A super nerd who names his kid afrter superman has to get it right...i think
-
Actually, I want to see this one. Any movie where Nicholas Cage's head bursts into flame is one I want to be at. ;) Besides, the trailer did look pretty cool. I guess we'll just have to wait until next year and see.
Gabriel
-
well my only complaint so far is I think cage is a bit to old for the part
-
eh. I never read much in the Ghostrider fandom. I think I've got one issue with him in it, but it was a crossover with a bunch of other titles. The movie looks interesting, but I couldn't say how accurate anything would be.
-
yea, same here. never was much into the rider
-
Nicholas Cage = Huge Fan.
Let's peruse some other huge fans who made comic book movies.
Richard Donner - Superman (1979)
Sam Raimi - Spiderman, Spiderman II
Bryan Singer - XMen, X2, Superman Returns (2006)
Robert Rodriguez - Sin City (even if you didn't like the movie, you have to admit it was a faithful adaption)
Brett Ratner - X3
Movies where fans WEREN'T involved with the movie:
Pitof - Catwoman
Julian Grant - Electra
Ang Lee - The Hulk (weird little asian guy... and he made Brokeback Mountain right after... I don't even know what to make of that)
The only exception that I can see is Daredevil, which was made with the help of huge fans (pretty much every writer for Daredevil for the last 20 years was in it, from Frank Miller to Kevin Smith), and I think the exception proves the rule.
When a fan of a genre makes a film in the genre, it's going to be a far superior film. (crossover examples- Sergio Leone and westerns, Peter Jackson and fantasy/ape movies)

never said it wouldnt be and cage is a heck of a actor just saying I think he is a bit old for the oart
:mercy:

I want to see how the Bible Thumpers are going to react to the idea of making a deal with the devil (and getting double crossed) and then having demonic powers turned to the good of mankind. I think the De Vinci crowd will come out on this one too.
And speaking of Ghost Rider, have any of you read the latest Limited Series that was published for this character? Garth Ennis (who did Preacher) did the books and they were pretty damn cool. The art was fantastic, and the ending was a kick in the nadgers. I have been told that there will be a new series launched for this book. Yee-haw!

nope sure didn't
-
I never read Ghostrider - my hell based comics are limited to Hellbalzer and I demand a remake on that piece of shit.
As for Cage, he's only ever rater an 'eh' on my scale of good actors. So as far as I'm concerned, this looks like a wait for cable kind of movie.
-
I'll prolly do the same.
-
Cable?? They're making a Cable movie???? How exaclty do you get the whole "my parent aren't realy my parents, but they rasied me a million years in the future, and I happen to have a doppelganger from an alternate future running around with me at the same time" thing into 2 hours???
Gabriel
-
dude, your joking, right?
-
Actually I think I read Zone's post a bit too fast. I thought she said she is waiting for a Cable movie. I think, after rereading it, that she was saying she would wait until the movie got to cable. So yeah, I guess I was kidding. I just wish I'd have known I was doing it. ;)

LOL
And yes I'm laughing at you, not with you ;D
-
ROFL!!!! You got a karma for that one Zone :)
-
Dammit! It's a conspiracy I tell you, A CONSPIRACY!!!! Trying to confuse and humiliate poor, poor Gabriel like that. As if I can't do that well enough on my own. ;)

Isn't that like the saying, "Never argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience." or something?

You've been talking to Jester too long.
Gabriel

Okay, guys, conspiricy meeting at IHOP next Friday

You know what they say about IHOP's and doughnut shops. . .
-
(Movie quote time)
"Waffles. We must all have waffles forthwith!"
-kv
-
I've never been to IHOP. What's the big deal?
-
Well, the food is pretty damn good, and they are open 24/7 at most locations. Think Waffle House without all the grease. Of course, the prices ar e little higher, but it's good stuff none the less.
Gabriel
-
sweet, might have to check one out
-
Just don't do it on a Sunday morning or you will have to get on the waiting list.
Anyway, has anyone seen Nicholas Cage there lately???
Gabriel
-
Wow... Gabe is getting us back on topic?
Err... I mean, no I have not seen Nicholas Cage there.
-
I've never been to IHOP. What's the big deal?
I never had either until they built one near by and Gabe's right, for chain food its aces, and there is a lot there for those of us on a buget. EVERYTHING comes with three pancakes on the side.
As for Curris' link, my favorite bit was: "have this Gringo beaten and sodomized" Now there's a conversation ender. I want Nicholas Cage to deliver that line in his next movie
-
Wow... Gabe is getting us back on topic?
I know. I'm scared too :kenny: And as for Zone enjoying street samurai's getting sodomized, well I guess Kid_Vid isn't the only one with the gay troll fetish. ;)
Gabriel

...
-
So... yeah... flaming skull and motor bike...
Gabriel
-
yea, looks kinda like a crappy movie
-
You think?? I'm gonna give it a shot. Who knows, it might turn out to bew the next Spiderman. I may be goig to see X3 tonight, so I bet the trailer will be playing with that movie. I kind of want to see it all big-screen.
Gabriel
-
That's where I saw the trailers for Superman Returns and Ghostrider.
They both look awesome. I also enjoyed X3.
-kv
-
I heard you'll see it there also
-
I saw the Ghostrider trailer at X3, but got there late enought I didn't catch most of the previews.
I guessed (correctly) what it was almost as soon as I linked "Marvel" with "Guy on motorcycle". Then they showed the flaming skull.
-
I'm sondering who the flaming horseman is that appears riding beside GR. I dont' know enough about he comics to recognize him. I'm also wondering if they are going to show GR smack someone with his Penance Stare. I love that power.
For those of you who don't know what it is, this is how it works. Since Ghost Rider is a demon who can only appear to seek retribution as a force of vengance, it has the ability to make anyone it fights experience all of the pain he's ever caused anyone in one big, nasty moment. GR just locks eyes (or eye sockets) and the victim goes through all that right then and there. I don't think it's lethal, but it sure is NASTY. Just imagine reliving all the pain you've ever caused everyone else from their point of view. OUCH!
Gabriel
-
Maybe it was his predecessor?
-
Maybe. Although in the new GR limited series that just came out, the Ghost Rider did eventually get taken down to hell and was trying to get out again. Each night he road across the planes of hell trying to reach the gates, and each night he ended up getting cuaght by one demon or another and torn to pieces so that he would have to do it all over again the next night. So maybe he's racing the guy trying to get out of hell??
Gabriel
-
acturaly i think the horse back rider is the former gr and is acting as a mentor like the angel/old man in spawn
-
Like I said: His predecessor.
-
Sounds as good as any other theory. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
