Really good movie. Great CG. Oh yea, it's a cliffhanger :) part 3 will be out next year
-
This is one that I really would like to see at the theater.

I highly reccommend it. It's got the same flair as the last one, but a VERY DIFFFERENT storyline. I mean, the way I saw it, the last movie took place mostly on the water, and then some on the land (tortuga, port royal, the island), and this one takes place a lot more on the land, and a little bit on the water.
Plus, Jack's Escape and the fight on the waterwheel were both AWESOME!

You know, I was sooo pissed off the other day.
I'd gone to see Hoodwinked (cute, but... well, just cute), and they showed a rather long and explicit commercial for a piece of toy based on the second pirates move, which has not yet had its premier night in this town.
-
You have toy commercials at the movies?? Cool!

Appearantly Hoodwinked'd been classified as a children's movie.
-
Yeah, it doesn't hit Japan until July 22nd (which coincidently is my B-day as well). ;D
-
Congrats in advance then, scales.
-
didn't that movie go to DVD already here?
-
The movie of Apacalypse's birthday?? Not until sometime in the early 2030's I think. ;)

haha, very funny

Aren't you maybe thinking of the first movie?
-
I believe he was talking about Hoodwinked. As far as I know, there is only the one.
Gabriel
-
Ah, quite possible.
If so, you're right.
-
yea, hoodwinked
-
I can wait for DVD.
I was okay with the first one in that its basically a comic book, I could suspend my disbelief for the curse, for the zombies, for everything except the end. 18th century British establishment would NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES let a pirate simply go. That irritated me no end when they could have had real spiffy escape a la Nate and Hayes

Oh please, like Disney would ever NOT have a happy/goofy ending like that. I thought it was a bit silly, too, but still, I didin't think it killed the movie.

Actually, at the beginning of the second one (the only part of the movie that felt really rushed), you find out that Norrington lost his commission because of it, and ended up in Tortuga.

That makes no sense. A jingoist like Norrington wouldn't end up as a damn pirate. But I bet you'll see him again. And since I haven't seen this movie yet, who knows if he makes an apperance.

My point being that it would have been better if they did a happy/goofy escape and not bogged everything down with the farewell crap.
See Nate and Hayes. Its goofy but a hell of a lot of fun. Best peg leg ever.

I've heard of Nate and Hays, but I've never seen it. I assume it's a pirate movie???

Yes, give us details so that we may find it!

It is a fairly obscure little film but I do seem to like the type. Its just been released to DVD so its available if you just look around a bit.

Ok, I just saw Dead Man's Chest, and I have to say that I liked the original movie much better than this one. It was good, and the graphics and special effects were MUCH better than the first, but it seemed to me like that was really the only thing that lived up to, and surpassed the original. The characters were kind of, I don't know, flat I guess. They didn't develop at all, just kept up with the same shtick as the original. Now, I did like the action (although the mill wheel scene was just stupid) and the different environments, but all in all, I would have to give this movie a C.
Of course, it is blindingly obvious that, and not only from the cliff-hanger ending, that this was written as a 2-part movie, so maybe the development will be postponed to the third installment. A set-up movie would be fine as long as #3 delivers the real punch. I would recomend seeing it if for no other reason as a prelude to part 3.

PS - Undead monkey = DAMN GOOD BARGAINING CHIP!!!!! :ruski:

I see my resolution to wait for DVD has not wavered after your review :)
-
Well, to be honest, it does lend itslef to the big screen if for no other reason than the special effects, but yeah, if you decided to wait I don't think you'd regret it.
