Title: Insanity Ideas
Post by: Gabriel on August 15, 2006, 12:16:54 PM
Ok Chummer,

Here's the deal. I am running a Warhammer 2nd Edition RPG campaign right now and my PC's are starting to build up some insanity points. Now, as those of you familiar with the systems know, once a PC reaches 6 Insanity Points, they roll againts Willpower. If they fail, the get a random Disorder. If they pass, they roll every time the get a new Insanity Point until they fail, then they get a disorder. Now, in 1st edition, they listed a pretty good amount of disorders including phobias and manias, but in 2nd Edition, they only have 10, one of which is deamonic possession (which makes no sense at all to me) but nothing really comprehensive. So I am trying to find some better insanities to throw at my PC's when they finally go around the bend.

So I am asking all of you to chip in with some helpfull disorders. However, I would like some game-mechanic examples as well as good ideas. I know you all may not have played WFRP2, but you all game, so just wing it a bit.

To start things off, I have a disorder called Alien Hand Syndrome that I am trying to figure out how to run. Anyone who has ever seen Dr. Strangelove knows how AHS works, but I am having trouble thinking of how to put it into the game and keep it interesting. Let me know if any of you have any brainwaves about this or any other cool/funny/evil/nasty disoreders.

Hmmm... Dr. Strangelove?

Maybe make them have to make a perception test (spot check) to notice thier 'other' hand taking action against them; i.e. strangulation, trying to grab for a knife... stuff like that.

Only give the hand a 'half action,' so it'll only act when the character isn't paying attention to it.

Hahhaa... a strength test vs. the targets own strength. ;D

What about berserkers?  At lower levels, they'd have trouble breaking away from combat, higher levels, they'd have to make a check to know the difference between friend and foe.

Go to your shelf. Find your copy of Call of Cthulhu.
Open it on the index.
Use the index to find the 2 most important pages in the book.
Apply.
