This thread has now hit 223 pages.
It is now locked.
Go make a new one (or several - and then stay on topic, please).
Stay on Topic? ROOTless, the Paddin' thread was for PADDING A POST COUNT. Therefore, ANYTHING is on topic. So, this is a thread specifically designed for talking about drek. Plane and simple. Post anything you like. The topic is Innane Chatter. Have fun everyone.

Stay on Topic? ROOTless, the Paddin' thread was for PADDING A POST COUNT. Therefore, ANYTHING is on topic. So, this is a thread specifically designed for talking about drek.
I never claimed that the paddin' thread went off-topic, merely that if you created several new thread, some of which would then be expected to have actual topics, it might be nice if you stayed on-topic in such threads as had topics.
Now: for the topic of this thread: Gabe.
-
Yay! I'm the center of attention!
Wait a minute. That's probably not a good thing for a shadowrunner. Damn your evil mechanations, ROOTless. :gabe: :root:

Okay, going back to what Gabe said at the end of the Paddin Thread, I think Lucas copped out too- I mean, he didn't turn down the money from the action figures, lightsabers, or stuff on TV. I include the 1970-something Star Wars Christmas special among his list of war crimes, along with BOTH of the little kid Endor movies. He will pay for those. Oh yes, he will pay.
But I think it's a huge cop-out to take the money, approve the books, and then say that they don't matter- that they don't actually reflect the world, because you were too busy swimming through money like Scroog McDuck to write it yourself.
And why didn't he write it himself, you ask? Because basically everything he's written since the original Star Wars trilogy sucked. The christmas specials, the original cartoon, even the prequels- they were trite and filled with characters who made great action figures, but for some really drekky characters.
If he keeps this up, I'm going to have to put him on my list of least favorite directiors, right after Uwe Boll.

Watch out there, Kid_Vid. You don't want to make threats you can't back up. ;)
Gabriel (I want to see that list, in hard copy)

My list of hated directors?
Uhhh... it's pretty short at this point. I don't bother to remember the names of directors that suck- they have to suck and be passionate about it, and keep making horrible movies.
Uwe Boll is currently the only director that ranks on the list. I dislike MANY other directors (Roman Polanski for being a child molestor, Oliver Stone for being so damn preachy, so on and so forth) they don't rank worthy of hate to me.
Uwe Boll, on the other hand, does. His movies are poorly scripted, directed, edited, and shot. They suck. They're based on video-game franchises with built-in fans, and he still manages to make no money on them, and for some suprising reason, they keep letting him make movies. Not only more movies, but bigger movies- more expensive movies.
This is aside from the inexplicable plot changes- why did house of the dead take place on an island? Why did it not actually contain anything from the game itself, aside from the names of three characters?
When Uwe Boll was asked why he changed everything, he responded "It's a zombie movie- no one cares," but apparently someone did, because the movie was a spectacular failure at the box office.
Bloodrayne, known for its herione and gratuitous violence, contained little of either. Sir Ben Kingsley, apparently working on repaying his deal with the devil, agreed to appear in the movie, which was so horrible that the studio still hasn't managed to re-make the 200 million they sunk into the production.
And yet, they continue to let him make movies. His next flop- Dungeon Seige, followed by "Postal," the game made famous when someone objected to the fact that you could desecrate corpses by beheading them, and then pissing on the brainstems.
Okay, and the icing on the cake- Uwe Boll blames the bad pubilicity that internet forums give his movies for the failures. He says it because of thier negative hype that people don't show up like lemmings to pay $10 a pop to watch this drivel.
He was so sure of this, in fact, that he staged an exhibition boxing match (Boll, although a mediochre direction, was a semi-pro boxer back in the day). Apparently he felt that beating some skinny white kids would give him back his 'street cred.'
So he fought four 198 pound forum posters. Three of them had never badmouthed his movies, although they frequented sites that he had said ruined his career. The fourth was a 16 year old kid- arguably with the most training any of these candidates had recieved, with six whole months of training under his belt.
So Boll, the 42 year old director, punched some nerds a few times. After he had beaten them, he bragged "I gave them brain damage! They love my movies now!" ...which seems like something insulting rather than a boast, but I guess if it makes him happy...
Anyway, he's the only director I hate.
-kv
-
Nice tirade! Of course, seeing as how you keep up with this guy enough to quote him on several occasions, I think that technicly makes you a fan as well. Sorry, but it's the Howard Stern Syndrome: a person who hates a celebrity obsesivly watches/listens to said celebrity, then tells everyong about it, thus increasing the popularity of the celebrity they hate. It kind of sucks.
Gabriel
PS - That's still only one name, so I don't think it's really a "list" per se. :P
-
I find it hard to belive that Drek Drek Binks would make a decent action figure. In fact, I can think of nothing at all redeeming about... whatever the hell it is. >:(
That's a pretty interesting story about Uwe Boll.... considering the philosophy of 'If I don't like someone, I beat them up' that he portrayed by kicking the snot out of some defenceless guys who read someone else's opinion, I'm surprised he didn't manage to put some violence into Bloodrayne.
I'd have to disagree with your statement that 'obviously someone cares' about zombie movies though, Kid - if anyone cared, they would have actually gone to see it. Or maybe they just don't care about Uwe... that's probably more likely.
-
Speaking of zombie movies, has anyone seen s"Special Dead"? It's about a zombie plague that hits a special ed camp out in the woods. I've seen the previews on the matrix, but I cant' tell if it was a spoof, indy movie, or limited release.

Ignoring Gabe's topic changer, I know tha Lucas did approve and beatify the Thrawn Trilogy and Shadows of the Empire... but nothing else. He even went so far as to say that yeah Luke established some kind of academy but it wasn't on yavin. In short, if he doesn't like the way things are going in EU, stop issuing approvals! And what's all this drek about he OWNS every single character ever introduced into any officially liscenced game? Thats chutzpah taken to a new and disgusting level.
-
yea, lucas is a douche. It's really hard to comment now that everyone else said what I was thinking. So, kudos!
-
Wait, he owns every character? Even Revan and Malak and Sidious and all those characters from the Knights of the Old Republic games?
That... that just doesn't seem right.
-
And what about all those Fanfic OC's, RPG characters...
-
Wow, that would be like Bill Gates saying he owns everything that touches Windows.
Yeah... that's about the scale you'd be looking at. :/
-kv
-
Wow, that would be like Bill Gates saying he owns everything that touches Windows.
That... sounds familiar...
-
Yeah really. Greed begets greed, and George Lucas begest stupidity and a total ignorance of free advertising.

I'm just looking down the list o' threads and I wonder how many folks are going to look at this one and say what the hell is an 'innane'? I mean if Root didn't jump all over that one somebody had to. ;D
-
HEY! That's just mean.
Gabriel
-
I'm just looking down the list o' threads and I wonder how many folks are going to look at this one and say what the hell is an 'innane'? I mean if Root didn't jump all over that one somebody had to. ;D
Ah, the double 'n' in Gabe's 'Innane' title?
Yes, well, he did mention that he suffered from dyslexia, so I figured it'd be rude to comment upon it. ;)
-
Holy drek! ROOTless actually cut me a break! That made my day.
Gabriel
PS - I know you missed that spelling error, ROOTless, but I'll back you up on your story. ;)
-
yea, Root's growing a heart of sorts
-
hope it doesn't hurt too much
-
LOL!
Gabriel
-
Psh! Hunny is dyslexic too and I mess with him; so Gabe is pretty much meat ;D But as Hunny would say: 'Dyslexics of the World Untie!'
-
LOL! Ain't it the Dog-damned truth!
Gabriel
-
Does an insomniac, dyslexic atheist ever lie awake wondering if there's a dog?
-
Actually, we've already pondered that profound question. The answer is "on". ;)
Gabriel
-
lol, you guys are nuts
-
And that's surprising, why?
-
i never said I was suprised. Just making an observation
-
TOAST!
-
Well, that was certainly inane.
-
CRACKERS!!
-
Well, Innane is the name of the game! This counts as on-topic!
-kv
-
Indeed. And clearly, it pads post-counts as well, so it even fulfills the second part of the topic.
-
Damn right! No topic is too obscure! No conversation too inane! No missspling too blatent! :mercy:
Gabriel
-
GRAVY!
-
TRAIN!!
-
Damn I just wanted to post something in this thread!
-
So go for it. This thread, no one'll stop you or get mad if it doesn't follow what the previous post was.
-
Exactly. And you can get your post count high here so that you get your own title and smiley.
Gabriel
-
I want a biscuit!
-
Oh shut up you old fart. Go eat your nice soft Twinkie. By the way, no one wished Jester a Happy Birthday. Even though he was born on one of the biggest holidays on the planet. Which holiday you might ask? Well Groundhog's Day of course! Happy Groundhog Jester Day!!!
Gabriel (who didn't forget but was too lazy to remember to call)
-
Yeah Happy Groundhog Jester Day or whatever Gabe said. Wow I just noticed I hit 50 on my posts. Only 9049 more to go after this one...
-
Good start so far. Keep going and you'll be the next Ruski.
Gabriel
-
I figure if I reply a few times to every post even if what I say makes no sense, I'll be up there in no time! ;D
-
And that is why we started the original Paddin' thread: so that we could get to post-count up without having to derail the topic under discussion.
Gabriel
-
Ahhh... Ruski... if any thread deserves mention of him, the inane chatter thread does. ;D
-kv
-
Tell that lazy slitch to get off his hoop and post once in a while.
Gabriel
-
Yeah, well, it took me less than a year to hit the one thou' mark. The Picture Assossiation thread helped a lot.
-
I never could find much that was G-Rated for that thread. :-\
Gabriel
-
that's because your mind is aways in the gutter. I had no problems with it
-
I will quote Mudge the Otter; "I like the gutter. It's nice and warm and you meet the most interesting people there." ;)
Gabriel
-
Ah... like I used to tell my friends in high school, "Get your mind out of the gutter! There's not room down there for all of us!"
-kv
-
I'd like to see how your mind works when it's in the gutter.
Gabriel
-
Nope. Never again. I can live without thinking that stuff anymore- I don't need to be all addicted to anything or push my addictions on other people- how drunk think that everyone else can't hold thier liquor, and perverts think everyone else is into the same stuff they are.
I think I'll just be me. I might on occaison be a little perverted, but I try and keep things pretty clean.
-kv
-
I know, that's why I find the idea of you gutter-brained so interesting. Maybe I'll as Elena V in a year or so. ;)
Gabriel
-
About a year and three months, or so.
-kv
-
Oh?
-
Apparently Kid_Vid is going to get freaky on his honeymoon.
Gabriel
-
Yeah... since... you know... that's what honeymoons are for.
-kv
-
HELL YEAH CHUM!!!
-
bow chika bow bow
-
I thought honeymoons were for ending up tired and cranky after feeding a ton of people you will never see again until one of your dies and having to lug all of the presnts home before getting to the airport late to find that one of you is on some fraggin' government list and the time it takes to be "randomly" searched makes you miss your flight so all you ever really get is a hand-job in the airport bathroom.
Gabriel
-
Voice of experience?
-
Apparently that was my parent's honeymoon. :-\ I'm not married yet.
Gabriel
-
Oh drek that must've been one heck of an experience. Hmmm...hand-job in the airport bathroom. That could be interesting... ;D
-
Yeha, when Gabe gets married, we're sending strip-o-grams.
Some of them might even be women. ;D
-kv
-
Hehehehehe, well the males I'll just give to the wife. What a thoughtfull present from the boys and girls at the Pub. Of course, I haven't forgotten the LACK OF FEMALE STRIP-O-GRAMS when I had heart surgery. So I'm still holding a grudge. :gabe:
Gabriel
-
you didn't get the midget strip-o-gram I sent? Damn, I'm gonna have to call them people up!
-
Or down. They are midgets after all.
Gabriel
-
Yeah, I didn't know if it was the greatest idea for us to send a strip-o-gram to someone who just had heart surgery.
"Gabe... are you there gabe? We haven't heard from you in a while..."
Not like we'd want to email your or PM you about it and ask, just in case it had killed you. That'd be like planting evidence on ourselves!
-kv
-
lol, good point
-
Oh you bastards are just cheap. And I know it. See, if you really had cared, you would have sent one several weeks later. But since I have not seem one at all in the months of my recovery, well, what can I say?
Gabriel
-
We discussed sending you the do it yourself strip o gram kit. But then we figured you must have that down by now ;D
-
LOL, well, I do have an over-developed right bicept. :-\ However, I would have settled for a picture of you with one of those big knives you told me about once. I would have felt much more at home that way. ;)
Gabriel
-
http://www.mavericksdiving.co.uk/fim/equ/cuttingedge/012.jpg
-
Is that a picture of your leg with a knife strapped to it, or your leg with an .... um... marital aid strapped to it??
Gabriel
-
Let's just say its A leg with a knife strapped to it - she didn't need it any more after all...
-
OUCH! See, everyone, THIS is why I never REALLY get on this woman's bad side.
Gabriel
-
I'll have to post a pic of my sword sometime...
-
Please do. What kind is it???
Gabriel
-
Viking replica. I think it's battle ready (although dulled edges), but don't hold me to that.
-
cool, I'd like to see that :)
-
I'll have to post a pic of my sword sometime...
I'll be buying a practice sword in the near future. Which means these (http://www.tozandoshop.com/category_s/145.htm) people (http://www.tozandoshop.com/category_s/144.htm) are kinda holding my money hostage...
-
ooh, nice
-
Yeah, aren't they?
-
Please tell me the Euro is a bit more plentiful that the US Dollar. I can't see spending $40,000 on any sword. But they are really nice.
Gabriel
-
good lord I would imagine so!
-
Please tell me the Euro is a bit more plentiful that the US Dollar. I can't see spending $40,000 on any sword. But they are really nice.
Lol!
I think you got the prices in yen. The currency indicator on the left lets you toggle which currency the prices are given in.
-
OK, that makes more sense. I was starting to think I needed to relocate to Europe and make a ton money. Then move back to the USA and live in riches and women for the rest of my days. ;)
Gabriel
-
OOOOHHHHHH! gotcha, yen
-
So I can post anything I want on here just so I can get my post count up?
-
1 extra post
-
2 extra posts
-
3 extra posts...alright this is getting boring real quick!
-
well drek I will get me posts in to. 1 extra post for me, lol
-
Good gravy, there are nine guests on line! Oh, wait, one just morphed into Gabe...
-
That's me, Baby! I pop up when you're not looking. ;)
Gabriel
-
so do other unsavory things, my friend, but I won't be so crude as to enumerate them ;D
-
Ah, I knew I was feeling something missing today. Turns out it was a kick in the ego. Thak's for helping out there, Z-Girl.
Gabriel
-
;D
-
Dang, four actual members are on...well, three 'cause I have got to book, but still...
-
Ah... It was nice while it lasted.
Gabriel
-
I'm sure you can soldier on without me ;)
-
Of course, but what's the point... :-\
Gabriel
-
OMG you are SO trolling for karma LOL
-
5 users are online right now!!!
-
OMG you are SO trolling for karma LOL
Hey, I gotta get SOMETHING from my favorite rigger other than mysterious burns and lacerations. :zone:
Gabriel
-
See now, I'm gonna be late. I'll threaten you some more latter ;)
-
LOL, have a good one, Z-Girl.
Gabriel
-
It's so entertaining watching you two go back and forth with one another!
-
Like an old not-married couple!
-kv
-
She loves me, what else can I say? ;)
Gabriel
PS - I think you should all chip in for my forthcoming medical bills, by the way.
-
I'll wait and see just how badly she hurts you!
-
Yeah, I mean, why donate 1000 nuyen when the bill's only 500?
-
Course, you can always up the ante if you get shortcharged. And by that I mean, get your money's worth. BYOB, bring your own bat!
-
Yeah, I mean, why donate 1000 nuyen when the bill's only 500?
AJ, my left eyeball costs more than that. And do you really think Zone will stop at a piddling 500 nuyen worth of damage??
Gabriel
-
I'd pay her to keep going
-
With chummers like this, who needs Docwagon?
Gabriel
-
lol
-
See Gabe knows what's up! We're always lookin out for a fellow pubber.
-
And it brings a nice warm glow to my cybernetic heart.
Gabriel
-
;D And that's all that matters!!!
-
I know.
Gabriel
-
That was per person donating.
-
And that's why an underground rep can be a good thing; I seldom have to take actual action ;D
-
Nah, you're just afraid of us real runners out there. ;)
Gabriel
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Okay so point one out :P
-
I just did, chummerette. ;)
Gabriel
-
+1 TO MY POST
Sorry just addin an extra post, as well as clearing the air between you too...I can feel the tension slowing down my high speed connection over here!
-
so, how long does everyong think it'll take for this thread to hit 100 pages?
-
probably not that long at this rate
-
Well I could just keep postin my +1 comment until we hit 100 pages...
-
That... might have unforseen consequenses.
-
What's the worst that can happen?
-
They padlock the thread and then it wanders off to die in the forgotten thread graveyard...
-
Pretty much, yeah. Didn't we just have this discussion in the old Paddin' thread?
-kv
-
I wasn't around for the old one...
-
Yeah, we did. I think it was decided to keep it so those of us who used the old one to pad could outpost pb
-
pad

pad
-
hehe, only a few more posts and I'll move up another spot in the total post ranking.
-
lol, you're gonna catch up with me
-
I'm a long shot from everyone :(
-
Yeah drek one more post nike and you'll be a FNG!!!
-
I feel guity padding here.
-
Because all of my posts are large informative blocks.
-
I know that if I break them up, I could be at 500 posts now.
-
Buts it's just not my style, you know?
-
For instance, I was here a year before AJStarhiker.
-
Although I was mostly a lurker.
-
She passed me up, and now I feel old.
-
And to end the pad on a funny note. . .
-
I will release the Pad-spambots! Victory will be mine! :P
-
lol, dear lord. that's some serious padding!
-
Pad away. That's what this thread is for. And that's why I started it. There is no "Off Topic" on this board, so don't worry about it. And if anyone kills it, I'll start another one. Have fun with the posts.
Gabriel
-
Oh yeah, this is going to get long-winded...
Gabriel
-
Well, until it gets out of control like the last one, have fun with it. Once it gets out of control, well... we'll close it and start a new one, just like we did here.
-kv
-
Hehehe.

Pad

Anybody else notice there are literally pages of 'members' who haven't made a single post? Some of them are pretty obviously spam account.
-
no, never looked at that
-
Don't worry, that's being addressed.
Gabriel
-
Well, Ingo deleted all but like a hundred of them, but I was looking at the top 15 posters the other day, and I happend to notice that there are 30 pages worth of members.
-kv
-
Well, looks like we have a decker hacking our system. Two guesses who that is.
Gabriel
-
I give up...who do you think it is?
-
I can't think who it could be...
-
could it be...SATAN!
-
That's pretty acurate, Jester. Satan! (http://members.cox.net/gwire/Smily - Fire Devil.gif)
Gabriel
-
Are we being hacked? That so sucks. Only guys with teeny tiny genitalia hack boards.
-
Yeah, I think Gabe already implied it was :pimpboy: when he agreed that it was Satan.
I think he just threw us into the subscription for troll spambots, or something like that, because he's a jerk.
-kv
-
Just mention of the guy causes nasty breakouts.
so I bring forth KNOWLEDGE in regard to our noob...
The Greek goddess Nike was the personification of victory. According to the poet Hesiod, she was the daughter of the Titan Pallas and the Oceanid Styx.
Nike is the sister of three powerful siblings - Zelos (Rivalry), Kratos (Strength), and Bia (Force).
Despite her ancestry, Nike fought on the side of the Olympian gods against the Titans, and thus was considered a manifest representation of the victory of the Olympians.
She symbolized victory in many areas of ancient Greek life, including athletics (perhaps this is why the legendary shoe manufacturer borrowed the name of this goddess) and other contests.
Nike was called Victoria in Roman mythology.
The proper Greek pronunciation of the name Nike is "Nee kay".

Thank You, thank You, this is cool as drek. Where did u get this?
-
+1 for me!!!
I don't think I'll ever get tired of doing that...
-
350 and countin'
-
huh. I didn't notice the sudden increase until after his little visit a few months ago.
-
congrats ;)
-
Well, Zone, I think you just went one step further in validating this thread. Thank you.
And yeah, AJ, I actually mentioned the increase to Ingo a while ago, but it took us a some time to figure out that it really was happening like it is now.
Gabriel
-
man, and I thought nike was just a shoe, lol
-
LOL
-
Thank You, thank You, this is cool as drek. Where did u get this?
Greek Mythology, kiddo. Took it as an elective. A couple of times :)
If you want to search the name just be sure to tag on the word goddess otherwise all you get is shoes.
-
I wonder what kind of sandles Nike wore...
Gabriel
-
why don't u tell me, lol
-
Hey, I may be named after a pissed-off angle, but I haven't ever met any real gods. I'm just wondering if she had tha twierd little swoop on her feet, that's all.
Gabriel
-
LOL, I dunno I can try to look it up..... ;) You were really named after a pissed off angel, :D
-
Gabriel is and angle of the highest host I believe. I've never really done the research on it that I should, but I bet Kid_Vid could tell you all about it.
Gabriel, Herald of Ingo Monk
-
That's cool..I 'll ask him one day ;)
-
Uhhh... I'm right here reading it right now. I could just tell you.
Why, you know what, I think I will!
Gabriel is one of the seven "archangels" of Judaism.
Of the seven archangels, only two are really accepted by modern christianity- Michael and Gabriel. (Sometimes Raphael.)
The archangel Michael was the leader of the hosts of heaven in casting out the devil. He's basically the most noble and brightest angel below Christ himself.
Archangel Gabriel is second only to Michael- in fact, Gabriel worked as the messenger of the lord (angel meaning messenger, and arch meaning chief), so when someone needed to break the news to Zacharias that he was a 75 year old daddy, Gabriel met him in the temple and told him.
Gabriel also the angel who appeared to Joseph in a dream to tell him to stay with Mary, and appeared to Mary herself to tell her that she was going to have a virgin birth and be the mother of the Son of God.
Gabriel is also purported by some religions (mine) to have been Noah during his mortal life, and served as a head of a dispensation of the gospel (Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Christ (Peter), Smith).
But yeah. That's why no one asks me stuff like that.
-kv
-
Not tryin to be rude KV...but what religion do you follow? Cuz I have never heard of Gabriel being Noah in his mortal life, and I'm just curious so I can do some research...
-
I'za Mormon.
-kv
-
I see...they changed a few things in the past few years haven't they?
-
Past few years? Nope, sorry- that's old school doctrine.
Most people don't know a lot about Mormons or thier church, beyond what their pastor (or friends) tell them. More often than not, that stuff is wrong, and as a missionary, I spent a lot of time explaining to people that Mormons aren't living in bunkers in Utah with 15 wives, waiting for Joseph Smith to come back and start the millenium.
-kv
-
Which is what I was getting too...don't they look down on multiple marriages now...and didn't he come out and admit it was all a lie after he was arrested? Please don't think I'm tryin to offend you or start some type of "who's right and who's wrong" debate, I'm simply curious about it...
-
Yeah, we haven't practiced plural marriage since 1890.
Joseph Smith never denied the church, and neither did any of the witnesses who saw the plates of the Book of Mormon. Even though the majority of them left the church in his lifetime (and several of them never returned to it), none of them ever denied it.
Smith was killed by a mob with thier faces painted black, while awaiting trial on false charges (treason), and so was his brother, Hyrum. That was 1844.
-kv
-
Okay maybe I wasn't referring to the same person. So now I need to go do some research and find out his name. He was arrested after he left Utah, he had some drugs (prescription without a valid prescription), multiple wives, and some kind of conspiricy charge. My boss and I got into a huge debate over it...but I don't remember his name...
-
Oh, the one recently? I don't remember his name either, but I think I know who you are talking about.
-kv
-
uhhh..thanks for the info.
-
Ah, K_V, you forgot that Gabriel is supposed to have dictated the Qu'ran to Muhammed.
-
wow, loadsa religion :)
-
And to think I'm an athiest. Hehehehe... I love my name. ;)
Gabriel, Athiest Angle
-
When I was a kid, Mom always let the Mormon missions in, fed them Ginger ale and had a rousing religious debate. She's an habitual Bible scholar just 'cuase she wants to know what everyone thinks. The Jehovas Witnesses never came back after that first time ;D
-
LOL! I wish your mom could show up at my place every once in a while.
Gabriel
-
Be careful what you wish for - I am after all a product of my environment ;D
-
LOL, yeah, but you use testicle-ripping drones. And I bet your mom doesn't. I'd rather get a sharp tongue than a sharp blade any day.
Gabriel
-
I just might send mom south as long as she promises to send back pictures of the quivering mass she reduced you to :D
-
LOL! OK, that's a deal. Of course, you have to send me a drone to defend myself with. That's the deal. ;)
Gabriel
-
Hell, no. You're out there on your own against mom, bucko. I don't go there. 8)
-
Ok, then I'll get my sniper rifle out and clean it up a bit. That and a few frag grenades and I MIGHT stand a ghost of a chance.
Gabriel
-
LOL What ever makes you feel secure....
-
The irony in reading this at the particular time I read it was two older ladies rang the bell and where telling me about the Suffering is soon to end, that God will not let the devil continue to plague our world with his evil...
-
LOL, maybe one of them was Zon'es mom.
Gabriel
-
LOL I dunno these ladies were pretty old...and they drove a blue PT Crusier
-
The cruiser could have been a drone.
Gabriel
-
That is always a possibility
-
Hey, I just thought of something: Maybe Herbie was a drone.
-
Missionaries in PT Cruisers. Apparently there is money to be made in the service of the lord. . . Or the tithes have been especially bountiful this week.
Remember to ask yourself friends, if Jesus were here today, would he wear a rolex?
-
Of course there is...have you never heard of the infamous send money or "God will call me home" crap outta tha televangelist - was it Oral Roberts?
-
lol I have no idea. But it wouldn't suprise me. Those guys are some of the biggest fakes. There's this dude that lives in a rich neighborhood about 5 minujtes from my house named Jessie Duplanis. He's a televangalist. You should see his house and the cars him and his wife drive. Damn!
-
You know it pains me, being a christain and all, to see people like that. I think that would make a great run...put a bullet in their head for being the most blasphmous of them all!
-
no kidding, makes me sick
-
Ah, religion: starting wars, genocide, and financial fortunes for over 10,000 years. YAY!
Gabriel
-
Yes...not a topic we should continue to discuss...so how about the Chargers GM AJ Smith being rated the #1 GM in the NFL
-
I have no clue what you are talking about. None whatsoever.
Gabriel
-
Do you think AJ Smith is the #1 Gm in the NFL? I think the "Cowboys are gonna kick ass this year" Yea baby...... :D
-
Cowboys suck donkey balls, GO CHARGERS! And in reply to Gabe, AJ Smith is the GM for the San Diego Chargers. You're telling me you don't follow football?
-
I don't follow televised sports at all.
I enjoy playing them well enough, but I can't bear to just sit and watch them. I'm not an overly physical person, but if I am to watch it and get excited and all adrenalined, then I may as well grab some friends and play anyway. Watching is boring (for me).
-
Well, I have the same feelings about sports and porn.
I enjoy playing much more than I enjoy watching.
It's always more fun to actually do than to just sit and watch.
-kv
-
Watching is boring (for me).
Seconded.
-
hehe, I like the charges. I think my saints might be playing them in the superbowl next year :) AJ might be the number 1 gm but we have the number one coach GEAUX SAINTS!
-
Well, I have the same feelings about sports and porn.
I enjoy playing much more than I enjoy watching.
It's always more fun to actually do than to just sit and watch.
-kv
So you DO porn, huh?? Any films we might have seen you in? How about off-broadway plays???
Gabriel
-
:o You're tryin to tell me that you guys don't watch football?! Isn't it like man law to watch football?! I even go as far as to make sure I'm off of work so that I can watch football! And the Saints are my second favorite team...only cuz you got the number one quarterback Drew Brees, who use to be a charger ;)
-
No, I don't do porn. But I do like sex.
Better to do than watch.
-kv
-
:o You're tryin to tell me that you guys don't watch football?!
Never wach the wretched stuff, don't see the point.
's rather boring, after all.
-
I've tried watching all sports, and I've tried playing most of them- I can't say I'm a big fan of baseball- it seems like five minutes of fun for every hour of standing there doing nothing.
Soccer can be exciting, but I was a fullback, so it was the sucks to play.
Rugby is fun. Rock climbing is fun. Jet skis are fun. Mountain biking is too. Motorcycles are the definition of fun... football is fun with friends. Cricket is honestly more fun than baseball, because there's a lot more hitting and running (back and forth! Sticky wickets!), but you do stand there for days at a time waiting for something to happen.
Yeah, that's about my list.
-kv
-
hey, to each his own. Football is my favorite sport. I gotta watch it. I just started watching baseball again a couple years ago. UFC is badass. Gotta love 2 guys in a cage beating the living tar outa each other :)
-
:o You're tryin to tell me that you guys don't watch football?! Isn't it like man law to watch football?! I even go as far as to make sure I'm off of work so that I can watch football! And the Saints are my second favorite team...only cuz you got the number one quarterback Drew Brees, who use to be a charger ;)
Can't stand football. And I really don't have any reason why I dislike it, I've just never eally cared to sit down and watch it. I have never been very athletic, so that probably has soemthing to do with it. Anyway, I have found that watching a sport is like a circle-jerk. Lots of action, but not really that much for the observer.
Gabriel
-
Yeah? Hey Gabe- did you ever watch any sort of football with your parents?
My Dad never watched football, so growing up, I never did either. I did overdose on the Discovery Channel, Nation Geographic, science, and movies though, so those are things that I'm still interested in now.
-kv
-
You see, we are mostly a bunch of RPG playing, computer users. By most definitions, we are nerds. I'm proud of that distinction,as are most others. Probably. So it's natural to reason that our interest in sports is less inclined than Joe Averageman.
-
Hey Kid_Vid,
No, I didn't watch sports with my family, although my step-father was a RABID football fan. Maybe that explains why I don't watch sprots...
Gabriel
-
Well, that's what I'm saying.
We grew up with computers, RPGs and stuff like that. Gabe's step-dad was a football fanatic, and I'm assuming that he wasn't as close to his step dad, so he didn't like his step-dad, and therefore didn't like football.
Jester apparently was raised by football fans, so he likes football.
I've gone to one sporting event in my entire life. Rangers baseball game. Rained out. I'm not a big fan of attending sports. I spent many hours in movie theaters with my family, and even now I'm a movie-buff.
-kv
-
lol, actually no. The only thing close to a sport my dad watches is Nascar, and that's just driving in circles. I actually just started watching it with friend one day and got hooked. Been a huge fan ever since. Guess I'm not your stereotypical dork :)
-
Well I guess I'm just an abnormality in it all. Cuz I picked up on RPG's by myself, computers by myself, football...well my mom liked football, but I always watched it by myself. I can't stand baseball, but I don't discriminate on others who do. So yeah, who knows where I got it from...
-
You know, I plan to raise my kids playing RPG's and reading comics. So I guess we'll see if "nurture" has something to do with this.
Gabriel
-
I used to watch football all the time - Liverpool had an outstanding team when I was little...wait...you mean that OTHER football don't you?
;D
-
Well, SOMEONE wants to sound all cultured and European. ;)
Gabriel
-
Hey, there's a difference between football (or soccer, which you know... you play with your feet) and gridiron football, which... doesn't actually involve feet other than kickoffs... and running.
I'd have to agree with Europe and the rest of the world on this one.
-kv
-
Sorry but I didn't enjoy watching soccer as much as playing it. In fact, I can't stand watching soccer to be honest...but I was just a wee boy back then when I played...
-
500
and still countin ;)
-
I got my 5 star wanted level now! So only a few hundred more and I get my title! YAY! :D
-
Yeah, soccer is boring as necrophelia.
Gabriel
-
Voice of experience I presume?
-
I agree with Gabe, I think soccer is boring too. Football & Baseball though are great.. :D
-
Voice of experience I presume?
Yeah, you wish. :bob:
Gabriel
-
Yeah, you wish.
Not really, as a matter of fact.
More like "worried".
After all, you are from Louisiana I am given to understand...
-
So... he had sex with his cousin's corpse?
-kv
-
... forget I asked...
-
Oh c'mon Gabe...just when I get some respect for you, I hear you're bangin your cousin's corpse...that's kinda gross man!
-
Actually, that was all Jester's doing. I just filmed it. Is that so wrong???
Gabriel
-
Yes. Dear God. In every way, Yes.
-kv
-
I gotta say a lilttle weird, lol just playing ;)
-
Well filming it isn't nearly as bad as participating in it.
-
I don't know about that. If you're the one doing it, that's nasty and obscene. But if you're the one filming it, you're perpetuating that filth to an entire poor, unsuspecting world.
-kv
-
oh my god! that's about the most discusting thing I've ever heard! Besides, you're confusing louisiana with Alabama
-
Or Arkansas. Still, Jester and I made a cool ¥2500 a piece for sellign that tape. Of course, Jester had to spend all of that on penecilin and I had to spend all mine on air freshener, but hey, you live and learn. :bob:
Gabriel
-
Now, That is a very expensive air freshener.
-kv
-
Ain't it, though? Worth every, single yen.
Gabriel
-
Mmhmm...so that explains a lot!
-
Wait, so you're honestly admitting that the only thing you benefitted from the entire endeavor is that you got to watch the whole thing?
Yuck.
-kv
-
*Shakes head* Damn Gabe one step forward, two steps back for you chummer
-
This really isn't fair, though- we're all teaming up on him.
On the other hand, kudos to him for being that good of a friend to Jester. I mean, I don't even KNOW anyone that I would be willing to do that for.
-kv
-
See that, chummers, it's all about connections and what you are willing to do for a friend.
Gabriel
-
I don't know what you're all talking about. You must be confusing me with someone else
-
Yeah. Nice alibi, chummer.
Gabriel
-
Denial (Don't Even kNow I Am Lying)!
-
LOL. I love the anagram, even if you fragged it up a bit.
Gabriel
-
hahahahaha, things always seem to get fragged up....lol
-
Well, a friend will help you move.
A best friend will help you move bodies. . .
A (blank) friend will help you move bodies to do (blank) (blank) to them. . .
Be grateful. Maybe.
Or go see a priest.
-
lol, think I'm gonna be sick
-
Oh yeah. NOW he gets sick.
Gabriel
-
Yeah like reading about it is gonna make you sick...unless you are having vivid flashbacks!
-
Haha! Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, without further ado, the new and improved Curris!
I give him. . . Four Stars!
Let's have a round of applause!
-
woot! Grats!
-
Not much longer till you get your 5 star wanted level!
-
What's with this star obsession? I don't think I ever even noticed them before.
-
Some of us want to feel special...
-
You rode the short bus to school as a kid. That means you're "Special" FOR LIFE!
-kv
-
Sped kids, we drive a short short bus. . .
Sped kids, there's a special room for us. . .
(Sped kids being SPecial EDucation)
-
lol, you know my baby is special, lol
-
I always wanted to ride the short bus...
-
I'm going to hawaii, yaaaaaaaay!
-
Sweet take lots of pictures!
-
lol, that was a quote from crank yankers
-
From "Special Ed?"
-kv
-
yea
-
As of now, we have officially 1000 members on this board!!! Woot!
Not all are active and some may be bots, but hey, a milestone, neh?
-
Ooh, if only we could turn the bots into our willing servants, we could take over the WORLD!!!
-kv
-
muahahahahahaha!!!!!
-
And hold it hostage for . . . One Million dollars. . .
-
"Hahahahah... one million dollars- are you serious?!??! That's all?"
-kv
-
lol, I love that movie
-
Do you all realize if we made 75 years ago what we make now, we'd be fraggin rich? Inflation is such a bummer!
-
Hell, if someone threatens the UN for a million, they'd just pull out their wallets. . . Crisis averted. . . except for that whole "we don't negotiate with terrorists clause"
PS. this post intentionally not grammatically correct.
-
Maybe we should pass the hat at the UN for Sixth World relief. I'd trust their ignorance just enough to make us fairly supplied with primo food for a week aqt least :)
-
sounds like a good idea
-
"Dude, Where's My Car" sounded like it should be really funny too, but look how that turned out.
"Dude, where's my car?"
"Where's my car, Dude?"
"Dude, where's my car?"
*Sigh* Ashton, what have we ever done to you?
-kv
-
Dude where's my post?
Where's my post dude?
Dude where's my post?
-
Also Curris I wanted to point out that your Avatar is not displaying...perhaps the image was moved?
-
It's displaying fine for me, but that may be because it is in my cache. . .
And the path looks ok. I have no idea. Anyone else not able to see me?
-
I can see it just fine
-
Same here. Can see it fine :)
-
Yeah I see it fine now...maybe it was just a fluke...I dunno
-
Hey... I have two stars now! :D
-
woot! grats!
-
You are promoted from Throwing Star Thrower to Thrower of Throwing Stars!
Best pseudo-tongue twister ever!
-
Wow, Apoc, payed a visit!
I just noticed we have over 1000 memebers - yeah right. Some of you admins with a bit of time should break out the weed wacker and winnow the crop. I like us lean and mean, not numerous and unwieldy.
-
Ingo is the only one who can delete the spambot accounts, unfortunately, because he's the only Sysop.
I just talked to him, though, and he's planning on coming by soon and cleaning out the spambot accounts. Yay!
-kv
-
I felt a great disturbance in the code. . . As if millions of spambots screamed out in horror, and suddenly went /dev/null . . .
-
lol, funny
-
Wow, Apoc, payed a visit!
Believe it or not. I check the Pub everyday. I just don't take the time to post much lately. I'm a bit busy. I'm hear so if you want something then just holler. ;)
Anyways, how have you been?
-
We've been fine- some of us are still waiting on the details of the new job you started... like a year and a half ago now...
-kv
-
he said he's been busy ;)
-
We've been fine- some of us are still waiting on the details of the new job you started... like a year and a half ago now...
-kv
Ahh...okay. Then it sounds like it's time to write a story. (if you catch my hint) ;)
I'll try to put one up in a few days. I should. After all, I need to update my chummers.:apoc:
-
Yeah no kidding...good to see you around again. I remember when I use to have to sit next to him at the bar, whenever he got to drunk he'd start spittin fire everywhere. It made cold drinks very difficult!
-
Mongoose and Cobra, sitting in a tree- F-I-G-H-T-N-G!
-
I'd say that you are missing an "I", but then again, you are "Patch". . .
-
maybe he did that on purpose...
-
If I actually spelled it correctly, it wouldn't go with the song. :/
-kv
-
Perfectly reasonable...
-
Mostly I like mongoose... mongooses? Mongeese?
-kv
-
lol, mongeese
-
Great Ghost! you people babbled on for 5 more pages since I've been gone?? DAMN RIGHT!!! ;)
Gabriel
-
We had to do something to keep us entertained!
-
So, anyone actually know the plural of mongoose without looking it up?
-kv
-
not a clue, but where ya been gabe?
-
Yeah, mongooses.
Gabriel
-
Actually I believe it is actually Mongeese. I remember asking that question in school when we read that book about a Mongoose.
-
Well, there you go, Kid_Vid.
Gabriel
-
Huh.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/mongoose
It's mongooses. Who'd have thought?
-
Yeah, mongooses.
Gabriel
Um.... ME! ;)
Gabriel
-
<gives gabe a cookie>
-
Thanks, chummer!
Gabriel
-
Well, you can count on us whenever you need an imaginary cookie.
-kv
-
Huh.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/mongoose
It's mongooses. Who'd have thought?
Goes to show you the value of public schools!
-
YAY!!!!! Public school!!!
Gabriel
-
Hey, I went to public schools too! Yay for public schools!
-kv
-
Yeah, and you're a hacker!!!
Gabriel
-
Case in point!
-
Wait... why does going to public schools make me a hacker? And what does being a hacker have to do with knowing the plural for mongooses (is that what we decided on?), and why in the hell is that case in point?
-kv
-
This post is intentionally left blank. . .
Dammit!
-
now I'm all confused...
-
Confused? That's the point. (In case you were wondering. . .)
I am so witty.
-
I think he was confuzzled by the public school/hacker/mongooses thang.
-kv
-
no, it was the blank post
-
But... that post wasn't blank...
???
-kv
-
Actually my reference of public school was they lied to me and told me it was Mongeese, when actually it's Mongooses...then I said YAY for public schools, and eventually KV said he went to public school but was then re-spawned as a hacker, which further illustrates the fact pubic schooling sucks donkey balls.... so exactly! CASE IN POINT!
-
lol, tell em Krazi ;D
-
And after the Case in Point, I mentioned a Point. In case.
Reversal FTW!
-
Actually, I mentioned public schools to illustrate the point that Kid_Vid, hacker extraordinare, was a product of a public school education, yet is still a hacking genius. Thus proving that all you bastards out there who dump on public schools are wrong about the lack of education in those institutions. And I believe it was I, the Great and Powerfull Gabriel who knew the correct plural of mongoose. Gabriel of the Public School Education, mind you. ;)
Gabriel
PS - Just how many words DID I misspell in this post????
-
i gotta poop...
-
I guess it depends on where you live. I know in my area one county has some of the best public schools in the area, and the county just south of that has some of the worst...
-
gabe and I went to the 2 best public high schools in the state. But since both schools have tons of funding from the chemical plants that are in our parish that wasn't very hard to do, especially in louisiana...
-
Can I get a +1...oh yeah getting closer to 1000...
-
Curris gives Krazi a +1, but only on a masterwork post. . .
-
How can I get more karma? :-[ :'(
-
I think higher ranking pubbers can award it to you. But now that you've asked, you're likely to get a few points. . .
-
You're all the time tryin to get some karma...
-
How can I get more karma? :-[ :'(
Well, what are you willing to do for more Karma???? ;)
Gabriel
-
we usually give karma for good or funny posts. And when you hit 500 posts you can do the same
-
LOL, Well I have about more posts to get...
-
Hey I didnt even notice....Im a runner now . Whoa watch out, lol....Thanks for the karam ;D
-
You get karma from different people for different things.
Gabe will give you karma for asking for it, sometimes.
ROOTless hardly ever gives karma.
I usually give it to people who make me laugh.
-kv
-
So do I.
-
Thanks for the info, lol
-
The good pubber givith and the taketh away. . . ith
-
lol, yea. sometimes you get it taken away
-
And sometimes someone snipes you. (http://members.cox.net/gwire/Smily - Sniper.gif) That's when some punk smites you and doesn't let you know it was him. Or her. So don't worry, if you get smote by me, I'll let you know about it.
Gabriel
-
I'd appreciate it, lol
-
I'll give you a karma right now 'cause my boss is a shithead and he shouldn't ruin everyone's day...
-
Oooh, look at me only 399 posts 'til 2 grand - and me an old time veteran...
-
keep it up girl!
-
Well, okay, but only because I'm getting a mind pic of the Jester cheerleader squad...*yikes!*
-
Oh yes, you SHOULD be afraid of that image. Remember, I know all those guys... :::shudder:::
Gabriel
-
I have no problem cheering for you but I'm not wearing any skirt
-
Small blessings...
-
What's wrong with wearing a skirt? I've worn a skirt before. Of course, I've also dressed like a priest before... :-\
Gabriel
-
You wore a skirt? Was there a troll involved?
Maybe a little boy troll for the priest outfit? ;D
-
And THAT is how you get karma.
-kv
-
Interesting...I've been trying to get karma, and everyone always wants to take it away from me!
-
I'd rather see Jester in a skirt, than not. . . (In anything at all . . .)
Congratulations Elena! You've surpassed my Karmic total. . .
KHAAAAAAN!
-
Did somebody snipe her? I gave her one when she had five, and now she only has five. :/
-kv
-
DREK! Gabe's on a rampage!
-
Well, I can replace the karma of anyone he snipes except me, so I'm not terribly worried about it, but I thought I gave her one more karma, and now it doesn't look like I did.
-kv
-
I gave her one too, that was funny :)
-
Thanks, guys. :D
-
you are very welcome :)
-
I just wanted to give myself another +1
-
SOrry to dissapoint everyone, but no, there was no troll involved. And other than that, you can find the paydata on your own. Oh, and I don't snipe people. I fully own up to smacking someone down. Any one of the old guard should be able to tell you that, especially with all of the arguments Fortune and I got into when he started doing it.
Gabriel
-
Well I guess you can own up to smacking someone down, but I still bet a troll was involved!
-
Small blessings...
So. He is blessed . . . with something small?
-
That's what it sounds like to me...
-
Now see there, that got you smote, Curris.
Gabriel
PS - But don't worry, I'm sure you will get it back almost immediately. ;)
-
only reason you smote him is because it's true
-
lol that's funny
-
No, I don't give karma for small winkey jokes. It's just too easy. A good troll joke at Gabe's expense, that takes a lot more work.
Plus, I've had an ex-girlfriend who tried to get inside my head with crap like that.
-kv
-
She tried to get inside your head with your winky? What she keep hitting you with it until she split it open?!
-
Ouch! I'm smote! I've been smited! I'm smitten with you apparently. . .
-
No, I mean she played mind games, including but not limited to: "You have a small penis!"
I don't, but she honestly has seen a lot more penis than I had, so who was I to debate her expertise?
-kv
-
Yeah that's true, but that was kinda fucked up. I'm glad you got outta that situation.
-
Me too. Plus, she slept with like three other guys while I was dating her.
She was not a good person.
-kv
-
hey that sounds like my ex-wife she stole all my money used drugs and not just mary jane and slept with multiple guys for her drugs as well... she is now gone and out of my life forever. Thank god i never had kids with her
-
Well I'm glad you guys got out of those situations...they didn't sound very...what's the word...appealing?!
-
sounded pretty crappy to me
-
hey that sounds like my ex-wife she stole all my money used drugs and not just mary jane and slept with multiple guys for her drugs as well... she is now gone and out of my life forever. Thank god i never had kids with her
Shit! Were'd you pick her up? Sale bin at K-mart? You gotta know that shit is mostly broken - that's why its on sale...
-
Blue light special in the red light district???
Gabriel
-
Bingo. I'm almost tempted to give you karma for that one Gabe.
-
Why thank you, Z-Girl. I thought it a rather good quip myself.
Gabriel
-
I know you did - which is why there won't actually be any Karma, it was just a passing whim ;)
-
LOL. Ah, you know I love to be teased. ;) Dangle that Karma in front of me some more, you evil woman.
Gabriel
-
I might give Zone a karma just for teasing you with one!
-
I gave you a karma for it, Gabe. Whatever everyone else says, that was a good quip.
-kv
-
damn Krazi, you should give me one for giving you a child, lol Im just playing I love you
-
I did...and obviously someone else gave you one too!
-
that's a good idea, I gave her one too :)
-
I might give Zone a karma just for teasing you with one!
Oh, she's used to getting Karma for nothing here. :P And thanks for the point, Kid_Vid. It's nice to know that one of you people can appreciate good humr. ;)
Gabriel
-
I appreciate good humor!
-
Hence why no karma was forthcoming from you Krazi? ;)
-
I don't give karma easily. And I tend to not ever get any. KV gave me one only cuz I begged him, and that's it.
-
Man, if only I had been on last night/earlier today.
It's nice to know that one of you people can appreciate good humr.
Ahhh... so many jokes, too late now...
-kv
-
I can appreciate a good hummer. (The SUV fragger, not the other thing. . .)
Beats my Civic. Or Scooty Puff Jr., as some have called it. . .
-
lol, that was a good episode
-
"Scooty Puff Junior SUCKS!!!"
-
To be replaced by Scooty Puff Sr. with weaponmounts. . .
-
(http://tw.news2.yimg.com/ng/ta/ucar/20060113/19/3932845727.jpg)
This is the new truck Ford is coming out with to replace the Lightning. I think it looks pretty fraggin nice! For a truck that is...
Saleen is stamping their name on it, so you know it's gonna be quality and fast! Loaded down with high performance parts left and right. What's not shown in this picture is the cool pop out drawer in the front, which is kinda unique and yet pretty cool lookin as well!
Figured I'd post and see what everyone thought!
-
ooooo! that's nice! I definatley like it. Hey Chevy! Suck on that monster!
-
haha, yea, that is a sweet fraggging truck....Is that my new whip? lol ;D
-
I'm thinkin about it. Perhaps if you're really nice I'll get it!
-
Wahoo, I always nice though...But I'll keep that in mind... ;)
-
:D
-
Makes me think of the SUV in Crackdown, for Xbox 360. . .
Drives like a brick, goes through anything. . .
-
lol
-
I've never seen that game, but I'd like to have this truck. I know it can handle, shit it can probably out handle stock mustangs. You gotta understand that is the high performance counterpart to the stock truck!
-
AM I the only one wondering why the whole Global Warming thing is getting so much press at the same time these moron car manufacturers are making vehicles that use TONS of fuel and marketing them left and right? I'm seeing a pattern here.
Gabriel
-
Government Conspiracy?
-
Don't worry, thirty years ago all the hype was for the new Ice Age. Still a Caddy SUV is a bit much...
-
lol, yea. I like how the big trucks and SUV's look but I drive a 4 cylinder car
-
I went right in the middle with the v6
-
I have a V8, but it's a motorcycle engine, so I'm all good.
-kv
-
you probably get better gas mileage than me
-
I drive a twelve year old Nissan sedan. Doesn't look like its worth buying a new car anytime soon. I nearly stroked out when I had to pay 2.81 for gas. And yes Apoc, I know you pay more, but this is America where we traditionally pay less per gallon for non renewable resources than we pay for a gallon of milk, dammit.
-
Gas here in southern California is about $3.50 a gallon right now. >:( I used to fill up my car on twenty bucks. Now it takes 45.
-
Huh. Weird. Mine still takes under $10. ;D
-kv
-
Yeah yours holds like 3 gallons of gas. And my car is also 12 years old.
-
at 1/4 of a tank mine takes a little over 20 bucks
-
I saw a chart about the increase in gas prices over the last few years. It's really hard to believe that only 4 years ago gas was about $1.05 a gallon. So in only 4 years, we have tripled the price of gas for no real reason at all. Again, sounds like someone is manipulating this. And doing a piss-poor job covering it up.
Gabriel
-
A complete moritorium on the construction of refineries here might be one reason. Crude does us no good while its still crude. I suggest a few more years under Republicans might ease a few processing cramps.
-
I'm staying out of any political discussion. usually gets people too mad
-
Well, gas prices aren't following a supply/demand curve, and they aren't based on prices of oil- since OPEC just lowered the cost per barrel, and our gas prices (or at least my local ones) went up AGAIN.
Anyone know what wacky forces control gas prices?

That is some krazi ass shit. What do you think his chances are of winning?
-
oh yea! I hear about that on the news. That's just rediculous!
-
You think the judge this goes in front of will find him in contempt for bringing such a rediculous lawsuite to trial? It has happened before and there are lawas against it in certain states.
Gabriel
-
Not in Washington DC, though. They LIVE on frivilous lawsuits. Although I think his Judgeship will seriously be called into question, if he's willing to sue his drycleaners for $65 million because they lost his pants for a few days.
-kv
-
Yeah no kidding. Not to mention it would open up the possibility that you could sue McDonalds because they put ketchup on your double cheeseburger when you asked for it without it, then it stained your shirt, which you needed to wear to work. Which in turn made you go home, in which case you were involved in an automobile accident. I'm thinkin $150 million to get started...
-
NIce new avatar, Krazi. I know that has nothing to do with the lawsuit thing, but frag it. I like evil-looking cats.
Gabriel
-
OH thanks Gabe, I do too ;)
-
But see, the thing is, I always thought MY cat was the Eye of Sauron. Now it turns out to be a white, persian??? THen whose eyes are in my cat's head???
Gabriel
-
That is the question...
-
xerxces?
-
That dude did have pretty jacked up... you know, everything.
He was HUGE!
-kv
-
Thought you'd be used to huge guys, Kid_Vid. ;)
Gabriel
-
That was almost worth a karma ;)
-
I'll give you a karma for it, Gabe. You caught me off guard with that comment.
(I almost made this post into a poorly worded faux pass, worthy of a similar blasting)
-kv
-
lol, that was good
-
Head of a move afoot in to ban .50 calibre weapons and larger. Kinda sucks if you own a howitzer,
-
Yeah, but how often do you really get to use a howitzer?
Or for that argument, how often do you ever really get to use .50 Cal?
-kv
-
Every x-mas, on boxing day.
Oh, you meant the question seriously?!?
Then I can't really think of anything but armed insurrection.
-
And those happen what, every five or six years? Unless you're in volitile north africa, when you would probably get your money's worth out of buying such a gun.
-kv
-
target shooting is fun
-
If I lived in North Africa, oh drek, I'd be packin some serious heat. I'd have fully loaded M60's mounted at every point of entry to my house, not to mention a couple missle launchers mounted on pop up turrents to pop up through the roof. I'd be walkin around like Rambo whenever I left, with a SAW in my hands, ammo hanging over my shoulders, a stack of grenedes, twin .45's on my side, a back up 9mm on both ankles, and probably a nice size K-Bar.
That doesn't even count the armory I'd have in the basement for when things get outta hand. You know the saying "always be prepared"
-
That's a lot of hardware. I think if I needed to overthrow a government, I would push you over and steal some of your guns while you were trying to get back up!
-kv
-
Sounds good. I mean I left out the fact you'd have to cross a very elaborate mine field to even get inside the house. I find that average, overkill would be the fleet of fighter jets on stand by, and the black hawk helo's on constant patrol... :D
-
lol, paranoid much
-
..clearly very wealthy, at any rate.
-
I just call it personal security!
-
Actually, it appears to impact adversely on historic reenactors who seldom use anything more than black powder to make their peices go bang rather than loading shot. Matchlocks, flintlocks and the like range from about .50 cal to about .75 cal. I'm sure they'll make their argument heard - not shy, these guys. Obsessives seldom are :)
-
Ah true.
-
Wow, no inane chatter since May? You guys are slacking...
-
It's Gabe's fault. Without him as a sounding board, Jester and I didn't have anyone to respond to our inane stuff- we're on at different times of the day. Gabe used to be on here a lot, so he was the 'principle' of the Inane Chatter Class, and kept us going.
Maybe now that he's back we can all be a little more random.
-kv
-
yea, we need us some ammo ;D
-
I need about 200 more posts to make it back to the top ten list. I haven't seen that in years - literally
-
Show me some cred and I can fix that for you ;)
-
Hey wouldn't that be cheating? Wait, what am I thinking, I'm a shadowrunner, cheating is what we do...slotting the stick now, chummer 8)
-
Slotting the stick... Hur, hur, hur... :P
Gabriel
-
good lord that was bad...
-
Damn near smite-able in fact.... :P
C'mon Gabe, forth grade humor, you can do better -
do better!
-
near smitable? I blasted him for that one
-
Very cool, Jester. Can I number you among my minions now ;D
-
LOL, no. I'm nobody's minion. I'll be your pal though ;D
-
Damn near smite-able in fact.... :P
C'mon Gabe, forth grade humor, you can do better -
do better!
I Know it was bad, Z-Girl, but dammit, I'm under a lot of stress right now. The usual genius-level humor that you are all used to from me just isn't flowing right now. Maybe when I can manage to find employment and start getting my doss in order I will be able to get back to the paragon of humor and social comentary taht you are all used to seeing around here. :P
Gabriel
Doing it Better, just for Zone. :-*
-
lol, now THAT'S a minion :jester:
-
Nope, Gabe's no minion. Gabe's a toady ;D LOL
-
LOL!!!!!
-
1670?
HOW many years have I been sitting on this stool?
Sheesh, I gotta start posting pointless drivel.
-
You Zone.... Have you seen how many posts i have here and you and i have been here about the same time...
-
pad
-
aahhhh, much better. ;D

Today NeoPaladin turns 396 years old! Wow!
-
you guys are shameless.
-
Where else am I put to innane information? Should I start a new thread?
-
wow...he's old
-
you guys are shameless.
Well.....um..............yeah....... ;D
-
shame? What's that?

I'm pretty sure its one of the words that doesn't show up in Mercy's big fat book.

lol, yea I think I'll have to agree with you on that
-

I just noticed Gilliam is a self proclaimed Grammar Nazi. Boy, this board is the place to be then, eh ;D Have fun!
-
I thought ROOTless was our local ESL-grammar police. Maybe if Gilliam posted more (hinthint) he could be a grammar nazi someday too. Although... wouldn't a grammar socialist allow everyone to use whatever spellings they wanted?
-kv
-
No that would be a Grammar Anarchist.
-
lol, touche
-
So, what would a grammar socialist who hates jews be like?
-kv
-
Grammar Socialism:
2 guys in college
Guy 1 = not good at essays
Guy 2 = good at writing essays
They both write essays, Guy 1 gets a C (GPA 2.0) grade, Guy 2 gets an A (GPA 4.0) grade. Guy 2 then must share his grade with those in need, so he needs to share with Guy 1, thus netting them both a 3.0 GPA.
Ja oder nein?
-
According to the stats board I have actually been online here longer (since the change) than Gabe. Now how is that possible in a well ordered universe?
-
d00d's been busy ;)
-
dude ain't busy, he's a bum.
-
According to the stats board I have actually been online here longer (since the change) than Gabe. Now how is that possible in a well ordered universe?
I've been LOCKED OUTSIDE BECASUE OF A FRAGGING GLITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :::sigh::: Ok, now that that is out of my system, why don't I have the smite option anymore? Jester was just begging for it with that last comment.
Gabriel
-
I have it back! Yaaaay!
-
Hehehehehe, yeah, so do I. Tag, Jester!!! :gabriel:
Gabriel
-
No smite wars, you two.
-kv
-
Okay I get it, when I click Applaud it gives you a karma, but smite taketh one away! This could be a lot of fun!
-
Exactly.
-
ok gabe, you hit me so I hit you, even ;D
-
Well I gave everyone a Karma point even though I don't quite understand what is used for here on the boards. :o
-
That's what I like to see Ouija, using tech you don't understand and hoping for the best! ;) Now THAT is R&D at its finest.
Gabriel
-
;D I try!
-
rofl! we use it for mostly fun. Like if someone sais something dumb or makes a crack you find derserving of a smiting, hit um. If someone sais something smart or funny give them an applaud 8)
-
Gotcha! :D
-
The board used to actually list all of the Karma you got, both Positive and Negative. I liked that the best. Mostly because I was the king (at the time) of the Negative Karma Smack-Down. Ahhhhhh... Memories.... ;)
Gabriel
-
I think Ingo can still check to see how much positive and negative karma you've got, but as far I know, Gabe in the king of the being smoted, and Ruski has the most positive karma of anyone.
I doubt that's likely to change.
-kv
-
Gabe has +69 and -53 (NET 16)
Ruski has +127 and -16 (NET 111)
I can change it back that way if you'd like, at least I think I can. I changed it this way cuz it looks more SR like.
-
I think it's funnier to have the positive and negative up there... but I guess we could put it to a vote.
-kv
-
Well in comparing it to Shadowrun, the negative would have been spent to better yourself (i.e. attributes, skills) rather then how many times you put your foot in your mouth. So I agree it would be funny to see how many negative you have. Is it possible to have negative karma?
<Edit: The only edits made were at an attempt to make more sense out of what I was trying to say.>
-
I haven't got a problem with that
-
Oh wow I just noticed I got a karma! ;D
-
Didn't Gabe used to have 387 neg karma and about 14 pos karma?
I'm impressed that Ouija can smite at all, in the last incarnation wasn't it only available to 100 posters or more?
-
Yes I have Applaud and Smite available ::)
-
I call Shenanigans!!!
-kv
-
I Agree with Kid_Vid. I think the post minimum got deleted in this incarnation of the board. Ouija, you used to have to get to at least 100 posts to be able to smite or applaud. You got lucky, chummer. ;) And Yeah, I think it should be switched back to show the positive and negative karma. I used to love that. Hehehehe.
Gabriel
-
Can we turn the applaud and smite back to 100 posts without hurting anyone's feelings?
-kv
-
Will do, at Ouija's posting rate it'll only be a few days to a week or so. At least you got a taste chummer! ;)
-
yea, you'll get there in no time
-
Hell, he'll be eligable (sp) for a custom smily pretty soon too.
Gabriel
-
I hope so! I already miss it :'( I guess I'll just have to get more talkative ::)
-
I have just now read through and somewhat understand that which is the Pad. Thus where they threads where birthed. So I'm proud to say PAD
-
heh. I wouldn't recommend reading through the paddin' thread. A man can go insane after doing that. I read each and every post on this board after I cam back from a mini-hiatus, and I know I did.
Stupid Pb.
Oh well, life goes on. Thanks for posting the start of the adventure hooks- a friend of mine is doing a Star Wars - Shadowrun conversion (4th edition) and he needs some ideas adapted to that world. But my ideas I write up into adventures, so I don't usually have many spare ones floating around to recycle.
Kudos to you!
-kv
-
Wait, he's making a Star Wars game into Shadorun? Or is he just using the 4th Edition System to run Star Wars in? And he needs ideas for that?
Gabriel
-
4th Edition System to run Star Wars in- and yes, we could always use extra ideas.
Do you have a new email address so I can send you the pdf he put together?
-kv
-
Yeah null sheen chum, and let me know how that Star Wars/Shadowrun conversion works out.
-
me too. But for star wars I much prefer the old D6 system. It roxored
-
Just

Want

Reach
-
100! YAY! Okay I'm done ;D
-
woot! congrats!!!!! ;D
-
The century is achieved 8)
-
You mean he has a hundred romans behind him now? Watch you rear, chummer.
Gabriel
-
Hmmm... since he's the newest member of the pub, I guess there's no need for the applaud/smite restrictions. Officially, welcome to the Pub, Ouija!
-kv
-
Thanks, it's really my pleasure. I'm actually quite excited to finally dig in my pockets to buy the 4th edition core book. Although lint and a few coins are all that's left, I still have you guys! :P
-
aaawwww, ain't dat sweet ;D
-
:-[
-
Why the sad face? We're here for you... unless, you know, you need money. Cause I'm poorer than you are. ;D Seriously- I'm as poor as a starving church mouse. ;D
-kv
-
Well I got some silver coins scattered across my coffee table, enough to buy you a pint in 1986!
-
lol, the shadowrun pub forum. Home of the poorest mofo's in the world...
-
Hardly surprising, is it now?
-
Actually, it should be surprising, after all, we're shadowrunners! What does this say about our reps taht we are the brolest fraggers in the sprawl? Not a good day for making nuyen, chummers. :(
Gabriel
-
well, since this is the NON roleplaying section it's really not suprising. If this was the roleplaying section Jester would be able to loan money to Bill Gates...were he still alive
-
True. Then again how many times have you realized after the bills were paid and you got your couple nights of partying out of your system, you were right back on the grind lookin for some work cuz the nuyen dried up?
-
True. Then again how many times have you realized after the bills were paid and you got your couple nights of partying out of your system, you were right back on the grind lookin for some work cuz the nuyen dried up?
That's sort of what I usually aim for.
Ofcourse, I usually GM...
-
Yeah, I think runners should always have slightly less money than they need to live the lifestyle they want. That way they're motivated to keep running.
-kv
-
Exactly, plus it gets addictive when you make good nuyen and can finally afford all the toys you couldn't before! ::)
-
Yeah, I think runners should always have slightly less money than they need to live the lifestyle they want. That way they're motivated to keep running.
-kv
Exactly.
-
that's why Jester is retired ;D
-
I'm certain I still have a small shoebox full of various dennominations. I just don't know under which rock it lies...
-
Woohoo, four hours of pub time logged. There's a chunk of my life I'll never get back ;D
-
Well, if you want, we can have Gabe fantasize about you naked and sweaty at the computer for FOUR HOURS, and you'll wish that you hadn't done it even more?
Or we could just pat you on the back for being the lone woman around the pub. Others have come, but none have stood the test of time. ;D
-kv
-
ooooo, that was a gabe type comment. run KV...
-
Well, I was channelling my Inner-Gabe, but this is the Paddin Thread (or its woebegone unfortunate progeny) , so it's okay!
-kv
-
lol, as long as zone thinks it's ok then you'll be fine.
-
I'm assuming, Kid, that you are mearly goggled eyed with unemployment boredom/frustration. I will therefore consider your Gabe impersonation as a deviation from the norm and not turn your arse into hamburger. I won't even smite you. See what happens when ZOne is fed chocoalte ice cream sodas? Zone is mellow ;)
-
See what happens when ZOne is fed chocoalte ice cream sodas?
Chocolate ice cream soda? Where? Brand? Sounds hecka good!
-
no lie! I want me some!
-
See what happens when ZOne is fed chocoalte ice cream sodas?
Chocolate ice cream soda? Where? Brand? Sounds hecka good!
Home made, baby. Fill a big ass glass with chocolate ice cream, pour chocolate syrup over all until you say to yourself, that's gotta be enough...then add a few more table spoons. Pour either plain or cherry seltzer over all and let melt together for a few minutes. Drink with a straw, straws are mandatory wit ice cream soda. Warning - do not use any other flavor seltzer. Lost one chummer to a lemon lime mistake, she's still scraping her tongue.
-
Wow, that would be awesome- a similar effect to rootbeer floats, only completely chocolate and tasty. I may just have to put one of these together for my fiance.
-kv
-
gotta find cherry seltzer...
-
I'm trying to think how I can turn it Japanese. :apoc:
-
drop a raw piece of tuna in it ;)
-
Good Point. ;D
-
drop a raw piece of tuna in it ;)
That gets you a LOL karma :D
-
why thank you m'lady :) <bows>
-
but only if the tuna is fresh.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
I didn't even know this was on the stats board: Male to Female Ratio: 6.1:1
Interesting, but not surprising ;)
-
wow, I had no clue either. that's pretty cool
-
Hmm, is the .1 a person who is not even remotely sure of what sex they are? LOL jk :P
-
lol, could be....
-
Gabe?
-
karma time, baby! ;D
-
;D
-
Where the frag is the one armed elf anyway?
-
last thing I heard from him is an e-mail saying he finally got WoW. So probably in Azeroth
-
Pfff! Drek head...
-
hahahahaha!
-
Yeah, the new edition of BTLs just hit the street, and apparently Gabe used his extra money to pick up some chips to fill the days. I hear that WarCrack one is a hard one to kick.
-kv
-
My brother and all his buddies are into it. I'm tempted, but fear the addiction.
-
As well you should. It takes a supreme effort of will, change of lifestyle, or act of god to get away from it.
I broke up with my girlfriend and quit my job so I could go back to school, just to get away from the computer. My little brother moved to Iowa, but took the habit right back up when he came back.
A bunch of my friends got addicted, and I've been trying to wean them off ever since. I think I introduced one guy to a girl who'll drag him away from it.
-kv
-
I play and I'm not addicted. I'd much rather spend time with real people. I play when I'm at home with nothing else to do
-
yea, you can stop any time you want. you are totally in control. it's just a recreational thing. where is that uber lutez you've been grinding 4 hours to get?
-Ruski
-
LOL, F that. I hate grinding. I hate raiding. I like to PVP. This is just something to keep me occupied until Warhammer Online comes out
-
Hey, speaking of Warhammer online, wasn't that recently pushed back for the umpteenth time?
-kv
-
Ya bunch a stimsoft junkies :P
-
lol, thanks Z. and yea. it got pushed back to quarter 2 of this year. Sucks but I don't really mind just as long as they get the game right when it comes out. Don't want it rushed like Star Wars. Thar was a disaster.
-
Well, it was less disasterous before they let everyone start with Jedi. I kinda liked the idea of people having to quest for hours and hours before unlocking the ability to use the force. When every kid with a computer could do it, that seemed like a mistake. Apparently the subscribers agreed with me. ;D
I didn't play it, other than just a little at release, but even I was surprised at the complete overhaul.
-kv
-
i tried it again after the overhaul. It was better but still not good.
-
with any game like that there's a balance.
a fine line between giving the players enough to keep them coming back, and yet, not so much that they get bored with what they've got.
actually, that was one of the things that I liked about 3rd ed shadowrun.
you started off with enough skillpoints or whatever to make a PC that was good at a thing or two, but wasn't all powerfull. (minmaxed munchkins aside)
star wars went from one extreme of giving people not quite enough stuff... to giving them everything and no where else to go.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
agreed
-
actually, most game systems work on similar principles.
try any RP system, if it starts out too slow, no one wants to play 0 level pesants for more than 5 minutes. and you'll have a riot on your hands.
start off too high, and your 100 ton battle-mech will start destroying the local cities just for something to fill the time, plot hooks be dammed.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
C-CAW C-CAW! TOOKIETOOKIE!
-
Must be the crows coming in to eat the dead :P
HELLO! ANYONE THERE?
-
Pellet gun time?
-
lol, nice. I got some replies
-
...piff!...
I dunno how else to describe the sound of a pellet gun firing.
-
Well, he was quoting "Evolution," so I'll reply as well.
-kv
-
hehe, yep.
-
Sorry, I'm a bit slow. What's "Evolution"?
-
It is the awesomeness that is both David Duchoveny as a comedian and Orlando Jones in one of the funniest roles I've ever seen him in.
It's a very funny movie- I recommend you track it down. ;D
-kv
-
yes indeed. I just saw it for the first time last weekend. Talk about a funny movie. And the line I quoted was from Sean Williams Scott, he's in it too :)
-
lol I remember that movie! Man I want to watch it again now.
-
I know what movies that is now. I've seen it before. It's pretty good. I like Sean William Scott in that. The firefighter is funny.
-
yea! it's awesome! "TAKE THE LEG! TAKE THE LEG!" I want to go buy it
-
Yeah, now that I think about it, I do too...
-kv
-
Must be a guy movie...Hunny probably has it, perhaps I shall view it
-
hehe, cool. trust me, you'll enjoy it
-
I'm gonna damn well write a few posts just so we don't mildew up in here....
-
I've been playing Eve Online for the last few weeks :o
-
never got into that. I'm waiting on my new computer so I can play Call of Duty 4
-
Pray, what is Eve online for those of us less geek oriented ;)
-
http://www.eve-online.com/ (http://www.eve-online.com/)
MMO space game. Kinda hard to explain, but it's basically a virtual universe with it's own economy driven by players. You can do industry work (mining, manufacturing, etc), trade, do missions for various NPC corporations, hunt down NPC pirates, or even become a pirate yourself and hunt down other players to take their stuff. And that's only the part of the iceberg :)
-
Virtual work? I gotta enough of that in RL
-
got my computer in and it is BADASS! I'm playing Call of Duty 4 and World of Warcraft with all the graphics cranked up and my video card just looked and me and said,"That all you got, bitch!" I'm lovin it!!!!!!
-
What kind of computer did you get? Give us specs.
-
I was thinkin' of pimpboy the other day and downloaded fallout 2.
good ol' 80's games! horrah!
oh, and I hear they are coming out with a new version.
-Ruski
-
I got it from IBUYPOWER.com They pretty much frankenstien a computer for me. That way I didn't have to install anything. And the specs are...2.4 core 2 pentium, 2 gigs of ram, 250 gigs of hard drive space, and a GeForce 8800GT 512 OC. I am now definatly ready for Warhammer online.
-
I see that Gabe's avatar is now dead. I assume he's in prison...
And whats with this general slowdown of Pub visits by everyone? I'm supposed to be the on again off again patron here not you all.
-
I'm still around, but with no one to talk to, it gets boring for me to post.
I think Gabe just got busy- he moved and started a new job, and I think he just got a little too busy in real life to stop by here. Which means things slowed down, which meant that there wasn't a lot for the rest of us to do.
-kv
-
yea, I still visit every day. But if nobody replies to my posts I can't very well keep going on my won :) And as far as Gabe goes I sent him a message the other day but haven't gotten a reply yet. Last thing I got from him, and I believe I said this already, was that he started playing WoW.
-
well, let's start up something that takes a once a week post or something. a progressive chain story where you write a paragraph.
if you feel like double posting, you can. and everyone try to hit it up once a week.
-Ruski
-
I'll be happy to read something like that, not sure how creative I can be. I'm not a writer at all, lol
-
Want I should set somthing up or should we all just post in the Kid's new run? C'mon Ruski, I even went 3rd ed. there ;)
-
(http://www.weregeek.com/comics/2008-04-07.jpg)
-
lol, I know very little about 4th ed. But I do plan on getting it and checking it out.
-
Heh. I like the comic. ;D
-kv
-
finally heard from gabe. He's been busy with work and home, WoW. He doesn't post as much because most of his posting before was done at work. The company he works for now doesn't let you get on the internet unless it's work related. So, when he gets home he just wants to relax. so, really can't blame him for playing the game so much. He likes it there but the pay isn't as good for pretty much the same cost of living here.
-
Ooch. Nothing quite like leaving a good job for a better one, only to find out that the better job isn't as great as it was supposed to be- and not even as good as the old one.
That sucks. Tell him to get off of WoW and come visit his friends at the Pub.
He can solo elite mobs for epic l3w7 later. We need our favorite one-armed elf.
-kv
-
lol, will do.
-
*cricket* *cricket*
-Ruski
-
lol, hey, check out the review section. I posted a buncha stuff there
-
but that won't help the liveleyness of this section.
well, not much anyways.
-Ruski
-
true, but I did try something at least :)
-
okay. I give you one half of a twinkie point for effort.
with just 7,000 tickets you can get a plastic para-trooper that will fall down slowly due to the stater brother's plastic grocery sack tied to it by several rubber bands!
hehehe
-Ruski
-
yay for me! ;D
-
There's also a clock radio you can win. but for some reason you would have to win more tickets than are actually present in the entire arcade inorder to win it.
I suggest hiring a hacker, and letting them help you.
-Ruski
-
lol, trying to drum up work for your brother I see. What's your cut?
-
for my brother? LOL
Last time I checked, I was the resident Hacker of the family.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
oh, got things mixed up, thought he was. It's been a while since we've discussed our "jobs". What's he do again?
-
Lots of stuff.
Ruski is actually a cop in real life, and I'm an EMT (ambulance driver/attending), although I'll probably only transport you if you're really old and on your way to Dialysis for kidney failure. ;D
-kv
-
lol, well I was talkin about in game, but that's cool too :) And since I'm a butvher if you're gonna be transporting me it prolly won't be pretty
-
You're a butcher? That's so cool!
What is everyone else's jobs in real life?
-
yea, that'd be cool to know too! Gabe prolly won't post so I can tell you he's a draftsman :)
-
no wonder the army needs so many people...
-Ruski
-
I was an executive manager in my former company about two years ago. I imported food products to Japan but I decided to change careers to have more time with the family.
Now, I'm low level manager for an education product business. I have a much better balance between work and family now.
-
Good for you, Apoc.
Now you just need to find more time to visit your close internet buddies at the Shadowrun pub. ;D
-kv
-
lol, yea! ;D
-
I agree. I'm trying to make the effort. Little by little.
-
I know the Pub has been slow but it's almost dead.
What's going on?
-
I'm not sure. Might have something to do with Gabe not being here. He was a good catalyst.
-
I think most people want to reply rather than just spew something out.
Which means places like this are highly vulnerable to flatlining during the absence of 'motormouth spammers' like gabe (and certain others).
Especially because there are so few of us - when was the last time someone new dropped by and actually stayed?
And ofcourse, when did any of you lot last play SR?
-
I know what you mean Root.
I'm just as guilty. I haven't played Shadowrun in years and I don't post as much as before.
I check everyday but just don't take the time to say anything.
Maybe time for this ol' dragon to make a change.
-
whew, been a long time since I even touched anything shadowrun related. I don't even have the latest books. I've been playing alot of Warhammer though :) And also waiting for D&D 4th edition.
-
Hey Jester, have you heard of Dark Heresey (http://www.blackindustries.com/?template=40k)? Warhammer role playing set in the 40k universe.
My brother got the books and said he wanted to run a game. That was over a month ago and I haven't heard anything about it since..hehee
-
yea, I wanted to get it but the book sold out before I could. Then the rights to the book got bought up by Fantasy Flight games and I'm not sure if they've reprinted it yet. Always wanted to play an Inquisitor hunting down the forces of chaos :)
-
Ruski and I actually put together a small 4th edition game last month. I'd love to make it a more regular thing, but we'll see what happens.
Sorry about my lack of posting- I was stealing internet from my neighbors at my new apartment, and they put a password on thier wireless router. So no more internet at home. And, for some reason, internet hasn't been working at work, either. So I haven't been able to stay online for more than three minutes at a time for a couple of weeks now.
-kv
-
lol, bad KV, <slaps the hand>
-
I remember you saying before that you were getting internet from your neighbors. Sucks that it got blocked.
-
What kind of security are they using? I could find you a couple of links... ;)
-
<puts fingers in ears> LALALALALALALALA!
-
I could download airsnort, but since Sara and I plan on paying for internet anyway, I can just tough it out for the next couple of weeks.
-kv
-
using bruteforce and airsnort shouldn't take longer than 20 hours on an average strength passcode.
I'm guessing they only went for an 8 char one though. and if you looked on their mailbox it's probibly their last name.
-Ruski
-
10-character numeric, if the password AT&T set up when they hooked up Dad's wireless is any indication. I think it is, because these people all have 2wire486 (or something random like that) for router names, AND a password. Usually people who know enough to put in a password change the name to something that means anything to them.
In any case, I have my parent's house, when I really get a Jonesing for internet, and until I get it set up in my house, I'll just mostly do without. Although several people have remarked on my decreased online presence. A few of my online buddies were shocked that I hadn't died or something.
-kv
-
2wire is a generic router. you could probibly look online for a manuel for the version of router it is, look up the default passcode, and it'll probibly work just fine.
if they didn't rename the router, they probibly didn't change the default passcode.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Would you believe..
I stumble across one of Dorkboy's boltholes: http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=5238
-
Indeed.
How nice.
-
Is this one of PB's holes? That's... that's a relief.
Actually, I ran into him on another forum, same handle and everything. I just spoke softly until he went away for a little while. It was quite a shock to see him, though. Not in a good way.
-kv
-
I would imagine that he's making love to himself just over 1) the release of fallout 3
and 2) that we are still talking about him.
he was quite the attention whore.
-RuskiFace the Pirate

So okay, in my effort to help stave off Illuminati plots, I voted today.
Unless I fell into their evil trap...
What about you all?
-
yes I did and that's all I have to say on the subject ;D
-
I did vote, and I actually enjoyed myself. For the first time... like, ever, I thought either of the two candidates would be good as president. I like Obama's idealism, I like McCain's experience, so I decided that I would be happy no matter who won.
Obama won, and I'm really happy because I really hope that the fact that he's not an established politician will mean that there's actual change made *fingers crossed*.
I don't know about avoiding Illuminati plots, though. Those things are everywhere. I got this datapad with a red 'X' stenciled on it, and the thing has been giving me missions like "buy a cheeseburger and leave it on the bus stop."
-
Did you know that for the price of a data pad and some red ink, you can get food delivered to you anywhere?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
howso?
-
Yeah, I'm not clear on that, either.
Unless it was supposed to be a non-sequitur... in that case, BRAVO!
-kv
-
So okay, in my effort to help stave off Illuminati plots, I voted today.
Unless I fell into their evil trap...
What about you all?
would've loved to...
-
heh. How weird is that? I just got Ruski's joke about the datapad and red ink.
-kv
-
dam. there goes my free food.
hey, make that last delivery of a slice of warm pizza to the corner of 4th and walbash. there's a nice napkin on top of the mail box that's clean, and needs a pizza on it.
you know, for old times sakes.

Anyone else notice how little inane chatter is happening since Gabe did a bunk on us?
http://www.oneplusyou.com/bb/geek
I was 48%
-
If I knew what a bunk was I might agree
-
Since Gabe disappeared, I'm going to say that's what a bunk is.
Jester, clarification, please?
-kv
-
Anyone else notice how little inane chatter is happening since Gabe did a bunk on us?
http://www.oneplusyou.com/bb/geek
I was 48%
81%
Guess I'm losing some of my geekiness? :o
I riposte with :bob: !
-
you are an uber nerd, made up of parts of lesser nerds
-
I'm 91%... I didn't know Slashdot's slogan.
-kv
-
Did a bunk means ran off; disappeared so Kid gets the kewpie doll.
Damn, guys, I thought I was pretty geeky there for a minute. Maybe there's a different scale for wimminfolk
-
Well Zone, you're half-geek.. and that's pretty good in my book! ;)
-
I'm at 40%. That would probably be higher if there were any roleplaying, warcraft, or tabletop gaming questions in there.
-
it has been my experience that everyone is geek-riffic in their own way.
even if you take the big ol' foot ball jock from high school, he will probably know who, in 1942 was the first ever semi-pro player to ever make three consecutive 26.8 yard passes during the training season.
and obscure, and ultimately useless information, in my humble opinion, qualifies for geek-dom.
quick! someone ask me the page number for the THAC0 charts in 2nd Edition AD&D! I'm just kidding. everyone knows that one.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
I don't actually. I'd just draw me up a chart on the bottom of my charecter sheet :)
-
I don't actually. I'd just draw me up a chart on the bottom of my charecter sheet :)
LOL I used to do that too!
-
Page 101.
not a hard number to remember really. but why, seeing as how they are currently on 4th edition DnD, and THAC0 was removed in 4th edition, can I still remember it? shouldn't that brain space be spent remembering something else? something I would use on a more regular basis?
Nope. I'm a geek.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
of course not! Now I probably won't ever forget it either ;D
-
I never really bothered to acquire an in depth knowledge of D&D rules, I just rolled the dice and let the rule whores figure out what happened - it was all about RP for me.
-
That's more likely to happen when your RPG diet is diverse- if you're playing lots of different games, and you don't know the rules for all of them as well, you'll stick more to the story side of it, and let others figure out the rules mechanics side of it.
We (Ruski, my other brother, our friends, and I) played D&D pretty exclusively for... about ten years. That leads even the least interested player (in this case, our buddy Zach) to learn the rules pretty in-depth. And the people who had to understand the rules the best to begin with (Ruski, the oldest of us), knew page numbers and could quote oft-used rules. :D
-kv
-
"The DM is never wrong. Suck it SLITCH!"
- Page 208.
it was hand written.
-RuskiFace the Pirate

very true. The rules are more of a guideline than actual rules
-
it sucks that cant find info i want
on shadow run
-
What info do you need?
-kv

yea, we may be able to help

looking for the warthog motorcycle made by blackjack

You all should read this article:http://www.dirkbenedictcentral.com/home/articles-readarticle.php?nid=5
-
That was pretty good and worth the read.
-
Good read!
Here's a good listen/watch (at least I thought so) by Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs on Discovery Channel giving a motivational speech about skilled labor:
http://fora.tv/2008/12/12/Mike_Rowe_on_Discovery_Realization_and_Lamb_Castration (http://fora.tv/2008/12/12/Mike_Rowe_on_Discovery_Realization_and_Lamb_Castration)
-
I told y'all all along that it was Starbuck, not Stardoe. ;D Personally I love men, they're so amusing.
Love Mike Rowe. Case and point :D
-
You know when I went to google to search for that link (I remembered watching it but hadn't bookmarked it) I saw something funny.
You know how when you go to Google.com and in the search box you start typing then it brings up a list of commonly searched keywords? Here are a few that I though was interesting:
mike rowe dirty jobs 377000
mike rowe married 301000
mike rowe girlfriend 66000
mike rowe shirtless 21000
Apparently he's pretty popular with the ladies haha ;)
...at least I hope that's all queries from ladies... I hear he lives in San Francisco... hahahaha :p
-
Well, since Kinsey tells us that despite media hype, the pecentage of people living a homosexual lifestyle in the US is about 3% there must be straights that live even in SF.
It is the only US city that can claim to have been the HQ for the US Emperor ;D Look up Joshua Norton if you're interested...
-
how can I become the emperor of the US?
-
Apparently just tell everyone you are. It would probably help if lots of people knew you and generally had a good time when you were around (thus agreeing with you about your emporership).
-
hhmmm, that sounds like a challenge...
-
Also, it helps if people already like you, and you threw lavish parties before you lost everything (including your mind).
Decrees involving cats seem to be a popular topic for Emperors in America. ;D
-kv

Just an update. Gabe has deleted his account at the other site where we intersected. Hasn't been here in donkey's years. Guess he went and grew up. Anyone else planning on doing that?
-
gabe?
grew up?
-
I've tried to contact him too. No go :(
-
No? I thought you guys were real-life friends?
-kv
-
They were until Gabe moved.
I've tried to contact too but nothing. :'(
-
Could just be that he got busy with real life, and that WoW stuff I've heard so much about- he's moved (twice? three times?) and he's nowhere near a good shadowrun group anymore.
My other friends who are addicted to World of WarCrack spend pretty much all of their time online slaving away at 'Dailies. '
-kv
-
Yeah I've heard stories of relationships falling apart because one person is playing WoW too much. But think of all the quality time they could have if they both played! Hahaha
-
Heh. Actually, my buddy who finally convinced his wife to play... just finalized his divorce. She left him for the WoW guildmaster.
So not always the dream that you might hope it was. :D
-kv
-
Did anyone know about this: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/May_4
-
Yeah, I heard about it on F-My-Life, a website dedicated to anonymous posting of the worst moments in life. One of the guys posted that he sent out a mass-text-message to everyone sayinfg "May the 4th be with you," and his ex-girlfriend responded 'Yeah, that's one of the reasons I broke up with you.'
http://www.fmylife.com/
Enjoy.
-kv
-
lol! I didn't know that. And F that B for dissin on star wars ;D
-
I have to say, you should mark your calendars tomorrow- it's the day the Star Trek will become cooler than Star Wars. And Captain Kirk will be actually cool (not just ironically cool).
-kv
-
I already have plans to go see it wednsday since I have work saturday and sunday is mom's day and D&D in the evening
-
Ruski and I, our Dad, our brother (the one who still lives in California), my wife, and a couple of my friends at work are going to go see it in Imax tonight. I'm almost having a nerdgasm in preparation for my nerdgasm. ;D
-kv
-
Ruski and I, our Dad, our brother (the one who still lives in California), my wife, and a couple of my friends at work are going to go see it in Imax tonight. I'm almost having a nerdgasm in preparation for my nerdgasm. ;D
-kv
...and I thought I was a dork...ahhaha!
Hope you enjoy it in IMAX, I think I'll end up seeing it at a regular theater ;)
-
I've got to wait until the end of May then it hits Japan. But counting my days.
I want to see Harold from Harold and Kumar. ;D
-
From the trailers it seems like he has a small part, seems like it's mostly about Kirk and Spock... well mostly Kirk. Add in the hot girl, and it's pretty close to original star trek ;)
-
No- suprisingly, Chekov, Sulu, Scotty, Uhura, and Bones ALL have pretty major parts in the movie.
Also, there are some awesome surprises that had people in our theater laughing throughout the movie.
But no spoilers- I wouldn't want someone to say something if I hadn't seen it yet.
-kv
-
goin to see it tomorrow!!!!!
-
It was pretty awesome. Felt right for some reason, it had the Star Trek vibe. It also didn't seem like a long episode (x-files movie anyone?). It had epic-like qualities, felt like watching some of the original Star Trek movies.
4.5/5 Bobs
:bob::bob::bob::bob:+.5
-
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it...
-
I have to wait until May 29th.....just two more weeks.
-
2 words, great movie.
-
I would give it five out of five bobs. I liked everything about it, and when the classic music swells at the end, you're ready to cheer for it.
:bob::bob::bob::bob::bob: / 5 Bobs.
-kv
-
Okay, I Saw it today....It was everything that I hoped and dreamed....well, not really but close enough ;D
A fine piece of movie ;)
-
Believe it or not I saw it too. Loved McCoy & Scotty, was very happy with Kirk, Sulu etc, the only one I hated - and its not only because he's about ten years to soon chronology wise was Chekov, which is odd since he was always a fav. Good movie, really, but I'm not sure its Star Trek. Not sure I'm real happy with the reset being pressed... all those years hovering around the basement b&w are now wasted.
-
chekov kinda set me on edge as well.
-
Really? I thought they integrated him into the script very well. It always seemed a little weird to have two people driving in the original series- I mean, on a submarine, one of them controls each one of the two turbines on a submarine, so that makes sense... but are the two nacelles on the Enterprise independent?
So he's there because he's a kid genius, and he's not a backup driver or anything- he's a ... logistician... or something. Help everywhere wiz kid.
I thought the way they integrated him, and the little joke about his accent were good.
-kv
-
I think you got me wrong. I had no problem with what he was doing it was just his voice was aaahhhhhh!
-
As per the old people, here is some paddin for them. ;)
-
pad, pad, paddity pad
-
Here's a pad for Gabe:
PAD
-kv
-
lol, our long lost elf buddy
-
pissed off pad >:(
-
For the cheap viagra lady. >:/
-
Gabe=Jail
-
Gabe=Jail
For real or assumption?
-
I'm pretty sure she's joking. Jester is the only one of us who had contact with him in real life, and since Gabe had just moved, he was putting a lot of time into WoW. So the World of Warcrack has another addict. I wouldn't mind seeing him on here again, to be honest. We destroyed PipBoy together!
-kv
-
lol. I've tried to get in contact with him but alas, no go.
-
Joke. my information is based on absolutely nothing. the RL bunch of us are probably way to geeky to be much in the way of hard-timers. And No this is pretty much the only place we ever crossed paths.
I have no WoW knowledge at all, and glad of it
-
you're not missing anything. Got boring for me
-
So poor Farrah died, and was instantly upstage by Michael Jackson, so who can upstage MJ? BILLY MAYS. Found dead today in his home, poor guy. What's going on anyway, seems like we're on a celebrity sweep.
-
How does the saying go, "It comes in threes"
-
yes, that's the saying, Billy is the start of another set of 3. Don't forget, Ed McMan died before Farah and MJ.
-
Yeah, so who has tabs on the next three?
I vote for someone from Motley Crue.
-kv
-
#2 appears to be old time actress Gale Storm famous a "My Little Margie" And no, I've never seen it. According to the obit she was supposed to by Lucy-like
-
never heard of her
-
Also, that one guy from the show you never saw- Karl Malden!
I don't believe that celebrity deaths come in threes- it's a psychological phenomenon known as 'passive avoidance,' or 'passive targeting.'
Basically, our minds work to eliminate outliers- so if you believe there are three celebrity deaths at a time, you'll focus on Farah and Ed and the King of Pop. You'll passively forget about Malden or Storms, because they don't fit the program of 'threes.'
-
i feel anilyzed <sp?>
-
Analyzed. Almost had it ;)
-
hehehe
-
How many pages is this thing taking up?
-
54? Jeez! How many pages was the old one?
-
Paddin' the Clone Thread
Dropped out at 52 pages
...and then there was the one before that.
-
paddin'
got locked up at 223 pages.
We really are littering the ether aren't we ;D
-
I like that about this bunch.
And yet after HOW MANY years I still have yet to break 2 grand.
Makes me realize what a den fraggin' mother I really am around here ::)
-
Of course I issue a lot less abuse these days now that Gabe is in prison (or being used for parts) and incommunicado.
Maybe I'm just mellowing. Haven't had out the vice grips in quite some time.
-
Don't worry, one of these days you'll break 2000 posts. Then another day you'll surpass 3000, then 4000, etc. All in due time ;)
-
Of course at your rate, my kids will pass you by. ;D
-kv
-
oooo, sick burn!
-
Or you can have yours reset like I have had mine done a few times ;D
Then nobody knows how much you posted exactly!
-
you did that on purpose?
-
don't worry zone - you'll make the 2k soon enough ;)
-
you did that on purpose?
Yeah I remember him asking me to do that. It was around the time when people were first hitting 1000 and there was a race to see who would get to 2000 first.
-
you did that on purpose?
Yeah, I was getting a lot PMs from Gabe about it. It was getting pretty annoying so I took myself out of the race.
That was the gist of it.
-
Well, as you may have guessed, post count really isn't a biggie with me. I'm more in to quality than quantity...
And although it was a pretty okay burn, Kid just doesn't motivate me to pull out the old 'grips :P
-
Well, as you may have guessed, post count really isn't a biggie with me. I'm more in to quality than quantity...
And although it was a pretty okay burn, Kid just doesn't motivate me to pull out the old 'grips :P
Zone, you have grips. I wound never believe that... :zone:
;D
-
hehehehe, I'm liking this. Some activity
-
I helped make Zone her 'grips,' but I'm not nearly as incorrigible as Gabe.
Honestly, of all the slowdowns at the Pub, I think this one has been the most extensive. I kinda blame myself- Ruski and I haven't been playing much Shadowrun recently; we took a break for a quick Serenity campaign, which is also a fun system.
I would like to run another PBP game on here, if anyone is interested. We need more posting!
-kv
-
hehehehe, I'm liking this. Some activity
You're welcome. ;D
Actually, I've got an agenda. I may post some stuff on another thread pretty soon. Some of you even expressed interest in reading such stuff once upon a time - again, I'm a slow worker but thorough ;) I think I'll be wanting feedback, so gather 'round children.
More on this cryptic later...
-
I'm interested in a PBP if I don't have to create anything. I'm lazy.
-
no thanks. Not a fan of PBP.
-
Its not gonna be a PBP, that's what Kid offered :P
-
And now we have 56 pages. See? I'm getting this padding thing, finally...
-
haha, about time.
-
I wonder how long it will take to get to 57.
;)
-
not very long if we keep this up
-
So, is there a PBP? I wouldn't mind to participate if someone creates the character. I just want to type and make the decision of the character. I don't want to go through the rest of the creation stuff. I don't have that much time and I'm lazy..
Oh yeah, did I mention how lazy that I am?
-
Oh yeah, did I mention how lazy that I am?
Git offa da couch ya bum! ;)
-
not very long if we keep this up
And isn't that about the sum total of every guy's life ;)
-
yea, pretty much...and boom goes the dynamite
-
We're not at 57 yet! Save your dynamite!
-kv
-
hehehe, that was a family guy quote
-
We're not at 57 yet! Save your dynamite!
-kv
How 'bout now?
Edit: Nope!
-
But we are getting closer with each post.
I was thinking reaching 57 will feel the same as 56.
Chummers...we must be board ;)
-
But, much like school, from this tedious boredom: accomplishment!
Actually, I'm going to be moving soon (like six blocks- but into a house with friends, rather than an apartment with just my wife!), so I might not be around the pub as much until we get settled in.
Once we do, you're all invited over for a BBQ!
-kv
-
Will you pay for my plane ticket? ;)
If so, then I'll definitely come:apoc:
-
Really? Hunny and I just made an offer on our 1st house. I'm angsting big time.
-
HA!
It was I that achieved 57!
-
HA!
It was I that achieved 57!
congrats on the accomplishment Zone ;)
-
Congrats Zone! On post 57 and the house. We bought our place a couple years back so it's a big achievement.
-
yea, grats on the house :)
-
What kind of house is it?
-
the kind you live in...
-
the kind you live in...
*rimshot*
Ahahahahha
-
What kind of house is it?
Old and in need of a great deal of work...botox, nipping, tucking, etc. The only way we can afford a big 'un rather than a cold water walkup
-
the kind you live in...
I gave you a Karma for that! It was well timed ;D
-
thankyou <bows>
-
Now that the Karma Wars are so long over I tend to forget that option is even there
-
yea, me too. I had completly forgot about it till Apoc said somethin
-
yea, me too. I had completly forgot about it till Apoc said somethin
I'll edit your Karma to -100, then you'll never forget :p
-
I noticed that smite buttons have disappeared.
-
Not from where I'm sitting, big guy, want me to smite someone?
-
actually, I'd like to applaud Jester
;D
-
You need a minimum of 1000 posts to use the karma feature ;)
-
I made it there once...I'll get there again. ;)
-
you can do eeet!
-
Hmmm, I'm really much more of a smite type, Apoc, but I'll be happy to take that under advisement ;D
-
Fair enough :zone:
-
I am a good little boy ;D
-
Awww... the little nut-crushing robot doesn't look nearly as cool with the gray background... it looked pretty awesome on the black.
I guess I could take another crack at it... or just leave it alone. I think I'll choose the lazier option. :D
-kv
-
of course ;)
-
So what happened to the Yes/No game? I've been waiting but nobody responds..
Get off your tails.:apoc:
-
don't feel much like playing that
-
It seems to have gotten quiet again.
What's everybody up to?
-
I've been playing Fallen Earth (http://www.fallenearth.com)
-
patiently waiting for my Space Wolves codex for Warhammer 40K :o
-
Hey Jester,
I was curious, did you every use that stuff that I translated into Japanese a while back?
What was it for?
-
It's for a Warhammer 40K army I've been having in the works. And, yes I have. The army is based on the Scorpion Clan from the Legend of the Five Rings card game.
-
The scorpions? How nice!
And which codex?
-
regular vanilla codex. But they will be put on hold since my forst army will be getting a new codex soon and I'll be adding to them. FOR RUSS! FOR THE ALLFATHER!
-
I remember years ago playing 40k and there was a guy who always played Space Wolves. He talked about how bad-ass they were and how they couldn't lose and how many hours he had spent painting them. In one of our annual 10,000 point games he was one of the first to get his army wiped out and his named hero and named dreadnaught got killed by a regular chaos space marine commander and a regular chaos space marine dreadnaught. He left after picking up his last piece on the board, guess he couldn't handle the ridicule haha
-
lol, that's what he gets. Any army can be beaten at any time. It's on how well the player knows how to use his army. In my case, the dice hate me. If my dice ever roll average I can be dangerous. But my with my luck I tend to fail alot of armor saves.
-
I found this on the Shadowrun quote page...it made me laugh:
On a run involving a toxic ant spirit hive ... the runners are confronted by the hive's "queen" when they are JUST about to make it to the team's ACP. The initial introductions went something like this...
GM: The ant spirits part to reveal a lithesome female with fiery red hair and emerald green eyes. She regards you all for a moment before asking, "Who are you?"
Player 1: "Hunter."
Player 2: "Bleys."
Player 3: "Stone."
Richard: "Orkin Man."

ROFL!!!!!!
-
Ahahahahhahahahah that's great! :D :D :D
-
Ha! That was pretty good! ;D
-
hells yea, my space wolf stuff came in!
-
The Pub was down for a bit..had a few weird errors messages for a few days.
-
Yeah it was weird. I think the webhost was updating/upgrading and it broke our SQL database. Should be all good now (fixed the day before yesterday I think).
-
I noticed that myself
-
Yep. Messed me up. When is the world going to learn it must dance to MY tune. Sheesh.
-
Most Online Today: 3. Most Online Ever: 81 (September 12, 2009, 03:27:14 PM)
Really?
81?
-
I very much doubt that- I think that was the time when the hacker-bots were posting spam-porn all over the place. That would make sense.
-Logain
-
yea, that does. What's everyone up to?
-
I'm in school full time, and working. I posted a new bit of fiction, for y'all to enjoy!
-Logain
-
cool beans ;D
-
Yeah, I think that our actual online was like 14 or so before spam-bots. That's when the Pub was pumpin!
-
aaahhhh, the good ole days
-
Anyone see/read my new bit of fiction?
-Logain
-
have not. I'm not much for long reading on the internet. Actually lately the only reading I've been doing is my Warhammer adventures. I'll try when I get a chance
-
I sense change in the pub...
-
CHAAAAANGE!
-
It could be that feeling when everything changes but really stays the same. ;)
-
I'm still here... but I guess I could be here more.
What change do you sense? Is it one of the good ones?
-kv
-
CHANGE!!!!
remember guys, if I'm not logged in, I'm probably lurking via e-mail.
we gotta liven this place up a bit.
-
LAAA LALALALA <starts dancing around>
-
Nah, it was more like somebody moved something, or (gads!) cleaned something. Has one of you bustards been tidying up or something?
-
no, if I did that I'd forget where I put it
-
Cha cha cha changes!
Dunno what you mean Zone ;)
-
lol, me neither. That's why I was being silly
-
::) You are all such...guys!
-
Correction... Dragon Guy. ;)
-
Pfffff, species is immaterial, a guy is a guy is a guy and subject to guyisms and guyitis
-
dang
-
yea, you're absolutely right. Oh, subject change, I just saw Zombieland, great movie by the way, and Talahasee is exactly what I pictured Jester to be like, all the way down to his osbession with twinkies!
-
oh god thats frightening
-
hehehe
-
Okay, now you're scaring me, Jester
-
jester you need to track down gabe
-
he's still in North Carolina.
-
he's still in North Carolina.
You're the closest, go get him! hahahahaha :D
-
lol, nooooooo
-
I would track him down, but being on the opposite side of the country (CalFree), I think it should be the closest one. You don't have to o grab him and handcuff him to anything- just give your friend a call, tell him his friends at the Pub miss him, and what the hell, do they not have internet there or something? ;D
-kv
-
he's still in North Carolina.
Oh, yeah? What prisons do they have there?
-
lol, dunno. Last I talked to him was a few months ago. He's still doing well.
-
As I write this, the clock ticks over to 24 hours of in pub time for me...thats after what? how many years since the AOL (that was AOL wasn't it) set up? and a grand total of 1938 posts (less than one per day) I am the freaking tortise of this site. Do I win?
-
I'm still trying to my count back up to 500 so I can applaud/smite people ;)
-
start typing pad pad pad
-
A week long silence on the board...everbody in finals? I thought some of us were citizens all ready ;)
-
I think we need Gabe back
-
LOL how good at you at sweet talking parole boards
-
i just got my computer up and running again. My video card went out. But I got me a muuuuch better one now.
-
ooo mutliple vowels, must be nice
-
i went from a 512 meg GeForce 8800 to a 1.5 gig GeForce 9600. So yes, much ;D
-
I have a GTX 470 :p
(My 8800 also died)
-
hmmm, sounds like the 8800 is a lemon. I have a friend that happened to as well and another who is having issues with his.
-
I've been thinking to start my Foreigner in Japan column up again....
Before I start, I thought I would get some feedback on topics to write about..
Any ideas or requests?
-
well, I've always enjoyed hearing about your day to day happenings. Anything you find interesting.
-
Can you get your hands on a public school text book? I've been hearing interesting things about the new Japanese historiography....
-
Let me see what I can do, my daughter is in the 5th grade.
Any specific thing you want me to look for?
-
I'm gonna sing the doom song. Doom dedoom, doomdoomdoom.

Summer doldrums

yesh
-
Sorry I've been missing- I graduated from Loma Linda (woo!) but I have a few more classes to finish before my degree will get posted, so I'm living with Ruski now, and enjoying the very poor life while we try and find jobs and save for an interstate move.
Live is good.

sweet KV! Grats!

How is everyone else? I take it things have been a little quiet?
I started a Shadowrun 4th edition game on another forum (myth-weavers), which you can read here: http://www.myth-weavers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16428
I'm proud of how it's going (we did Back to the Shack first, because no one there had ever played it in 4th edition, and that seemed like a mistake), and if you want to read the behind-the-scenes stuff (including an outline of the general plot with spoilers), apply to be a reader, and I'll add you.
That requires an account, but at least its free to register.
Aside from that, I've been good.
Trying to check in here more, so I can stay in touch with all of you.
-kv (aka L0g41n)
-
Yeah, it's slow because none of us is motivated to post as much as before ;D
I keep thinking that I'm going to then I never get around to it then next thing I know...it's been like two years :o
-
80 yeeeaaaars!
-
Weird how we few still come back here after all this time. Must be the quietest little pub on the grid...my kind of place ;D
-
Free drinks for the next hour!
-
YaY! ;D
-
yummie!
-
Did any of you check out my game?
-kv
-
I'm all for it...but I prefer to help out as an NPC or something like that.
-
Hey, everyone seems pretty quiet- although Zone is still posting interesting things in her secret place. :D
It's hot here- 106 during the day, cools down to 89 at night. Got to love late summers in the desert.
I had a question- are you guys big on the Kid_Vid name, or can I change it for something more in line with my other forums?
In other forums (such as Myth-weavers, where I run games), I use the handle L0g41n, the name of my old hamster. For flavor's sake, I'd be willing to stick with this one, but it's been on my mind for the last few weeks, and I thought I would present it to the group.
-kv
-
your name, change it as you want. It will take a bit of getting use to but it's still gonna be you.
-
For now, I'm okay with it. If I'm referring people to this site with questions about Shadowrun, I might consider changing it, but for now I think I'm okay.
-kv
-
Hey, everyone seems pretty quiet- although Zone is still posting interesting things in her secret place. :D
-kv
Seriously? This is how you want to word this? Is this a big neon billboard trying to coax Gabe back?
-
Well, it may not have gotten gabriel back, but it sure as heck caught my attention :) keep the secrets coming Kid!
-
Honestly, that's with the revision. I was going to change it, but the double entendre amused me.
Also, I'm not sure what to call it, other than that- I dare not speak its name. :D
-kv

PAD
-
Another PAD..only 4 more to go then I get my SMITE button back after my post reset ;D
-
Officially over the limit for the Applaud/Smite button but it didn't appear....INGO...helpppp!
-
woohoo!
-
Heh. I was going to ask if we still had applaud/smite buttons, but they are right over there.
I think it was an Ingo-thing once you hit the post count, not an automated thing.
In other news, what's up, Doc?
-kv
-
I can still smite - but haven't even thought about it in a while...shall I domonstrate :D
-
<hides behind KV>
-
Officially over the limit for the Applaud/Smite button but it didn't appear....INGO...helpppp!
It's 1000 posts ;)
-
Okay, I'll get there again someday! :P
-
Better step it up- no one likes a fat, lazy dragon!
(Is glad Apoc doesn't have a smite button at the moment)
-kv

(Is glad Apoc doesn't have a smite button at the moment)
-kv
But don't dragons have excellent memories? ;)
-
We'll see. :D
-kv
-
We have excellent memories as long as it doesn't exceed 1000 years...then things might get a bit blurry.
-
Well, by then bell bottoms will be back in style again anyway so who cares :P
-
Well, Bell Bottoms and other things happen in the sixties that can make ones memory a little fuzzy.
What were we talking about again?
-kv
-
bongos
-
Aren't we always?
Seriously, what is everyone up to?

downloading Knight of the Old republic from steam. They have it on sale today for $2.50.

I finally scored a Sandman T-shirt. and Hunny said he looks more like Alice Cooper. I ask you. http://bewareoftheblog.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/sandman1.jpg?w=450&h=719

I found this while looking through old images on my photobucket:
-kv
-
i can kinda see it.
-
You found a small red x? Cool
-
Actually, it was the graphic that I made for Zone, with the clampy-claws and then blowing a kiss.
I also found the old one for Luna.
But they weren't posting, even though I checked the link twice.
-Logain
-
Wow, there hasn't been any posting here in a long time... what's up with that?
I feel so lonely, here all by myself.
-kv
-
So ronery! So ronery!
-
Boomshakalaka!!
-
lol
-
Just shake your rump....boomshakalaka...Just shake your rump :apoc:
-
I just got this image of Gir from Invader Zim dancing
-
He. I actually looked for the image, before I realized that you imagined it.
I only saw Mega Man. :D
-kv
-
i looked too, for some reason porn popped up...
-
That's a lot more embarassing when it happen at work.
I remember I was researching gravestone art on the image search and for some reason all male porn pics popped on to the screen right there in front of me and the next guy up the totem poll - he knew it was a glitch but boy was he red. Never saw something x'd so fast
-
lol. that's funny
-
I think it's kinda sad that this forum had dwindled to the four (or five) of us posting in one thread.
Should I post some more fiction? Run reports (Ruski has been trying to keep a Shadowrun group together), run ideas?
Details of the Shadowrun I put together on another forum (Myth-weavers.com)?
-kv
-
Hey, it shows dedication!
-
I love you guys! ;D
-
Awww :-*
Look at it this way - it took us this long to weed out all the pikers and frackwits
-
Putting this thread to its proper use....
-
I am soooo close to 2000 posts right now....
-
I really feel the need to ...
-
make that happen before I...
-
log off today.
-
Do I get a party now?
I think its a record. Longest time ever for a regular pubber to make it to 2K 8)
-
 :dunce: :hyper:    :propeller::bob:
:bob::zone::bob:
-
rofl!!!! congrats, Zone!!!!!
-
Hey, what the hell?
I posted the picture like three times, and it didn't work. How did you get it to post, Apoc?
Also, congrats Zone on the 2K. Welcome to the club!
-kv
-
:zone:
:bob:
You're not trying hard enough Kid ;)
-
you just got served!
-
I actually made the image, so I don't feel so bad. :D
There was one for Luna, too. I was proud of that one.
-kv
-
:mercy: :fortune: :root: :luna: :ruski: :jester: :zone: :apoc:
who else am I missing?
-
Uh... I don't have one on there. I think mine was originally the Homer (which made sense, because my icon for the longest time was Homer Simpson), but for the longest time, it's instead been Spaceman Spiff, from Calvin and Hobbes.
I campaigned for a new one a while back (two years ago, possibly more), but no one thought it was a problem.
:kv:
-kv
-
Well, we should get you one then...better late than never!
-
Since when were you Spaceman Spiff? I love Space man Spiff! Love that strip in general. Waterson is a very strange man; great for comic ideas, bad when he decides to pack up his pens and go home early - never allowed any merchendizing.
-
Bill Waterson is one of my favorite artists of all time- possibly because of those reasons.
I forgot that I was a different avatar on this forum, sorry. I mean, not really sorry, I like Ghost in the Shell too, just a little embarrassed that I forgot.
- kv
-
I'm with you on Waterson, I have the entire Calvin and Hobbes collection.
-
Do you have it in a book or on the net? If online, can you send it to me?
I never read everything.
-
sorry, I have it in a 3 book compilation
-
Yeah, I have a bunch of those smaller books like Something under the Bed is Drooling.
How much disposable cash do you have?

Flash from the past!
Pipboy actually signed up for my other roleplaying forum (Mythweavers), and started posting. Oddly enough, about Fallout. I mentioned that I had seen him in another forum (didn't go as to mentioning the bad taste that whole episode left in my mouth), and said that he loved Fallout.
It was just weird to see the same guy in another forum- I mean, he has to be pulling the same crap, to keep hopping forums all these years later. Honestly, mythweavers is a better fit for him, as they have a specific sub-forum for posters and flame threads.
Mark was looking over my shoulder when I saw the new post, and said 'Wow, I wonder if he's still an asshole?" - I think that statment about sums it up.
-kv
-
Ewwww, now I have to go scrub the wainscoting with bleach to make sure we don't get reinfested....
-
lol, close encounters of the douche kind.
-
I really doubt that he's going to follow me- I have a different name on that forum (Logain), and I haven't mentioned what a complete douche-hat he was on the other forum, although I did mention that I had seen him in other forums.
If he was half the douche at other forums that he was here, he'll know to watch his step.
- Logain
-
I don't guess I'll be seeing the creature anywhere else.
Oh, and Kid? "douche-hat?"
-
Well, as a male, the idea of a douche (the feminine hygiene product, not the french word for shower), is kind of uncomfortable. I mean, I understand that it can get dirty and stinky, I just don't want to think about it.
Pipboy is a douche-hat, because he is slimy and I don't want to be around him. Much like a douche, but he wears it around like a badge of pride.
It's a stupid made-up insult.
-kv
-
ROFL!!!!! I love it!
-
You know what? I'm gonna just go ahead and leave this conversation just lying there and go off and find a new topic...
[size=12ptso, ummmm, what is the holiday movie you least object to being 'marathoned' 'cause I'm sure we'll be seing a few in the coming weeks.[/size]
-
least object? Well that would have to be "A Christmas Story" It's my favorite. P.S. Rudolph comes on tomorrow night at 7 CST on CBS :)
-
I think X-mas Story is the best holiday movie ever....or Christmas Vacation.
I can't watch them on TV but I have the DVDs.
-
My wife always wants to watch National Lampoon: Christmas Vacation every year, so I'll probably end up watching that.
I'm a big fan of Christmas Story, and I'm surprisingly okay with Harry Potter being a holiday staple.
My favorite Christmas movie- of all time -
Die Hard.
Followed closely behind by: Die Hard 2: Die Harder (it got points deducted for a stupid title).
The other movies are good, but they don't take place at Christmas time.
-kv
-
aaahhh, national lampoon. love it
-
While I really like A Christmas Story - always did even when it was a series of anecdotes in a book - I gotta throw in with the real classics like It's a Wonderful Life and The Bishop's Wife I love these movies and the actors are doing some of their best in them. They both have little gem moments and lines that are just worth the watching. In the latter, for instance, an angel comes to Earth in answer to a prayer and when he goes through the bishop's mail and is asked if he's expecting a letter, he says 'no, but should one arrive, the stamp would be worth saving.' I love little throwaways like that. Now I have to go dig out my copies.....
-
I like white christmas
-
December 4th? That was the last action here? Pathetic, mon ami, I shake my head.
-
people are christmas shopping, maybe?
-
I've stopped in several times since then, but I don't feel like talking to myself- and if I did, I could do it in the privacy of my own home, rather than coming to an internets forum for it.
In other news, my Shadowrunner Cops game looks like it might actually get off the ground. I'm going to run it for a couple of good players, and see if it can be expanded from there.
Also, I ran Serenity (Firefly RPG) for a couple of friends- I could tell anyone who was interested about that? I have a writeup Ruski did from the session where he played.
-kv
-
I have that rulebook on my computer, never got around to really looking at it. How was it?
-
It was a lot of fun- I'll post the Write-up that Ruski did after his first session in the morning.
It's not Shadowrun, but I think you all will enjoy it.
-kv
-
sweet, sounds good
-
its intresting
-
Okay, and I posted it.
It was a fun session- they worked on a derelict for salvage, caught some scavengers, killed the scavengers, stole the scavenger's ship, beat up the pilot who dumped them, and moved on- I had a lot of fun with it, and it made the two of them excited to play further episodes.
-kv

I just noticed I only have to post 30 more times to displace the pimp on the stats board.
-
Sad, really, that I had so little to do tonight that I went and looked at the stats board.

you go girl!

I plan to get there myself eventually. Thought about paddin but just can't be bothered to pad that much.
-
yea, paddins for suckers

pad

As you see I padded the hell out of this thread...mmm...three last time. Seriously, the numbers aren't really my motivator. Can you tell?

I wish that I knew what my last post number was before I had it reset.
Numbers were my motivator before but not now.

Finally back to 530 ;)
-
lol
-
Weren't you at like 5 grand, Apoc? I know you and Gabe were on about who had more quicker or some such....
-
Yeah, I was up there but got tired of competing so pulled out of the race.
I'm always been a firm believer in, sometimes the best way to win is to deny battle. ;)
-
very wise, Mr. Dragon
-
Personally, I've always felt that the best way to win is to so overwhelm the opposition that there's no longer a point for them to fight, and they surrender without a single blow falling. :D
But to each their own- I believe yours is in Sun Tzu's Art of War. :D
- kv
-
i prefer the kick um in the balls then run method.
-
i prefer the kick um in the balls then run method.
This one tends to work fairly well. ;)
-
;D
-
Works less well on large-scale engagements. :D
But yes, cannily effective for small-term engagements. I've been caught by it once or twice, and it hasn't been a pleasant experience.
-kv
-
Ariel, Ookla, Ride!!!
-
I can proudly say that I've never been on the receiving end of that myself!
Again, don't fight the fight! ;)
-
me niether. I tend to turn the other cheek
-
Groin kick? Tried it, didn't stop me.
-
Yeah, funny, that, groin kick doesn't really do anything but piss me off
-
I wouldn't do it to you zone. I'd punch ya in a boob.
-
Actually, this was before I ever learned any martial arts- it caught me off guard because I wasn't even fighting, it was just a high school girl, and she was mad at me, so she kicked me in the juevos.
If you want to stop a fight with a woman, punch her in the face. If you want to stop a fight with a man, punch him in the throat- guys just get mad when you punch them in the face, but punching them in the throat reminds them that they have weaknesses, no matter how much training they've had.
At least, that's been my experience.
-kv
-
Usually works with the nose as well, as it's prone to breaking - painfully.
...or you can just trip and pin him, usually works as well.
-
a punch in the nose not only hurts, but makes your eyes water something fierce. subject change! I'm gonna be running Shadowrun again in about a month :). First time in years. So far I have one mage. His day job is he's a fung shui expert. I also have 2 street samurai. One is a former military sniper. The other is a big ole' melee troll. "Guns are for pussies", is his motto. I have 2 more players who haven't decided yet. I'll be running the missions that Catalyst has been making. I'm starting with season one. That one and season 2 are completly free. When I have more I'll pass it along.
-
The Catalyst game modules are a lot of fun- I'm looking forward to running them on Myth-weavers once the Shadowrun game I'm currently running finishes.
Please, let us know how your runners do!
-kv
-
that I will. One of them changes from a sniper to a stealthy thief type. the other 2 guys decided on an what they were doing. One is gonna be your typical Samurai. Guns and cyber. the other is gonna be an assassin type. We should be starting next sunday barring no shenanigans.
-
Ok, so apparently I can't log in to my actual account for some reason. I think I've forgotten the email, password, and all of that.
So what's been up folks?
NeoP

Or maybe I can remember it after the fact. Good to have my post count back. Still, what's up gang?
NeoP
-
Not much, been talking old SR with a few new people, but nothing big
-
same here, not too much. Been praying for Apoc and his family as well.
-
Yeah, I'm curious how his family is doing, and what (if anything) he feels like sharing about the tsunami and the nuclear plant. Does anyone remember where he lives in Japan?
-kv
-
it was tokyo. He's going to Illinois with his family. He doesn't know how long he will be in the states.
-
Aye.
Anything interesting happen while I was out?
NeoP
-
not really. It's been very quiet here.
-
Hey Chummers,
It's been crazy for my family and I. When I have more time, I'll try to post some more but still getting settled in the States.
Apoc
-
take your time, bro
-
Wow, been off line, and wanted to come check on the only Nippon resident I know.
Glad to see the Apocs are here and not there for now.
Whats the update on everybody else, new jobs? locations? skin lesions? what?
-
not I. Been doing my usual.
-
Whats the update on everybody else, new jobs? locations? skin lesions? what?
Nothing much, really :(
-
Yeah, skin lesions, how did you know?
Actually, mi esposa and I have made the move to the PCC-proper (Phoenix, AZ), and I've been looking for work out here. In a year of looking for a job in California, I didn't even get a single callback, and since I've been here (about a month), I've had three callbacks and one interview. So... hopefully I'll have a job soon.
- kv
-
Good luck KV!
-
Thanks, Jester!
Actually, I still don't have a job, but I'm going to start applying to the places I don't want to go back to (the movie theater, Home Depot, warehouse work), because I'm just that desperate for a job.
Also, it says there are new posts, but I see nothing new!!!?!?!
What is this insanity?
- kv
-
buahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
-
My first game went pretty well. The first adventure was a real quick one. was done in 2 hours. So I was able to run the second adventure too. I do believe I have some creative guys here. To start things off 2 of the runners don't have vehicles. They decided to buy a bus pass. And at one point there was a guy they were trying to extract. He was being held in a delapidated building on the 3rd floor. so the troll and his buddy went to the second floor right below where the principle was tied up and crashed through the floor. Pulled the guy through while the other 2 guys who were on the 3rd floor caused a distraction. I think I laughed through most of the day. ;D
-
Haha cool! I once ran an adventure where the runners were in a building like that. They were on the 1st floor and the baddies were on the second. The baddies were moving around and the runners could clearly hear the foot steps of the baddies. One of the runners decides he's going to shoot through the ceiling at the baddie on the second floor. He rolled pretty high, and I rolled badly, so one shot and one thud, hahahah
-
lol, that's great! I forgot to mention that one of the guys running the distraction tossed a grenade. Brought damn near the whole place down. They made it out, but I can't say the same for 3 of the 4 baddies. I may bring her back all pissed off.
-
I once had a game where the runners found out the bad guy.. well, girl in this case.. was hanging out at this club. So they storm the place to have a face-to-face. Not the smartest thing, but the character was being role played very well and this is what he would do. All the other players kinda just followed his lead. Anyway of course they get surrounded during this meeting so the lead character shoots her in the face, and burns karma to guarantee success. This was my main bad guy, who they weren't supposed to fight until way later since she was a vampire magician, so she fell over with a flash of light. He looks down to see that the bullet grazed her temple so the troll in the group (isn't there always a troll?) picks her up and puts her head in his mouth to use her as a human shield for their escape. The next session they get a little bit of information out of her, as much as she was willing to tell them, and I hit a writer's block kinda and couldn't come up with anything else to do... so the game fizzled out. I might have to have a second look at that campaign and rewrite some of the stuff to run it again...
Things that make you go hmm...

I once ran a game where the characters were working for the mob, and didn't like it.
The mob didn't like them either, but was using them to do dirty work that they couldn't get their hands dirty with- especially stuff involving other crime families and acts of terrorism.
Anyway, one of the jobs, the mob guys ended up double-crossing the runners. Trying to kill two birds with one stone. The runners didn't like this, and knew who hired them, so they went and confronted the mob boss (who I had named 'Mister Bigglesworth' after the cat from Austin Powers).
The mob boss said "What? You don't like it? File a complaint." He laughed, a deep belly laugh, thinking that no one would be stupid enough to try anything with all his goons around, and even if they did, his boys would hose the place down with lead until only a smear of runner scum remained.
Ruski, one of my players, activated wired reflexes, whipped out a pistol, and burned a bunch of karma to go first. He fired, point-blank, into Mister Bigglesworth's head, in his words 'turning it into a canoe.'
Mister Bigglesworth is dead, everyone else gets to act. The goons fire (their readied action, in case anyone did anything stupid). One of the other runners, the street sam, is wearing armor, and best able to resist automatic gunfire. The other ones, not so much. The street sam (Ray, I think his name was) dragged his two best friends- the one dumb enough to shoot a mobster in the face in full view of his henchmen, and the other one close enough for him to grab, and makes a run for it.
The rigger is outside, and ready to go (they weren't complete morons). The goons are still shooting- Ruski's character is bleeding out, the other guy is bleeding out, and Ray the Sam is taking a lot of damage. He throws Ruski's corpse into the van, sprinting at 50kph, misses when he tries to throw the other guy in, and decides to make one last attempt to throw in the 'other guy' before jumping in himself (his other choice was to drop the other guy, and save himself).
Makes the throw with the other guy, takes damage and goes down before his next initiative pass. The rigger and the 'other guy' were the only ones to survive. Saddest part was that the 'other guy' was a jerk- he fired at gangers through the windows of the rigger's car, refused to take part in tense negotiations because they were 'dangerous' leaving the group rigger to try and grab a briefcase when another Johnson tried to double-cross them; and that is the guy who survived.
In our group, a TPK (or mostly party kill) was the signal that it was someone else's turn to GM. Ruski had gone before me, I went, so the Jerk's player was the next GM, and he spent five or six session with his former character as Mister Johnson, blowing up and messing up everything the runners had done for the mob up until that point; before, of course, screwing over the runners himself, and leaving town with all the profits.
When it swung back around to my turn to GM again (a couple years later), the runners were hired to extract someone, and this same Jerk's security company happened to be in the same area, so they were paid extra to trash the place and steal any paydata they could find. Just for yuks, because most of the players were the same. :D

Hunny has been making noises about getting a game together again - he made noises last year too but nothing happened. Now that we're multiple hours away from da guyz, there is a dearth of role players - there are game players who role dice here, but not much in the way of role players. Well, we've trained others....
Did you guys ever play Rifts? It is the one RP I really don't like. He's been reading its books, but I'm pushing for SR...
-
I used to play Rifts a lot, my brother has a huge collection of books. I actually really liked the setting as far as a game world goes, you can basically integrate any idea you come up with into the game by explaining it came from another dimension. There's a huge diversity of character classes and abilities, and with a few expansion books you can multiply that even further. My favorite has always been the Juicer Handbook, which explains characters who hook themselves up to harnesses that inject steroid type drugs into them constantly, hence the name. The drugs makes them extremely strong and resilient, but drastically reduces their lifespan. I once played a "mega-juicer", yes that was the class name, and basically he could punch people and deal MDC damage (more on that below) as well as take MDC shots to the chest. The price for this power is a lifespan of 3-5 years or so, and in the end his body would slowly heat up over the last few weeks until he would spontaneously combust into a huge ball of flame until there was only ashes remaining.
The thing I don't like about Rifts is the MDC/SDC system. SDC stands for Structural Damage Capacity iirc, and it's the amount of damage a gun or bomb we use today would do. MDC is Mega Damage, and is basically 100 times more powerful due to technology from other dimensions. So a standard stick of dynamite weighs about 0.5 pounds, according to Wikipedia, but a stick of dynamite made with interdimensional technology or materials would do 100 times the amount of damage (so effectively it's 50 lbs of dynamite). The MOAB (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GBU-43/B_Massive_Ordnance_Air_Blast_bomb), the current largest bomb in the US arsenal, uses 18,700 lbs of H6 explosive, which is 1.35 times more powerful than dynamite. That makes it effectively 25,245 lbs of dynamite. Doing the math, you would need 505 sticks (252.5 lbs) of MDC dynamite to equal the minimum amount of destructive power of the MOAB (which is normally dropped from the back of a C-130 cargo plane as it's too large to fit in any conventional bombers). Compare that to the Davy Crockett (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-388_Davy_Crockett) nuclear weapon system. Just about all characters will be able to dish out and take MDC damage. A standard laser pistol does 1d4 MDC damage iirc, so imagine walking into a town with this pistol and leveling it with a few clips.
I ran a Rifts game a few times and always tried to make MDC equipment as rare as possible. I also ran the game so my normally combat hungry players would watch and wait rather that jump into battle, knowing they have a limited supply of MDC equipment, and the bad guys could potentially be able to dish out much more than they could.

Love the setting, but I'm like you, the rules are too wonky. Fells too much like a pissing contest. There's a saying where I live, friends don't let friends play Paladium.
-
Words to live by Jester :)
There's another system on the table; White Wolf.
they all ready know I won't play Masquerade, I hate vampires (never could understand the appeal) but there are other supernaturals...we played Immortal once a while back, that was okay.
-
I was never a big fan of White Wolf. I've played Vampire a bunch of times, a hodge-podge WoD game (with Vampires and Werewolves, etc), I've even played WW's Street Fighter game (which funnily enough I liked the most).
People who are really into Vampire seem to be closet self-righteous pricks who get to release their inner self through the game.. at least to me anyway :P
Maybe it was just some of the people I played with? I always played Malkavian and I thoroughly enjoyed messing with those people's minds. They never knew if I was serious when I said or did things haha!
If I recall correctly, Mummies are actually the most powerful creatures in WoD, except to get to that power level you need a ton and a half of experience.
-
Not a fan of vampires myself. I would like to try Mage: The Ascention one day. That one sounds really cool. Especially the whole part where if a mundane catches you casting spells you could cause some kind of paradox and rip a hole in the universe!
-
I played a bit of vampire as a teen. Never got the hang of the pretentiousness, which I must admit I mostly recall seeing with people who'd only ever played vampire as opposed to roleplayers who played vampire as one of many games.
We also played werewolf - so much more werewolf than I really cared to, but it was easy to get certain people to play it, so...
Mage? New mage or the original game? They are so different as to bear little but cosmetic similarities.
-
I had no idea there was a new one...

Sounds like... Call of Cthulu? Except you are the mundane and your brain explodes when you see magic?
-
I played Vampire a little in high school (and had a similar experience to those detailed here), and a couple years ago, a friend convinced us to try WoD, and started a Hunter game. Of course, he made every mistake possible- DM NPC running the show, impossible puzzles, refusal to admit he misspoke- it had a lot of problems.
But it was more fun than the previous time I played. :D

Once I decided I was right in really hating the vampires, I did develope a character from The Changeling, a Sluagh information broker who was okay with werewolves but had a real problem with blood suckers.
My immortal character was Grand Duchess Tatiana Romanov - ever wonder why one of the sisters was missing from the mass grave?
Last night Hunny was reading books for the Star Wars RP...so maybe WW is out now in any case. One of the best games EVER played was SWRP, so I'll wait to see what comes out in the wash
-
wich version of star wars? Saga or West End? personally I prefer West End. It feels more like star wars where as Saga feels like D&D in space.
-
If you're looking for a new game, I'd really recommend Serenity (Coretex System RPG, by Margaret Weiss), or Fate (especially the Dresden Files book). Both are great games, and take a more active imagination to deal with problems.

-
or if you want something super hero oriented, try Mutants and Masterminds.
-
IMO, the game is fun when the people involved are fun, regardless of game system. That said, I do think some game systems can make it easier to have fun. Even the most complicated game system, with the right people, can lead an entertaining session. D20 for example, is a very simple system. Simple enough that I find it kind of boring. However, I would still play it with my friends in a heartbeat, since it's my friends that make the game. Quality of people over all ;)
-
that's true. Haven't really thought about it like that.
-

West End. Huge handfuls of dice to chuck, in impossible situations, when you burn your Force points, and every advantage you can manage, and you know its really a good fookin luck roll...made two of those in the course of a years gaming. You try landing an Imperial shuttle after you've been EMP'd otherwise.
Anyway, the consensus is now a draconic campaign through the ADD system - I gotta get me a dragon character. I gotta admit, I'm wondering about playing in an all dragon party but if it comes off, I'll let you know how it goes
-
Council of Wyrms?
-
Sounds like my kind of crowd. ;)
-
If you use the Dragonlance setting it definatly can be done.

I am so bummed.
My goldfish is dying...
yeah I know it's a goldfish, 39 cents at Walmart,
but this one we won at the county fair...FOUR YEARS AGO
The life span for her ilk is usually measured in hours. She has beaten the odds for so long, it's kind of depressing now that she is bent sideways and drifting toward tank bottom, her gills barely moving. Sigh
-
Sorry to hear that Zone :(
Indeed though it looks like the fish beat all odds. Our cockatiel died last week. We don't even know why, but we suspect old age since these birds live 15-20 years on average and we know he was at least 12. Still though, there have been cases of these birds living over 30 years so yeah... :(

That is total suckage Zone.

Did I tell you guys we had a burial at sea...well okay we emptied the tank (and the deceased) into the creek out back. Pretty sure the neighbors would have had something to say about a flaming viking longboats floating down the stream so we went small
-
flaming longboat would've been cool though - even in miniature!

I am now the only person at the pub using anything other than the default look for the board (in this case black box). I know that, because the thingie tells you how many are using each example.
I'll probably change again because I think this one is inducing a low grade headache....
-
What do you use then?

Sorry Zone, I still owe you some other themes. I'll try and get them installed by this weekend.

As the "Father" of the paddin' thread, I'm glad to see that it still alive!!!
Pad, Pad
-
padding is still alive? hmmm... although my 11,000 post count is currently unsurpassed.
Apoc reset his in a fit of dragon convoluted plotting. Jester and Gabe both use to be in the running...
oh well. some records just weren't meant to be broken...

Yay, Ruski found the pub again!

Oooh, theme shopping, thanks, hun :-*
Not much for shopping usually, but, themes get shifted as often as troll socks...probably more, actually

I heard that Mauve has more horse-power.

May I make a motion to move this particular thread into retirement - it's over 1100 posts and 76 pages. If we want to continue the tradition, I further move that a new 'padding' thread (Bride of Paddin', perhaps) be established.
Discussion?
-
Sounds good. Start a new padding thread; and we'll move this one to a less-trafficked-area.
-
Or just lock it ;)
