Alright I have waited ever so patiently for somebody to start a new PBP game. Since nobody has done anything I decided to take matters into my own hands. Would anybody be interested in playing? I would like to know about how many people I would be dealing with, which would then determine which one of my runs out of my BIG BOOK OF DEATH I'd use on you! ;D So let me know.

I'd b e willing to play, too. I'm a little too burned out (with GMing various other things, and lots of games in real life with friends and brothers) and busy to run a game, but I'm more than capable of playing.

It would be 3rd edition. I'm pretty laid back. I allow characters to start with top notch shit if they can give me a good enough background (ex. you can have 1-2 items with an availability over 8 if you give me enough of a reason why you would posses it, but remember the better you are, the better your enemies will be). You can use priority system or point based (123 points). You don't have to write me an autobiography on your character, but I am heavy into roleplay so I'd like to know a lil something about them.
I don't tie a fixer or Johnson or anything like that together in common. I'll figure out some way, after reading all the backgrounds, into incorporating you guys together into a team. Now have patience with Nike, she is still new. She's never done a PBP game before. And KV is done and maybe ROOT...anybody else? We'll give the deadline to join by Friday the 16th. Character submission by Wednesday the 21st and hopefully be started by Friday the 23rd. Sound good?

Sounds good to me. Can I PM you my character concept? It looks like Ruski is pushing for us to move into 4th edtion again, so I'll never get the chance to play him.

Well he's right, I have not done a PBP game before. But I do believe I can do it. This whole idea sounds great. All of ya'll sound like fun so I'm sure we'll have a blast ::)

Alright tomorrow is the deadline for who's in. Right now Kid and AJ are in for sure. Maybe Nike. Anybody else interested? BTW I got both of your characters but I am missing contacts for both of you. You contact link led to a deadend KV.

Alright today is the deadline. I have AJ and Kid that have both submitted characters already. Nike is in, her and I are gonna work on making her a good character (like I said she's still new). If anybody else wants in let me know by the end of the day...or have your character submitted to me by Wednesday February 21. If everything goes as planned we'll be able to kick off Friday the 23rd. I'm excited and nervous...I've never GM'd for people I didn't know in real life, so I hope I live up to everyone's expectations.
Side Note: This is 3rd edition game. Priority based or point based (123 points). No need for an incommon contact. Please submit background (even if its a quick note). If you want any gear with an availability higher then 8 give me a karma and we're cool. No really just explain how your character would have it and let me know. I'm pretty laid back about that. Let's see anything else. Oh I will give you guys a hint, maybe I'll make it more of a riddle: "It runs and hides when somebody's in sight, unless dark of night is in plain sight." (You know that actually has nothing to do with the run...but I thought it sounded pretty cool for a spur of the moment thing). No really the hint is this, it's highly advisiable to know a smuggler or somebody out of Seattle. Take it for what it's worth. Speaking of which I still need contacts for AJ and Kid...

Sorry, I either accidently deleted the contact list she sent me, or I never got one (accidently deleting seems more likely, because it took me a while to figure out the "message delete" buttons, and I deleted more than a few messages when I would accidently click the wrong one.
So... yeah. AJ might have them still, though.

Hell nah Mercy!!! Oh this is gonna be good. I remember the last run we did, it was via IM, but drek I'm sure a PBP would be just as "fun". Just get me a character by Wednesday...I know we need some magic or a decker (although I can provide NPC decker support for the group).

AJ, if you know how many contacts you had, just make them up again. I sent Krazi the PM where you sent me your character, but I think you put contacts on a seperate PM, one that got deleted.

It's no problem. I've pretty much got my run idea down. I'm gonna warn you guys, it's kinda stupid, but I enjoy the roleplaying aspect far more then just shootin them up. So if it's stupid I apologize ahead of time, I do have more "combat friendly" runs, but I'm kinda sketchy on a PBP game if that is a great idea or not.

Sure chum...the deadline for character submission is Wednesday the 21st. If your character is not in by then you're just gonna have to wait till I host my next game...

Yes I just received your character. I was a bit surprised when I first saw him, and I did a little research to double check a few things. Where I'd normally disallow a character of this type, only because I don't believe in "hybrid" style your character has chosen (ex: magic/machine two very different ideologies). I'm interested in seeing how you play him. So I approve.
So for the rest of you playing, Curris' character, Ark, is a decker/mage. So that pretty much covers what we've been missing. AJ and Kid_Vid are street sams, and Nike...is unsure still what exactly she wants to be.

Thanks for allowing him! Yeah it's an unusual concept since magic and tech are generally exclusive. The way I see it, he loses overall power (Less magic rating, and less money from split expenses) to gain overall versitility. Also, he tries to be a nice guy.
He gets to muck about in the Physical, Astral, and Matrix. Worlds to explore man!

Which would make for a very interesting term paper. The effects of 3 different worlds...I'd imagine that would have to take a toll on his mind after awhile. Needless to say I'd like to see how you play him, and in case you missed the first warning, I revolve around HEAVY ROLEPLAY! That is what Shadowrun is after all, and it's pointless to me to just create a character that acts like a killing machine, if I wanted to do that I have Halo and various other games on XBox.
Also note today is the final day for submission. At midnight it's too late... My run idea is complete and I'm converting the idea from my head to paper now so I don't forget anything.

Does it say anywhere that street sams have to have cyber? I thought it was mostly that they lived by a code or something... although, honestly, physads are the magical equivalent of street sams, in any case.

No it doesn't say anywhere that they have to be cybered. And yes Street Sams live by the code of the street. I just had a discussion about that with Nike. And yes in a sense Physads would be the magical equivalent of Street Sams.
Well the deadline is over so it looks like AJ, KV, and Curris are in. Nike still hasn't taken the time to make a character, but she might do that later today and I'll let it slide.
I finished my run idea and talked it over with my uncle, who has minimal knowledge of Shadowrun...he loved the idea and helped me tweak this and that. But after careful consideration, I realized (not tryin to be offensive) you guys would get geeked. So I designed an entirely different one that could honestly be the easiest nuyen you'll ever make... I'll post all the details sometime Friday the 23rd and we shall begin. I have never hosted a PBP game before so I don't remember if there is a "turn base" for conversation and such so unless it's combat, speak when you have something to say, tell me what you want to do whatever whatever. But once we hit combat, please don't go out of turn. I'm sure you all know, but I figured I'd post them anyway. Cuz I wanted too, cuz I never hosted a PBP, and I want to feel special, and act like I got some power...so :P

Hey, no offense taken. I, for one, am one of the rare breeds of runners who enjoys the concept of not being geeked for easy cred. . . ;)

Mercy is an old chum of mine and I haven't heard from him since he originally posted he wanted to play. The story idea is very short and has enough leway to allow for a runner to jump in at any time...but you guys will see when we get started...

Alright I had to ask Mercy to sit this one out for two reasons. One he was late turning his character in, which I can easily let slide, but I had specifically designed this run for the runners I currently had. So I hope everyone is alright with that.
So here's the list:
Patch (Kid_Vid) - Street Sam
Ark (Curris) - Decker/Mage
Starhiker (AJ) - Physad
Trinity (Nike) - Sniper
Being as your contacts are well diverse and it would take a couple days worth of posts to roleplay the four of you together for a meet, I'm gonna make life so much easier on myself. By the powers vested in my by the creators of Shadowrun, I grant thee a free contact by the name of Fuzzy (Fixer). He's a low life son of a slitch but he's always got the goods you need, and can move you stolen drek at the speed of light. Not to mention he always knows somebody that needs something done and is willing to pay. So he's worth knowing if you can plow through the pile of bulldrek that comes with him.
Well I have a few things to take care of today, but by this afternoon/early evening I should have the first bit of the run posted. But I do have a few formalities to finish. Like I had mentioned before I'm new at GMing a PBP, so have patience with me or a stray sniper bullet will explode your head. Second, I don't really have an order in which you all should go, if you think we need that then we can go by the order I just posted, actually yes lets do that. So until we hit combat the order of play is Patch, Ark, Starhiker, then Trinity. Alright the only other question I have as a GM for a PBP is dice rolls. So KV any suggestions on how I handle that? Do I leave it up to you guys and hope you aren't lying, or do I do all the dice rolls with my nifty program?! So other then that be ready to start tonight. Goodluck you all, and I hope more importantly eveybody has fun.

dice rollling is usally left up to the players and they report thier rolls
its also a option for the gm to handle all rolls if they are so incklined

For most games I've seen (far more D&D than Shadowrun,but still) the GM can either do a huge amount of work and roll all the dice, or he can just let the players roll for themselves.
Personally, I just use the diceroller program that I got at the same time as the NSRCG, and then cut and paste it in here, with successes highlighted. Sometimes my OCD makes me re-order the rolls so that they're in numerical order from highest to lowet. But not always.

Alright we'll do it like that, if you don't have the diceroller, I'll trust you to roll good ol fashion dice yourself and then post the results...
