Title: A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: BornKrazi on February 23, 2007, 05:41:35 PM
Alright it has begun!

The order is as follows:
Patch
Ark
Starhiker
Trinity

So Patch, you're up.  Remember I enjoy the roleplaying aspect of this game more then anything!  Good luck chummers, and remember to have fun for frag's sake!

I know that he usually posts in early afternoon, but weekends may be a little wonky for him.

Perhaps it would be best to just post our day so far, until we get the call?

I'll post right now- I didn't know that your email asking for "good luck" also meant that you were posting right then, and I should come here and post too.

Sorry, I was up watching Jackass Number 2 with my brothers and fiance and Dad.

Should I post now? Or let KidVid and Krazi dialogue? I think I will post afterwards. . . makes more literary sense.

Post by: BornKrazi on February 24, 2007, 01:24:44 PM
The dialog should be brief, but yeah go ahead and wait for KV to finish...

And just to let you know, I have school and work during weekdays, so most of my posting will likely be at night (local).  I can sometimes get on tues and thurs mornings, and Fridays I have a class in a comp lab.  Weekends, it depends on what I've got going on.

Well at the rate we're going that shouldn't be a problem...
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: Curris on February 26, 2007, 08:36:22 PM
Quick question. Would you prefer every character to have their own text color to help distinguish between them, or would you prefer use a standard color system (IE, green for speech, yellow for thoughts, etc.) ?

Or any other color/grammatical issues?
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: AJStarhiker on February 26, 2007, 08:56:32 PM
Well, last game I used one color for speech and a second for dice rolls.  Everything else, I think, was the default color.
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: Nike Shox on February 26, 2007, 10:07:56 PM
well I would like to use purple if that is ok and fine with everyone. 8)
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: kv on February 27, 2007, 12:34:43 AM
I have no problem- I typically use blue as my speech color, but because this was a different type of character, I decided to do a different color. I'm a little color-blind, so I didn't even realize that you were using green too- should I switch to something else?

Or is it okay, as long as I'm bolded green[/b], and you're regular green?

Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: Curris on February 27, 2007, 01:29:26 AM
Green is my favorite color! So if you want blue, no problem by me.

I just advise using color, because in PBP it is a near approximation to voice. An easily identifiable quantity by which to determine a speaker.
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: BornKrazi on February 27, 2007, 05:24:56 AM
KV you can use bolded green or blue and that's fine.  Curris you can green if you want (it's also my favorite color).  I'll use pink for the female NPCs and I'll switch to orange for the male NPCs

I don't really mind what color you guys want to use.  Red is reserved for the day/time, and I was gonna use it for dice rolls possibly.  If you guys want to share colors for speech that's fine, if you want to use your own that's fine too.  It doesn't matter to me, whatever you prefer.

I'm not picky so whatever color will work for me.  ;)

Did you mean Ark handles "legwork" or "wetwork", Krazi? Ark can handle himself in a scrap, and fight back, sure, but killing is an avoided duty, if possible. . . Hence the need for the ruthless one. . .lol
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: BornKrazi on February 28, 2007, 08:16:49 PM
Oh yes I meant legwork and I will edit that now...and the whole point of that was Fuzzy talking to himself...doing a little roleplaying myself, as well as droppin hints as to what your characters can look forward to...

<Edit to Nike: I noticed you have 69 posts baby  ;D >

Alright everyone is set up to come to the meet, now is the time to add any type of roleplaying or any preperations you might want in.  If nobody has anything to add, I'll begin the post again.  The time will be 19:00.

Alrighty...I'll be waiting.  I might be busy tomorrow and/or later tonight...but I can still probably sneak on a couple times in case you need to roll for anything...
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: kv on March 03, 2007, 11:43:14 AM
No, don't worry about it- this is mostly going to be flavor text, with no real rolling.

The plan is to have Patch set up near matchsticks, looking for people watching the building, and then figure out the best way to get on the premises with the minimum number having seen him, and then go in and sweep the area the meet will take place for bugs, and be waiting once Fuzzy gets there.

Not so much as just trying to play this character the way I envisioned him- paranoid and ulta-careful.

Which is beautiful.  I love it when a player gets inside their characters head.  I mean this one particular character I'm creating (the one I emailed you about), I've written 12+ pages of his background and still maybe only 3/4 a way done.  I haven't even touched his character sheet yet.

Do any of you know a half decent artist that would draw a rendition of him for me?

Sorry if my post is a little big. I can break it up into pieces if you'd prefer.

P.S. I'm blue now for thoughts and speech.

P.P.S. My text block is ugly. How can I beautify my post?
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: BornKrazi on March 05, 2007, 07:45:55 PM
I haven't really had a chance to read through Curris' yet.  I didn't even realize you had posted until I looked in the OOC thread.  I'm gonna be honest I've been running around like an Asian in a sweatshop for the past couple days and I'm tired.  So I'm gonna lay down and relax, and give it a fresh look tomorrow.  So this gives AJ and Nike a chance to post anything (if they want) they are doing until 19:00
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: kv on March 05, 2007, 11:44:42 PM
Curris, it isn't hard to make you text easier to look at. You can do the fantasy novelist thig, and have your character do say something every time he does something, but I try and use color to break up the monotony of a post. Especially in a game like this, where Krazi already gave us the "24" style clock to monitor our time passage. I included driving time, but eliminated the boring stuff- I didn't bother to explain that he got something to eat while he was waiting the hour for his second run. It wasn't really important, so I just left it off.

Anyway, I liked your writing, so don't worry about it. No one is going to win any awards for design here anyway.

I may add timestamps in a later edit. And some carriage returns to break the blocks up. I'm sleepy now.

Alright guys it's about dinner time, I posted a few details for you guys.  I'm ready to start the post again, I'm gonna start with Patch at the service entrance.  I'm gonna eat my dinner so I'm giving everyone one last chance to post anything they might feel relevent before I continue...I think Nike wanted to post something too, so we're all good.  Sorry about the delay but I've had a very busy last few days, but I'm rested now and ready to go!!!

Don't worry about messing up anyone's roleplay- otherwise people who are more vocal posters (like me) will run over you, and you won't ever really get a chance to do your thing.

Post away!

I told you Nike you can post whatever you've done from the time you got off the phone with Fuzzy up until the current time in the game.  And I'm also ready for whatever AJ wants to do, or if she's happy sitting outside on her bike staring at my enomorous troll in his 1930s pinstripe suit and hat...

Don't you mean Pimpstripe?

Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: BornKrazi on March 08, 2007, 07:43:25 PM
Oh that troll is a certified pimp (he carries it in his wallet), and while yes it would be a pimpstripe suit...it is actual a vintage 1930s pinstripe suit with hat he had modified by a chinese woman in a sweatshop in New York...he's a reoccuring character in most of my stories.

Ok, I got my post up, but it's still behind the timetable you're at. Ark is just looking at the astral of Matchsticks, wondering about the setup. One quick peak and he'll go back to his car to read a book before coming in at 19:00.
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: BornKrazi on March 09, 2007, 07:33:43 AM
Nothing unsual in the astral...and if you just look into Matchsticks you wouldn't see Fuzzy, cuz he's not there yet.

I dunno Kid Vid might...but I don't.  So if someone could do it today that would be great, if not when I get home from work around 1:30-2:00 in the morning I'm gonna just write her out and have Nike go.
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: kv on March 24, 2007, 11:07:03 AM
The only thing I have is the email address she has listed for the Pub, so I emailed her just now.

I'm not worried about this so much- whatever has come up for her is probably more important than posting with us, I just want to make sure she's okay and not lying in a hospital somewhere.

Go ahead and write her out of the story. In the event that she comes back, perhaps you can try to throw her in.

I could easily implament her into the story again, and I agree with you, I hope she's okay.  Although we have just come across another problem.  Nike will not be joining us (as far as I know) anymore.  So now she's out to.  So that just leaves you and Curris.  While the run is doable with just the two of you, I'm not sure if you guys would have as much fun.  Just get back to me and let me know what you want to do.

I'm still up for it. It just means Curris and I will have to split the money two ways instead of four.

Especially when we lie to the Johnson and tell him that we work as a team, and because he changed the meet place, two of our team aren't able to make it without blowing thier cover identities.

Double the pay for double the fun!

I'm sorry chums...things are starting to quiet back down again.  It's been a bit krazi in krazi's world.  But things should be rolling again like a poorly lubed oldsmobile.

Posted!

Question though. As this message board does not support spoiler text code tags or a similiar mechanic, how do you suggest we add relevant meta-game information?

For example, dice rolls, predeclaration of actions, or player to player communication?

Recently, Patch checked his scanners to see if I was on the level. I planned to write the following.

His bag under the table reports no unusual activity on the scanner. Everything is powered down, and nothing is recieving signal. Except a cell phone on Ark's person, if that counts.

But that wouldn't fit into a In-character post, as it refers to a previous post's meta-game mechanic. . .

So, with that in mind, how should we post semi-OOC/semi-IC stuff?
Title: Re:A Rainy Day in Seattle (OOC)
Post by: kv on April 14, 2007, 12:53:15 PM
I think you just did it-

actually, the purpose if this thread is to discuss everything not having to do directly with the game itself, so discussion about the game, meta-actions, and stuff like that goes here. We usually just drop dice rolls into our posts. At least, that's how we've done it in the past- Krazi is a new GM, and he might want to do things differently.

Yeah I don't care how you want to post them.  I'm fine with doing it in the normal IC post maybe with some brackets or something just so we know its not something you're saying or anything.  If you rather post them in the OOC post that's fine too.   I've played both ways really and neither one of them seem'd any easier then the other.  And I will post later but I have to get ready for work and I've been busy since yesterday was my birthday!  So I'll post my reply when I get home from work, hopefully Trinity will have her post up as well.

Yeah- and even if you just wanted to do what YOU would do in your character's position, no one would fault you for that.

Sometimes it's hard to get in your character's head, so just do what you can until then, and move on until you can get inside thier head.

When it comes to jobs, it's now about what you know- it's about how much they think you know. If they think you know a lot, then you'll be the problem solver and the wiz kid. If they don't think you know enough, then they'll never utilize your talents.

The object is to let them know that you have more information, and never tell them you don't know how to do something.

I have a question. If Fuzzy is the fixer, why did we meet him in place of the Johnson? No face to face meet?

And in response to your OOC Krazi. I'm cool with Fuzzy. It's business for him. Besides I don't see a threat in what he said.

Well, I plan on investing some of my hard-earned illegal funding in finding out who is pulling the strings, and who wants this girl dead.

I'm also curious how much someone else would pay to keep this girl alive. ;D But we'll leave double-crosses for another run and another character. Patch doesn't go back on a deal, although he's not really comfortable making a deal without all the details.

So, is Fuzzy leaving so we can discuss business, or... ?

1 In Patch's latest post, the timestamp is inaccurate. Ok, that wasn't a question.

2 In Patch's latest post, he takes a credstick and checks the balance. But isn't Patch the one only takes cash?

No problem, just as an update (even though this should be in the Tech section), I still had errors on it when I started it up when I woke up.  But thanks to (here comes the free marketing) SpyBot Search & Destroy, I was able to successfully remove everything dangerous on the machine.  Including a very interesting registery issue that was actually deactivating my Virus Scan and Firewall.

Anyway back to Shadowrun, so yeah it's like 3 in the morning, I'm still frickin exhausted, but I'm gonna post something (honestly I don't remember without looking where we left off), and get this rolling again.  I appreciate everyone being so patient with me, I hope I can make it worth it!

I don't know. From all appearances, no one has posted in like a week. But it was already down to Nike, Curris, and me, and Curris had to take ten days off for his finals. So I already posted, and we're waiting for either Nike or Curris to post.

It doesn't look like Nike is getting into this (it sucks, but it happens), so that leaves me or Curris.

I say we wait for Curris to find his way back around, and go from there.

Actually, from what Krazi was saying, it sounded like Nike is still interested, but just has a hard time knowing what to do with her character (her being a new player and all) so we can keep her on as an NPC until she jumps in, and maybe just grab a fourth, and say he was there all along?

Normally I would say ROOTless or Gabe, but they've both been pretty quiet recently.

Well, Gabe, like Apoc, is moving house at the moment, and he should get back right about the time I go full-time into the EMT Academy, which means that I'm going to be scarce until I get my feet under me and know what I'm dealing with, and how much bookwork I'll actually have to be doing.

In any case, Nike, you haven't been kicked out of the game. And we all know that drek happens. So don't worry about that. But we'll continue the run once Krazi gets back, and you can just chime in when you have a urge to.

 At least, that's my .02Y.

Technically, this is our planning time, so we don't need him, but once we've decided on something, we have to turn to him to find out if our course of action yeilds any good results.

I'm hoping we get more information than we have right now, before we run in guns blazing to find ourselves in the middle of a mob hit or some sticky business like that.

I figure I'll run most of the Matrix stuff in character. I'm not going to do any major hardcore work here in an unsecure and easily traced 'Trix Cafe. Just a few browses on some cheap public access databases.
