I guess that Dragon-money bail-out didn't last as long as they hoped huh?
(reading)
hmm... looks like they want to fire all their retired people that they promised pension money to.
So: tough love grandpa! you should've worked for a company that cares about it's workers, not one that is legally obligated to keep paying you.
Kuz with lawyers, it's possible to get out of anything on paper!

Watching the Westminster Dog Show, since there's ill in the house and I'm going nowhere this morning, rooting for the schnauzer...

Ah, well, he came in fourth in the working group.  The dobie took the class, that's okay, he's a good looking dog and dobies are sweet.

Yeah, I know, but I find the show kinda fascinating - after all the hounds range from the dachshund to the Irish - so that's what?  A three foot range on leg length and body length...

Don't like the silly mini dogs so much but I like the working dogs like hounds, ratters and herders etc

Sporting group next...

Aren't you thrilled  ;D

I got a Beagle late last year.
She's about 10 months old now, and graduating 'intermediate obedience' next week.  another 10 weeks of advanced, and we'll be starting in on the search & rescue training, which is a preface for her ultimate purpose: Cadaver recovery.
My wife worked with a cadaver dog team as part of her forensic anthropologic training in Florida and enjoyed it, so we thought it would be a nice hobby to get into ourselves.
Beagles aren't big dogs, but I think ours still falls into the 'useful working' category.

And as for cops and doughnuts, we aren't really picky at 4AM on a Sunday morning.  If the doughnut shop is open, we'll eat there.  If all that's open are gas-stations, then it's pre-packaged Twinkies for everyone!!!

Thought the kop stuff would be a 'fun' topic all it's own, and decided to keep the paddin' thread for paddin-stuff.

He's hunkered down in Bug City rather than his regular digs in Chiba. I think he's probably just settling in.

Hey Zone!

I learned a new trick- making an image using text!

I'm rather proud of it, even though it's not that hard.

Hey Ruski, Kid,
I dropped yesterdays salutation because Kid and I were apparently online at the same time, didn't mean to exclude anyone: so Hey Y'all.

Cool trick Kid, looks impressive.

oh, yeah, and ...pad, pad pad...

It's not much. You take an image you want to do it with, you slice it up a few ways to make it monochromatic but still have highlights and shadows, and then you paint with a 'text' paintbrush (this one is binary, I made it myself) over a layer mask of the image, and it shows up like so.

It looks much fancier than it actually is. My next project is to make one with the 'falling matrix numbers' just for fun. :D

The "you must register" portion of the test killed it for me.
(Couldn't get it to work on my phone)
I'm guessing that I'm some sort of fighter-priest though.
Title: Re: in-chat-pad-place
Post by: Zone on August 18, 2012, 04:11:40 PM
don't know what's up with your phone but you don't have to register on the site to take the test, I rarely register anywhere which is why I'm still hanging out here, just skip the optional questions after the test

As for me I wound up and Arcane Trickster - a prestige class, so there  ;)

I ended up with Smart Paladin... which doesn't make sense, because that's not a real class.

So all paladins are dumb? That's what you are saying?!?!!
Spaceballs quote: " evil will always triumph over good, because good is stupid!"
Title: Re: in-chat-pad-place

So, I re-took it; and came up with: "You are a fighter!"
apparently I scored a 89% in combativeness, which was waaaay over on the right side of the bell curve. (*higher than 98% of my peers!)
I fell just above the median for Sneakiness, a squish below the median on intellect, and a little over the median for spirituality.
So: no prestige class for me. I'm just simple violence, personified.

This was their blurb:
"
Quote
Good at hitting things and with a definite violent streak; you are a Fighter!
Fighters are the basic martial combatants in D&D. Their abilities and skills vary wildly between individuals, but they all share one thing in common: a definite preference for violence.
You're either really defensive, have an unhealthy fascination with sharp objects... or you just like hurting people. Either way, you should probably try and keep your cool. Being able to hack someone into pieces maybe a useful skill in most RPGs, but in real life it will just get you into trouble.
"

hmm... just get me into trouble? And here I thought my aggression did a decent job of getting me out of the trouble I find myself in for totally no fault of my own... LOL.

Then again, maybe I'm still keyed up after an especially violent weekend in my 'day job'? Or maybe my employment is an environment that encourages a violent mindset?
... or maybe I'm just more violent than the average computer geek that finds their way to a website about D&D quizzes? by like: a whole lot?

perhaps I should get a sign made? Or a T-shirt? Something along the lines of: "Beware of owner: prone to violent solutions to complex problems."
Title: Re: in-chat-pad-place

Caution:
I solve complex problems violently.
...with violence? ....
Seems like there should be a good way to say that...

I like the slogan:
"Beware of owner:
Prone to violent solutions of complex problems."

It's simple, concise, and witty.

Also, knowing you, I'm surprised that you scored that lowly on Intellect, considering that A) You have a relative that went to MIT at 15, B) A full third of your family are actual card-carrying members of MENSA, and C) You read more than almost anyone I know.

Your current job and related violence notwithstanding, you're still one of the smartest people that I know; and I do know some smart people.

*shrug* I'm old enough and comfortable enough that I don't need to be the smartest person in the room to feel good about myself. And: seeing as how I have spent time in the same room as 'true' genius: i.e. a dude that anc calculate 7 to the seventh power without a calculator   , and without pause... yea: I'm okay being dumb. :-)

I think the major shortfall of those quizes is the desire to appease the ID of everyone that takes the test.
Everyone wants to be special, a prestiege class that is all the things that they personally are good at.
And: not to steriotype, but a lot of internet deziens think their God's gift to intellect. So: my guess, that survey is set to make a lot of wizzards, who never get into fights in real life.
And really: a life of not fighting? That should be admired. Just happens to be a path I can't walk myself.

My friend took it in character, then as ooc, and got two divergent answers (spellsword/cleric) so I thought I'd try that.  As myself I got the Arcane Trickster as I said
Quote
Brilliant and sneaky: You are an Arcane Trickster!
Score! You have a prestige class. A prestige class can only be taken after you've fulfilled certain requirements. This may mean that you're an exceptionally talented person, but it probably doesn't.
Arcane Tricksters combine arcane magic with rogue skills and sensibilities. They use their magic to confuse their opponents or to augment their more mundane, roguish skills. If you thought it was annoying keeping an eye that that rogue, the Arcane Trickster is probably picking your pocket from the other side of the room.
Both smart and sneaky, you're probably the type of person that loves planning practical jokes... either that or knocking over banks.

In character I didn't get me a prestige class and was lower on the Intellect scale and higher on the Combativeness scale:
Quote
Dashing and multi-talented: You are a Bard!
A decent warriors, reasonable spell-caster, and fairly good at tricking people, the Bard is the jack of all trades. These charming fellows live by their wits, though a sharp blade, a few spells, and some lock picks never hurt.
Smart, sneaky, and aggressive, you're probably good at most things you try. You don't have much need for spirituality or superstition and are much more likely to live in the here and now... and if you can get some fun and profit out of the here and now, even better.

Funny thing is I have never actually played either of these character classes

I'm pretty sure those rules are for pesky mere mortals, not Our Lady of Drones.

Also, please no nipple drones, I promise I actually worked on the stained glass thing for like fifteen whole minutes!

Ooooh, nipple drones.  Hadn't thought of that :)

Just had some time and dropped in is all.  Is there a reason the board looks all fracked up?  It's like in safe mode or something, certainly not the skin I gave it.  Anyone else getting this weird grey look? Can't even find most of the controls.

If this is a new default or something I have to vote NO.
