Title: I Hate Spam.

I have decided that Spam is the devil.
my current 'favorite' is the 'sun-trust' bank account, where you hit a link, and it opens up sun trusts website, as well as a popup box that asks you to enter in your account information for verification.
just as nice is the 'we are from south africa, and have an account with 230482034982034.3 billion dollars in it, and would be happy to give you 12% if you give us your account information.'

anyone else have any favorites?

yup. california got a new law going. couple of other states are catching on.

all it will really do is outsource all of the spam companies to sweeden. the aren't going away.

Actually, it comes from an old Monty Python skit... like so much hacker culture.

A guy orders a breakfast from a menu, and then asks the waiter if he can replace one of the objects in the meal with spam... and then he goes through in true-Monty Python style and slowly replaces every object in the meal with spam.

And the waiter is repeating back the order to him each time he makes a change, so he ends up saying "Spam" like fifteen hundred times in the course of the skit.

It gets harder if it's international, but they're working on that.

So is the RICAA... or however that anagram goes. The people trying to prosecute KaZaA, WinMX, Napster, and twelve year old girls. They're all working on the same thing... trying to prosecute local laws internationally.

Of course, we could always hack thier servers and crash them.. .oh, wait, they already tried that with KaZaA and Morpheous.

hmm... low ball estamate typically runs the cost of giveing a neighbor kid $20 to come over and open up your system.

average is typically about $45/hour. depending on how serious the problem is, and how much you need it fixed right this very second.

i charge $75/hour, but i have some certification to back me up, saying that i'm a wonderfull computer repair genious.

high end tops off arround $250/hour, with a minimum 4 hour contract.
