wow, got to see a late show of that last night on the 31, it was so cool. :-X thats all i can say but it was cool,
-
It's out now!?!?
hold on a sec... i need to call in sick to work... from work.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
man you are going to like, even if you dont like the story, it kinda like the crow in the fact of its darkness. the back drop is cool.
-
I'm a fan of Frank Miller's work, so i'm pretty sure that i'll like it.
(the crow,... not so much, too much of a cult following just because brandon lee died in it... i think they would have done better to re-cast him, and actually make the movie instead of just a memorial.)
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
no i mean in the crow and crow ciry of angles, they used the rain and the yellow fog as a back drop.
-
Ahh....
Never watched them.
*shrug*
oh well. i'm still looking forward to this one.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Sin City... I really want to see that movie. It looks entertaining.
-
a little over the top with gratious violence, but i've heard it was good.

Movie Name: Sin City
Starring: Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Clive Owen, Nick Stahl, plus many, many others....
Running Time: 124 minutes
Plot: Set in a rain-swept place called Sin City, this comic book adaptation follows three stories that interconnect. Hartigan is a cop who has sworn to protect stripper Nancy, Marv is a tough guy who meets the girl of his dreams, Goldie, only to see her murdered on that same night; and Dwight fights to protect the Old Towne Girls from violent tough Jackie.
Apoc's Review: Well, this is definitely a movie that I had no hopes, expections, or foresight going into...because I had no idea what it was about except a basic preview from a few weeks ago. I recognize the name from some books but never read it so..once again....still clueless as to what to expect. I have to say that I really enjoyed this movie because it blew me away from anything that I was expecting. I loved the real comic-book feel of the movie and how it pieced together. I felt like I was reading/watching each issue of a comic book line. The big thing was that it was a bit grotesque and I wouldn't have brought my kid to it if I'd known better. Not that she can't take it but that it was a bit extreme kind of like the movie SAW. I didn't let her watch that either. Either way, she fell asleep about halfway through so I know that she forgot about half that she saw because she lost interest. On the other hand, the adults love it except for my wife for two main points...grotesqueness and that she feel the Pulp-Fiction type of connecting stories has been done enough. I think that she makes valid points but I still enjoyed it. I plan to buy it if I can talk her into letting me when it comes out. About the only thing that I can't comment on is the replay value....Anyway, I recommend to see it if you can...you just might enjoy it.
Favorite or Shocking line/scene: (NOTE: as with all mine..I give a description as close as I can.)
Naked Girl in room with Mickey Rourke: He likes to eat their bodies but he leaves the heads.
Mickey Rourke: Calm down and here is a jacket to keep you warm.
Girl: He likes to eat their flesh and right down to the bones.
Mickey: Here....take it easy.
Girl: I know because he sucked the meat and flesh off the bones in my hand while I watched.
Stub of an arm comes out with stitches....AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

Sounds freakin' sweet. I have to see that as soon as possible.
-
Heard good things, and i've heard bad things about this one.
tad bit extreme if you are squemish on that sorta thing.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Nope, I liked Kill Bill a lot. And you can't get any more squeamish than when she squashes that eyeball with her foot. :D
-
Like when Bruce Willis tears the [0.2MP DELETED BY SYSOP] off of that big yellow [0.6 MP DELETED BY SYSOP] with his bear hand?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
LOL..that was pretty good...I felt the whole audience quench in agony at the same time.
-
Wait a minute, the SysOp's corrections there made Ruski's statement unclear... was that a Sin City spoiler?
Ruski, IM it to me. rofl~
-
no, I think you got it...
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
No, I really don't know how to fill in the blanks there. Oh, well. I'll just chalk it up as yet another of life's unplumbable mysteries.
-
how about this:
Blank #1 = 'Wang'
Blank #2 = 'bad guy'
-RuskiFace the Pirate
and yes. it SHOWS it.
-
...Interesting. Now I REALLY have to see that.
-
I liked the part with Elijah Woods still smiling through his "eating scene" or being eaten scene...eerie was the sense I got and thensome...(insert another Apoc shudder here)
-
yea... not for the squemish...
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
I HATE squeamish people. We'd have the coolest movies today if it weren't for them. ;)
But then, I visit Ogrish.com regularly, so I have built up an immunity to grossness. It's all a state of being, after all. Sometimes you get injured, or ripped open, and sometimes you die, maybe even horribly... it's a tragedy; learn to deal with it.
-
well, in a theatre full of people, if it's at that movie, you are with friends then.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
True enough.
(LOOK! 1111 posts! WOW!) :D :hyper:
-
that's a lot of posts. Congrats!
-RuskiFace the Pirate
(I stoped counting after I was over a thousand posts over the next highest... i wonder if i'm better than the top two combined now?)
-
You are. I checked yesterday. I think I'm number 12 now, having passed up Zone and NeoPaladin (which is just wrong, and I still know my place as a paeon, however I AM plotting to have you both killed).
-
LOL free time at work is a terrible terrible thing.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
I was wrong, Gabe still has almost 6,000 posts, you still have a ways to go before you surpass #2 and #3.
And i just passed Poison's post count. #11 now.
Luna... you're next!
-
well, perhaps i can break 10K then...
-RuskiFace the Pirate
(now THAT would be SIN)
-
I wonder if the counter goes past 9,999?
I'm sure it does. Not too far to go, Ruski. By Christmas at the lateset.
-
nah. probibly closer to late augest, early september.
i type a whole lot.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
After careful calculations based on date registered/ number of posts, the highest average posts per day come to:
RUSKI: 26.6
PIP-BOY: 27.3
I'm sure I'll drop off a tad in a month or so, though. Ruski's kept his up there for ten months (since re-registering).
Oh, and Ruski has now been registered for a total of 297 days, while i have been registered for 42.
-
Keep in mind that at least one person's post count was reset to zero.
-
they did nuke some of my posts, but it wasn't much. couple hundred. like 5 or 600 tops. not enough to even count at this point.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
That too, but I was referring more to Apoc's voluntary reset.
-
Yes, I am aware of the resets, and of APOC's mysterious status. Dragons don't count.
I can't work with data I don't have. Besides, I doubt APOC has anywhere near the "average posts per day" level that Ruski does, but that's merely a guess.
-
Then it shows that you weren't around before...I was the leader for a while ;D Not to brag but I was proud there for a while...first smilie, first to 3000 then 5000, then I had the problem with a certain Pubber...*cough..G***...cough*...long story (a lot of emails and complaining from the Pubber on stupid issues) but that was the reason why...we had problems and I got fed up with arguing and listening to the mess, etc. I'm too easy going to be involved with arguements, etc. It took the fun out of the Pub :-[ and also part of my disappearance for a time.
Well, that's said and hopefully solves the mystery a bit. :'(
-
That's OK, I was just whipping up a quick analysis of some data on a whim. You have so many posts you had to reset your counter!
So, you're like God. He's bigger than everyone, but we still can't see him.
Not that I BELIEVE in God, per se, at least not as traditional church dogma would define him... just a metaphor. :-X
-
well, if you look at it from a theoretical standpoint, a dragon has ultimate power to destory you, or assist you, and either solution wouldn't make much of a diffrence in it's own life...
so, by most traditional standards; a dragon could be classified as a god.
*shrug* just a thought.
So, is that why we haven't seen 'G' arround recently Apoc?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Just about the only d20 book I have left that I use regularly for other game systems is the Draconomicon. I recommend it, it's a very nice resource.
-
Hmmm... perhaps you could have a Sin City zone in your fallout RPG...
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Really? Which one?
-
*shrug* dunno... it's a lot like new reno though..
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
I think that's why the TV blurbs appeal to me. Also, it's very... stylized and dark, and there's that undertone of superhuman abilities and loads of sick, sick violence.
"What're we gonna do tonight, Brain?"
"The same thing we do every night, Pinky... try to install Windows XP."
-
LOL
that's a good line.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
I always knock 'em dead.
LOL, that reminds me of the crappy comedian guy in New Reno in Fallout 2:
"So yeah, what's up with those radscorpions?"
"I mean, I don't see anything rad about them...."
-
LOL
there are many cool tidbits like that in there...
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
In an effort to bring you only the highest-quality Fallout moments, I loaded up a Fallout 2 savegame of mine (one on which I had beaten the game already) and headed to New Reno to hear the special joke that the comedian tells only after you have won the game.
We (The Chosen One, Sulik the Tribal, Marcus the Super Mutant, Skynet the Brain Bot, Cassidy the Desert Ranger, and Vic the Fat, Cowardly Dumbass) set out from the middle of the wasteland in the Higheayman, headed for New Reno.
Alas, along the way we were waylaid by eight "Claim Jumpers". I told them we didn't have any claim to jump, but they wouldn't listen and attacked anyway. Keep in mind that we have here four humans wearing Power Armor, a scary Super Mutant, and a crazy-looking robot. They were wearing leather jackets. This is equivalent to attacking a grizzly bear with a Nerf (TM) bat.
Anyway, Marcus mowed down four, I toasted three, and Brain Bot and Cassidy took out one each. Vic ran away like a fat coward and got no kills, and Sulik also got no kills. "Wait, that adds up to nine kills! I thought there were eight claim jumpers!" you might say. Well, unfortunately, Marcus also managed to mow Sulik down with the Bozar. Alas, poor Sulik, I knew thee not well.
After peeing on Sulik and taking all his porn, we set off again, and drove into New Reno in style. We walked into the Desperado to pay a visit to the comedian -- who, incidentally, is the only person left alive in that place. Some asshole player character came in and slaughtered everyone else.
Here is the joke:
"Heh-heh. You heard about the tribal who defeated the Enclave?"
"He was so stupid, he uhh... blew up the oil rig."
"BOOM!"
"Did I mention he was stupid?"
Said tribal (me, the Chosen One) then walked right up to ol' Comedian Bob and filled him full of Acme Grade-A 4.7mm Caseless. NO ONE talks about Pimp-Boy like that.
A job well done! Exit Game.
-
LOL
so, did you blow up the oil rig?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Nah, because I left before him so I think his diasppearance is from moving and work.
-
LOL
so, did you blow up the oil rig?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
Yeah, it's part of the endgame sequence. Fallout always ends with a nuke going off. It's like a rule.
-
LOL there are nukes left? I thought we used them all to desolate the planet?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Well, there was one at the end of Fallout 1. Thing is, you don't HAVE to see or touch it to defeat the Master. Defeating the Master starts the nuke's countdown.
-
Yup. I remember that.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Also, with a high enough Science skill, I believe you can just arm the nuke, and not even worry about the Master. But who wants to miss that cool talking head?
-
LOL actually I did that once, but I saved my game first.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Topic people.
-
there's a lot of sin in that city.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
LMAO.
Yep. Sinful, sinful, sinful.
I hear they cut someone's pecker off. Ow.
-
no. not cut.
TEAR / RIP
with their bare hands.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
(But it's yellow... so it's okay!)
-
oooooh that sounds painful
ill have to go see that movie
-
there is something not quite right about that...
I'm glad i'm not her boyfriend. LOL
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Just saw it, and all I can say is ...
Damn, what a great flick! I'll be watching it a few more times in the next few days, that's for sure.
-
there is something not quite right about that...
I'm glad i'm not her boyfriend. LOL
-RuskiFace the Pirate
awwwwwww didnt mean it likt that
besides he says he kinda likes it the way it is :P ::) ;D
-
well, if the way it is, happens to be in a jar on the mantel... and that works for him... or... 'it', as the case may be... then, more power to him, er; it.
Eunics can have fun too!
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Eunuchs can't have the BEST fun, though.
I'm sorry, penis-in-the-vagina action is still the most entertaining.
Aside from Fallout. ROFL
-
well, they can still get so drunk that they forget that they are eunics...
-RuskiFace the NOT eunic
-
ROFL
silly pirate
-
Yes. Yes I am.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
"Silly pirate! Dicks are for...."
Ahhh... better not to poke fun at pirates, I always say.
-
LOL well, it's a good way to keep all your stuff.
also, if you are nice to pirates, you could end up with all of your stuff, plus some stuff that use to belong to other people!
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
OKay, once again from the Frank Miller fanboy. (me)
As far as gratitous violence and sexual imagery and suggestion go, it's about 40 stories over the top. Hell, one of the villans gets his penis removed- twice.
But when it comes to strong women, pulp-noir gritty feel, awesome visuals and just... an incredible sense of style, this movie is top-notch. I don't expect it to win any awards, but I loved watching it.
(even though violence and overly-sexual movies usually aren't my thang)
Personally, I identified with Marc, Dwight, and Hartigan at different parts of the movie- these are guys doing the best with what they're given- a rough life, a few past bad decisions, and they go out and do the right thing- avenging those they love, defending those who need it, and bringing down the greatest threats to those who we feel responsible.
Honestly, even though I had a friend compare me to Marv, I identified the most with Dwight. Especially when I went back over the comic books, and found out that Dwight had his life ruined by a woman. :/
"Sex makes you stupid, Dwight."
All in all, for style, story, and outright ballsy-ness, I give this film five out of five bobs.
-KV
:bob::bob::bob::bob::bob:
-
well, i'll have to watch it one of thease days when i have nothing better to do then.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
just seen it and ummm well its different love bruce willis in it and elijah wood hes been my newest fav actor since lord of the rings and troy good god almighty hes a hot one lol but the movie was not too good to me but it was different :-\
-
what didn't you like about it?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
well first of all it was black and white but that was cool in away cuz of the tint lol it was just long i guess and i fell asleep i liked the violence it was just too long and i love the story book type :o
-
The director was trying to make the movie look like Miller's graphic novels. I think they did a very good job on it, it really felt like a comic book. On the other hand KV is right, it will not win any awards (well on a long shot maybe cinematography), and the only people who will really appreciate it is Miller fans and comic book enthusiasts. I liked it, a little gorry/gritty but I liked it ;)
-
i havent seen it all i still cant make it past where the dude with the glasses shot his perole officer :(
-
why, your dad a parole officer?
-RuskIFace the Pirate
-
na he was a cop 8)
-
aren't some cops parole officers?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
dunno never had one...i know they have to have some training though cuz they have to be tough but as far as cops go i dunno :-\
-
to Me the storys were to choppy the the connections between storys almost nonexsitant the plots were poor and perdictable
-
and dont forget longggggggggggggggggggg 8)
-
well, lenght only matters if the movie sucks.
Lord of the Rings taught us that.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
i loved lord of the rings what do you mean by that lmao :(
-
If a long movie sucks then it's a long movie.
If a long movie is awsome (like LotR), then it's an awesome movie and not long.
-
that's how i scanned it.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
ahhh ok and sin city sucked lmao...and if it really sucks then any length is too long Mercy says lmao ::)
-
Saw this the other night. Technically brilliant, but the acting was inconsistent. F'rinstance most of the women I'm sorry to say were lame and the only really good perfomances came from Clive Owen and Mickey Roarke. Plus the story had no bright spots and very little humor. It was so poundingly grim, bloody and hopeless I kept thinking now I'll turn it off. But since Hunny was watching it like it was a train wreck I just went and got chips instead.
I think I'll have to register a thoughtful no vote here. It wasn't really a movie I could get behind.
-
Yeah, but you have to love Mr. Frodo and a canabalistic, murderous, psychopath. The role he was born to play.
