So, what would you like to be able to do with a computer? what is the ultimate goal?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Oh. Well... mostly, just the stuff we were already talking about; I need to go ahead and try to get those Telnet progs and stuff you recommended and actually do something... but I've been busier than normal this week....
Is there anything else you can tell me about um, pilfering bandwidth? You already told me some things, but what else should I know? For example, how can I not get caught? ;) Or ways to pilfer software that are better than BitTorrent?
-
Bittorrent isn't a bad way to get software. mostly though, beyond 'the best way to do it', you have to go where it's at, even if it's a method you wouldn't pick as your first choice.
for a fun slide of events, we could work on 'free upgrades' to your own internet connection... what do you use to get online now? perhaps we can steal some bandwidth out of your own box?

Uh... Cox? Uh... yeah, that's it.
-
do you know where your outside cable hub is?
(typically it's in a green dome thing somewhere in your yard, or the yard of one of your neighbors...)
do you get unscrambled channels?
do you have $10 to spend at radio shack?

-
Er... let me get back to you on that, I need to do some reconnaisance.
-
Okay. lemme know how it goes.

My ultimate goal is to Join the FBI by remotely placing my resume on the desktop of its head. ;D

With or without his signature on it? ;)

LOL well, that was my goal at one point too... but I kinda got over it. they'd just stick me in a box and tell me to go hack some random country, or throw me in jail (they would have all my contact information) I doubt very much that it would work anything like in the movies.
plus, i've looked into it. his desk is on a 'secret' network. it's not connected to the outside world in any way. so, you'd have to pull some B&E to even get onto the network (past the best physical security this country can afford) or somehow get someone on the inside to hook up a router to the outside world, and for that brief instant before all hell broke loose and they shut down the network, find exactly where his computer is, over-ride it's individual security, on top of the network security, and copy the resume over durring that time.
as a side note, the best way i can figure to gain access is to get someone to plug a USB wireless nic into one of the computers anywhere on the secret network, and hope they don't notice as you hack from accrost the street.
(better be one of the computers in the front though, the back is in a sheilded area)

This class sucks! I want my money back! ;)

So, what else do you want to know how to do?
-
I want to know how to "flood" or cause "denial of service" to a certain website.
-
Or to steal an admin password from said site.
-
Okay. that takes a little more effort.
first off you'll need to gain controll of many computers.
like... a thousand or so.
you can do that by spreading a backdoor virus through a school network, or a mass e-mail that says 'free money! click here!'
from there, you force all thoes comptuers to 'ping' a specific domain at the same time.
computers are very fast, but with a thousand systems each sending a thousand requests every minute, it compounds quite quickly, and then the service can't respond to anything. (it dosn't know what to ignore, and what to respond to)
if you can keep thoes thousand systems up and running, you'll probibly be able to deny service for about a week or so before they block the domain it's coming from.
if you have it on a widely spreading virus, then they'll be fighting with it for years to come, and probibly end up having to change their domain name.
there are a variety of packages you can put it into.
http://astalavista.box.sk/
you mostly have to write your own code for it though. most virus software already protects aghinst the currently mass-email applications you could get access to easliy.
(although with only a little programing knowhow, you could edit them enough to make them your own)

Rats, that sounds hard.
I suppose it would have to be, otherwise the internet would be a mess.
-
it's not that hard, and the internet is pretty messy...

Take control of 1,000 PCs? I could get locked up for that... don't know how to cover my tracks.
-
*shrug* fake ID and walk into a local colledge library.
and it's pretty much impossible to cover your tracks with that. every one of thoes thousand PC's is sending a map to you to thoes servers you are trying to crash.
their server log would be screaming your name.
best bet... make it someone elese's computers sending the pings.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
... that way it leads back, but not to you.
-
LOL well, that was my goal at one point too...
I know. I remembered.
Paladin

*grin* it was a good idea too, but after looking into it, the risk dosn't quite add up to the posibility of reward.
and I don't want to be famous in jail. LOL

I'm more into recreational hacking. So, my question is, how can I remotely access my own computer through telnet? I know my IP address, and that's as far as I am.
(Most of the hacking-related things that I have learned are old command line- techniques, and telnet controls. . . Which is okay, since I find them fun and refreshing.)
-
Well, if you want to hack a computer with Telnet, that computer has to have it's telnet services turned on.
*shrug*
so, start up your hosting service, pick a port to listen to, and then go to thepiratebay.org and say how your IP.IP.IP.IP:port is unhackable, and watch as every virus in creation is uploaded to your hard-drive.
