Played as a Sorcerer the other day.

It's tough to raton out my spellpoints. and going toe-to-hoe with monsters dosn't work very well at all.

mostly, Toe-to-Hoe combat, is like Toe-to-Toe combat, except that in the latter, we are assuming that you are fighting fellow humans, and the former is more of a derogatory slant on your oponents.
