hahahaha... nothing says "Target me!" like dropping a fireball in the middle of your opponents. ;D

I've found that painting a red and white bull's-eye on your t-shirt/Armor vest actually helps to fend off bullets. . .

Ya know, reverse psychology and all that. . .

"Shoot that man!"

"No, wait! That's what he wants you to do!"

Nega mages were NOT canon. What you're thinking of is a NERPS. Either the Shadowrun Supplemental or Plastic Warriors or one of those other ones. I can say for a FACT that Year of the Comet and Magic in the Shadows do not have nega-mages in them.

I can go look for it, but the rules for those are Second edition. They also had rules for bringing dead people back to life and channeling dead spirits (which is possible with the Channeling metamagic listed in Target Awakened Lands I believe)

Responding to ROOTless' comment on 1st ed. mage's. Keep in mind, that 1st edition had the Target # vs. drain equals Force + Modifier and not F/2. A force 3 powerbolt and a Force 6 were hugely different leaps in the amount of drain between first edition and second.

God, it was AWFUL in first edition.
I mean T# of 9 to resist deadly drain from a Fireball? Gah!

I remember having the paydata for Nega-Mages on the pub years back.  I got it from that short-lived Shadowrun magazine aptly named 'Shadowland' and liked it so much I hosted the info (with appropriate authors names and references).  They were indeed rules for 2nd Ed. IIRC.  Neat, but not kewl enough for me to ever use in a game.
