That's why I hate build point systems.

I prefer BeCKS.

You know, where's the fun of building the most 'efficient' character?

Yeah... I would be very afraid of anyone who made a full page on how to min-max a character. ;D I really hope it was a HTML class project or something... but I don't think it was.

I just found my copy (couldn't get an original) of the first edition rules.

Still got mine sitting on the shelf. Hardcopy, very, very worn.

Well, I for one still favor Ars Magica in the 3rd edition (there are currently 5), though it's adimittedly largely identical to the 2nd (and the rules differences aren't always to the benefit of 3rd).
It's the same with L5R RPG (I have the first edition, there are currently 3 I think), and would be the same with AD&D 2nd edition/D20, if I still could be moved to play anything level based.

And of course I still prefer the old World of Darkness to the new one...

Despite being off topic, I have to say that Paranoia 3rd edition is best out of 5, Warhammer 1st is better than the new one, IMHO, and I too prefer 2nd AD&D. Weapon speeds is a great concept. . .

Agreed. Oh, and who prefers D20 Starwars RPG over the West End Games version?

I remember playing Star Wars, the old old one with my friend. Didn't like how the rules made being on the Dark Side "evil"

I only played WEG Star Wars a couple months before the switch to D20, but I did miss rolling massive fistfuls of dice.

I still have the first 11 dice I got for the game: two five-packs of Yatzee dice, and a matching red one a friend gave me for the Wild die.

yeah i have that, printed it out even
gave me a headache
the reading, not the printing

the west end games system for swg was kinda weird
the wild die thing screwed more than a few times

the thing about SR is, its always been a BP system, really
they just changed how it worked
not saying its better or worse, just saying, its pretty much the same idea

oh and i have copies of all 4 editions :)
hardback for the first and 4th
friend of mine had 2nd edition with the dragon skin cover on it but never got him to part with it
I never got to play 3rd unfortunately for various reason and things goin on in RL
havent had the chance to play 4th yet
ive been re-readin all the old novels and sourcebooks, well the ones i have. I need to pick up the rest
