L5R???

Legend of the Five Rings.
Decent enough (though perhaps not entirely well balanced) RPG/CCG/???, based in Rokugan which is a fantasy world ripped off of medival china/feudal japan.

Funny you should mention it J, since I started up a campaign in L5R just yesterday. (Pre-coup, probably not gonna use all of the metaplot.)

Nice enough game mechanics, actually.

As with most things I thought that Dragonlance over stayed its welcome - I remember reading the original trilogy and liking it fine but most of the sequals that I read (one or two and now there are scads) sucked epic.  No one can evr leave well enough alone if there's a dime to made otherwise - forget quality its mechandising that counts.

Of the dragonlance books, any were questionable. Of the books (including the new generation... which I will reserve comment on), my favorites were:

Dragons of Autumn Twilight
Dragons of Winter Night
Dragons of Spring Dawning

Time of the Twins
War of the Twins
Test of the Twins

Dragons of Summer Flame (hey, I liked Tasslehoff's death... he stabbed God in the toe)

Legend of Huma
Weasel's Luck (not really connected to the rest of the series, so far as I know, I just liked it)

And that be all. I've since read most of the second generation, and almost all of the legend books, but trust me, these are the best ones. And if you really loved the first three, I wouldn't reccommend reading Dragons of Summer Flame. They kill some good characters and bring others back.

Well the book stores around here really suck with that. If I wanted 1/4 of the book's value, I would just use it as kindling the next few times I go camping and save my money that way.

Actually, they give you 1/2 the value, but you only get 1/2 of THAT in cash, the rest is store credit. Oh, and you only get $1.00 for ANY hard back book. So those expensive Wheel of Time novels are no longer woth $25.00. Talk about a rip off.

huh.  no wonder I don't get rid of books...although that could also be because I never know which ones I'll want to reread later.

If your hardcovers are first editions they can be worth quite a bit, especially if they are in good shape and by a popular author.  Book collectors go all gooey over a 'clean' first edition.

As for the paperbacks - always go for the swap, not the cash. You won't get rich but you'll get something new to read.

Well, the platce I'm talking about, youdon't get to swap the books out. They are priced at 1/2 cover, and you only get 1/4 cover with 1/2 of that as credit, so you HAVE to spend money no matter what you do. Oh, and the hardcovers are still 1/2 price, even though you only got 1 buck for them.
