Yeah, it's only a matter of time...

I hear M$ is working on a neural interface chip too.

Really? I had heard about the procedure some months back where they implanted a series of gear in a woman's brain and she was able to manipulate an arm from across the room. I figured that would be the direction cybernetics/prosthetics took in the real world. I think it will be a LONG time until we have SR-quality parts, but I do think it will eventually happen.

They've been doing that with rats for years I belive. This just means they've finally gotten permission to work on human subjects.

I'm sure you're right about that ROOTless. But can you imagine where this will be going?? This is big enough to actuall be proto-rigging. Just think about a signal boot and some well-built waldos. I see the much sought-after Japaanese Mecha Army getting built in the next 50 years.

Well sure. But what happens if you walk under those BIG power lines with a pace-maker? There's always a bit of uncertainty about technological overlap. And with EVERYTHING bein wireless now, well that might be an issue. Just imagine what would happen in your example if the person were, well, how can I put this delicately? What would happen if they were "shaking hands with the bishop" and they had a signal interuption??? OUCH! :o
