Uhhh... that might be good. Maybe. The Wachowski brothers are directing, but I remember some of the asinine plots from the show. So I'm not holding my breath.

I might see it, if the reviews seem positive. If only as a homage to my childhood.

Sadly, when I was young, I never knew that I was watching the same show everyday.

Scooby Doo blindsided me on some idle Tuesday, and I realized that my childhood was over, and animated television was a sham that had eaten my life.

But that aside, I would watch it just to see how different/similiar it is to the series.

I would love to see something new, awesome, and revolutionary happen, but I could still laugh even if nothing did.

Emile Hursch (from the Girl Next Door) is playing Speed Racer.

I think John Goodman is the dad... I don't remember anyone else. Maybe I should IMDB this...
Ooh! and Susan Sarandon!

Oh, and the kid who played Simon Tam as a kid in one of the episodes of Firefly. In an unspecified role.

Also, the entire thing is going to be shot in front of a greenscreen in germany.

Yeah, I'll be honest, I was never a big speed racer fan. Too much "haha" at the end of every line so that the sound matched up with the japanese lines, at least for length.

"We will haha- come and get in the car- haha!"

Hahahah... what? Why not? As far as I can tell, it's a perfect adaptation of the cartoon!

Ahh, so wierded out! Chistina Ricci is/was a pseudo-crush of mine when I was young. But casting her as Trixie is . . . awkward to me. . .

Furthermore, in that interview, I realize that she has grown up and out of that dark gothy mode. . . Strange. She seems like a milder Lucy Lawless now. . .

I have really been out of the TV and movie loop, apparently. . .

But on topic, the casting for the live Speed Racer seems appropriate.

I just wonder what the plot will be like. (I have not yet watched the trailer)
It's not like following the original plot leaves room for expansion. . .

It was a perfect adaptation of the cartoon...and that's when I realized I was never able to actually sit down and watch the whole thing.  LOL

See, that's the problem I see with adapting Speed Racer into a live-action movie. Especially the way Emile Hirsch describes the "vision."

What he said (I'm paraphrasing here) was "high technology" with "sorta Andy Warhol Art." And the entire thing is going to be filmed in front of a green screen, so...
