Spiderman 3-First Review From Japan
« on: May 01, 2007, 05:28:10 AM »

Hey Chummers,

I had to let you know that I saw Spiderman 3. Since I live in Japan, it was released first in Tokyo, Japan (May 1st) than the rest of the world. Yeah me!

I just have to say that it rocked. The story is not exactly the same as the comic books but still good. You will definitely enjoy it.

VENOM ROCKS!
*Also, notice the French Waiter--it's one of our heroes.*
(You'll see after you watch)

*Stan Lee makes a brief cameo as well.*

I give it 4 out 5 bobs: :bob::bob::bob::bob:

awesome! I can't wait to go see this. I'll be waiting about a week after it comes out to avoid the lines. And Stan makes a brief cameo in all the marvel movies :)

Trust me, you didn't miss much with Pathfinder. The choreographyh, camera work, and editing are so bad that it is one of those movies you have to watch a couple of times before you're really able to guess what's going on in the fight scenes. Which is to say, most of the movie.

As for Spidderman- tre awesome. I really liked it, but I don't know that people will like it as much as the second one. It has more story to it, and although Venom is awesome, he doesn't do anything until like halfway through the movie.

The dance when he was walking down the street. I wasw so cracked up when I saw it that I couldn't stop laughing either time (I got in to see it the night before it came out here, and then Elena dragged me back out again opening night to see it again)

I also cracked up over the fact that evil spiderman is emo. ;D

Yeah, the dance was pretty funny. I liked it as well. The entire theater was laughing and that's unusual for Japanese. ;D

i watched it last night. I really liked the movie. The problem I had was Toby McGuire's acting seemed lacking to me. The whole dancing around stuff was kinda funny but wierd at the same time. The action was great and the CG was amazing. Venom defiantly looked badass. Not as good as the first 2 films but worth going to see. 3 out of 5 bobs.

Yeah, I've been suprised with the number of people who haven't liked it.

It did feel a little rushed- which is what happens when your producer, Marvel says "Are you kidding me? Sandman? No one cares about Sandman- Venom is the favorite- and you should include Gwen Stacy for some reason!"

((Spoilers below))

I thought at its core, it was one good movie and one bad movie, but even the bad movie has funny things about it (like the dance, or emo-Spiderman) and I didn't even have a problem with Harry's weirdness. He's always been a little weird, and they built up three movies about his revenge thing, but it was cool to see him forget about that and remember that he and Parker were best friends growing up.

I think the problems with Spiderman 3 come with yeilding to the demands of the market. Avi Arad (former head of Marvel, producer on the films) told Sam Raimi to include Venom. The quote I remember reading is "You've made two movies the way you want them- the fans want Venom- he's the most popular character," and Arad sent Raimi thousands of emails from fans, asking/begging/cajoling for Venom to be a main character, not a side character.

If Raimi had gotten what he wanted, the Black Spiderman/Venom suit would have been set up in this movie, and payed off in the next one. Which would have led to the traditional darker ending, rather than the one that they had here.

I still liked it- but I understand why people didn't.

I heard there is a 4th one coming out?  Is that purely speculation?

I just read an article which said that there will be at least three more movies.  Whether or not Sam Raimi or any of the original actors will be attached is unknown.
