The 1980s, shall I compare thee to a summer day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate! Rough winds to shake the darling buds of The 1990s, and the 2000s sun is oh so much a blaze.

(Just kidding... I couldn't remember the rest of the sonnet)

I have a lot of fond memories about the 80s.

Let me guess, blowing up rainbow bright dolls with firecrackers? Having your G.I. Joe's capter and interogate Barbi and Ken? Or just beating up all the boys with your hot-pink swatch watch??? :P

Oh, parachute pants, ere we knew thee.

Of course, I was always the 'rebel,' which meant that I tried to take part in the skater revolution. It was highly commercialized by the time it reached the white suburbs, so I had a "Rat Fink" skateboard and brand new kneepads with corporate logos all over them.

Ahhh... innocence.

Heh. How sad is it that's after my time? Chuck Taylor all-stars were the skate shoes of choice, and for everyone else, it was British Knights. Ooh, that was a long time ago.

Well All-Star Converse we're always hot. But in the late 70's early 80's it was more of punk thing.  In the 90's they were adopted into the "skater" crowd.  Around the same time Airwalks, Vans, and DC Shoes were trying to make a name for themselves.  Then again this could be more of a personal opinion then fact, but I remember being about five sportin some fresh All-Stars  ;D

Since the second one made me LOL I won't smite your arse for assuming I ever had a pink swatch.  Mine was, however short lived since I had a real watch with a picture of Mr Peabody on it.  I wish I could ebay that sucker today *sigh*

Memories to our youth!  I remember having a bright green matchbox car.  I took it everywhere with me for years, it was by far my favorite toy... then one day it disappeared.  I was crushed, the other cars just didn't compare.  But the greatest thing happened, I found the first edition Shadowrun book while looking for it.  Thus I was thrusted into the this world at a very young age.  To this day my mom still won't admit to throwing that car away, but that look in her eye tells me otherwise.  :'(

You're lucky.  Try being a girl in the prebpubescent game geek world.  Everyone was too scared of me to include me.  I played maybe 3 or 4 times (D&D) in HS and never got another game until I was in grad school - the line from my first day with the Geek Boys that will live in lore forever:

Me: Wow, I'm the only girl here.

Him: You're the only girl these guys have ever seen.

the group of friends I play games with now has included three girls- the GMs girlfriend, who got to do whatever she wanted (which was mostly to text message instead of paying anything resembling attention to the game) the renfaire girl (who was used to being the only girl the guys had ever seen, and tried to walk all over us, a group of guys who had just put up with the GMs girlfriend for years-- that did not go well for her. I was the first one to kill her character, but I wasn't the last)

And now my fiance is part of the group- although most of the guys consider her 'one of the guys' so they swear and tell dirty jokes like she's not there. I figure you're the type of gamer girl like my fiance, Zone, one who actually fits into the group, rather than expecting something for deigning to grace us with your presence.

Well we have a little slack for our two, I mean c'mon wouldn't you? But for real, they are extremely intelligent (I mean they hang out with geeks and nerds).  Most of the time they point out something we overlook and always can find a way to lower that TN ( :'( Oh it's hard to say goodbye to 3rdie, I will miss thee). So we'll see, I gave them a copy of the Quick Start Rules and Food Fight 4.0 so they are suppose to come by over the weekend to create some characters! I'm so excited!  :o
