Me: Wow, I'm the only girl here.

Him: You're the only girl these guys have ever seen.

LOL! That about sums up most girls' first games. That and trying to pretend the guys in the group aren't storing up images of her in thier personal spank banks.

I figure you're the type of gamer girl like my fiance, Zone, one who actually fits into the group, rather than expecting something for deigning to grace us with your presence.

Thank you, darlin' I'd like to think so.  Although I must admit; the first time I met Hunny, he was running a game but fudged the damage I took on a headshot.  He liked me and didn't want me dead yet. The rest, as they say, is history  ;)  I'll also add I've had my character seduce other PCs once or twice over the years just to mess with da guyz.

That's sweet. Nothing says "I love you" like fudging damage so your favorite character doesn't die. ;D

I was lucky- in the group I joined, they had been playing with a girl for a year or so (an ex-fiance of one of my good friends... I'm not really sure why she stayed and kept playing after they broke things off, but they did), and she wasn't even the worse female player in the group.
One of the guys insisted on playing women with, uhhh... unrealistic proportions and super-high charismas all the time. I'm not really sure why- I only ever played a game where the guy was there once, but it was enough for me. Within ten minutes of getting there, I had already mentally slapped him with the metagamer nametag.

Ah, the GM's dilemma- when you bring your girlfriend (fiance, wife, or whatever) to games, and you accidently kill her character, do you go through with it, or soften the blow so that she escapes?

I, unfortunately, don't have a low enough opinion of myself to be able to hold my fiance's characters ransom for sex.

Actually, that had to be a sweet thing when you found out about it. I mean come on, what guy wouldn't cut a cute gamer girl a break when he's trying to make a good impression?

I never did. My fiance read Zone's comment over my shoulder and then punched me with a "You jerk- you never fudged the rules so I could get away with something!"

Of course, I've seen what happens when people started fudging rules for significant others. They suck, and then the die horribly. Sometimes the games, too. I've even seen one game where we abused the fact that the GM wouldn't kill his girlfriend's character, and sent her (the blind mage) in to scout out dangerous terrain. He hated it when we would do that.

Yeah... it actually worked pretty good for a couple of runs, and then the girl came back, played her character differently than she had before, screwed up what we were trying to do, and then got captured by the enemy. So... she got away without a scratch, and two of the people in our group died.

Moral of the story? Better to abandon ship before it sinks than to hold on as long as possible.

Well, Kid, if it makes you feel any better, it was just a Cyberpunk intro game.  Kind of like speed dating; the gamers union (the first incarnation of da guyz) were offering quick 30-60 minute runs to showcase different RPGs.  It was my first CP game, and it was what Hunny was into at the time and so was one of the guest GMs.  I also played Pendragon, and Rifts that night.  Or rather didn't play Rifts. its way too cumbersome a system for speed gaming, but learned enough to know it was never going to be a favorite.
