Shining force was one of the first Tatical RPGs out on consoles, the main character is a knight in training in a fantasy world, after his home kingdom is attacked by monsters he and a bunch of others are sent out as a small strike force to try and take out the leader of the army that attacked them. this leads onto a huge story and an excellent game with a TON of sequals, but to my memory only one other tactical game. Good series
