no, I haven't seen this yet. I do know it's a remake of an old John Wayne movie. I've heard good things about it.

Is it me, or is there something inherently wrong about remaking John Wayne movies?

I'll probably catch this one on video, I've seen the original often enough.  One of my buds has a little Duke shrine over his TV, I've seen a lot of his films....

I grew up watching John Wayne movies- my Dad would stay up late with me (when I was sick), and we would watch old westerns, Sci-fi, and all sorts of stuff. Oddly enough, I had never seen True Grit before I went with my wife.

It was awesome- the actors did an incredible job, including the little girl, and Matt Damon was hilarious.

Definitely worth seeing, even if you are waiting for DVD.
