Just finished watching the Opening Ceremonies. Way cool. They had skaters with fire coming out the backs of their helmets.
-
I really can't say thim I'm interested in the olympics
-
The olympics have started?
How nice.
-
I heard they suspended a bunch of cross-country skiers, and banned a... skeleton skater(? I don't even know what that is...)
-kv
-
Skeleton's like the luge, except they go head first instead of feet first.
-
them's peoples is crazy
-
And this is new to you?
-
lol, no. I just said they were crazy. I like to state the obvious sometimes ;)
-
Sometimes? ;D
Just kidding Jester- we love ya.
-kv
-
Last count, Norway's leading the medal count with 7. U.S., Russia, Italy and Netherlands are all next in line with 3 each.
-
did they have snowboarding yet?
-
You know, I really wish they wtill had the Olympics every 4 years together instead of this staggered drek. I LIKED having Olympic Years when it was much more of an event. Now with the Winter and SUmmer games on a staggered 2 year ofset, well I just don't get as excited. That having been said, I caught some of the down hill skiing last night, and one guy damn near wiped out on a jump, just to recover at the last second and finish in 3rd place (at the time I watched). It was pretty damn cool.

I know they've done the men's halfpipe. I was at a friend's birthday, but I recorded it. I'll probably watch it later.
-
didn't france steal the gold from sweeden in the downhill skiing?
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
I think so. Actually, I think an American, Bode Miller, was the favorite.
-
Yeah, but he fragged up. That's one of four people I saw ski. ;D
Gabriel
-
oh well. if it was easy, it wouldn't be so impressive when they pulled it off perfectly.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Exactly that.
Gabriel
-
just found out yesterday that sean white the flying tomato won :)
-
Well, the American women took the gold and the silver last night. They would have taken the bronze too, except one of the girls tripped on her final landing. And it was the best run, up until she fell over, of the entire competition. Oh well, in the immortal words of Meat Loaf, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Well, if the US doesn't get it, I like seeing Norway win. (I think they're leading anyway.)
-
Yeah for those of us with thin viking blood! Go our country of distant origin!
;D

Jeg snakker lit norsk. (I speak a little Norwegian...at least I think I spelled it right. ;))
-
Men det er da glimrende!
OK, så er det ikke Norsk jeg taler, men dansk, men det er da muligt at du vil kunne forstå noget af det, bare lidt.
-
ah, rootless. Never stops suprising me
-
Now what?
-
Well, I could pick out some of the individual words and figure out/remember a few others, but I took it as my language course for college. It's been about 4 1/2, 5 years.

babblefish is much easyer.
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
Babelfish doesn't do Norweigan, does it? I just checked, although I could have missed it.
-kv
-
*shrug* there's otherones out there that'll translate it... although i was pretty sure bablefish could do it...
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
babblefish? that a translater?
-
Jester has never seen (or read) Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. :::shaking head::: Oh Jester. I'm so sorry. :'(
Gabriel
-
I got the nice hardcover Ultimate Guide for Christmas.
-
That's all five books of the triology, right???
Gabriel
-
I believe so. I don't have it with me, though. I'm at school, it's at home.
-
I haven't read those books since high school. I may have to dust them off and give them another read, just for the hell of it.
Gabriel
-
I felt like they kinda petered-off toward the end... like Adams was tired of writing them. I especially didn't like the ending. (Dent dies and the universe unravels, because the Vogons, of all people, want it to?)
I prefer to end with the death of Marvin the paranoid android (after reading God's last message to all of creation), or the book after that one.
The last book left a bad taste in my mouth.
-kv
-
The message was 'So Long and Thanks for All the Fish'
Liked the song, too
-
You know, that was a good song. I wonder if there is a soundtrack for that movie???
Gabriel
-
Yeah, I stopped at Walmart and picked it up on my way home from the theater.
-
was the soundtrack any good???
Gabriel
-
Yes, it was. They even pulled in the theme from the old BBC miniseries.
-
ooohhhh! I wasn't even thinking about that. Yes, I've read and seen both
-
Not to get off topic here, but was anyone else a bit pissed that they cut the entire refutation of God out of the movie when the Babylfish was brought up?? I know they included it as an extra on the DVD, but it was a really pussy move on the part of the film company. Damn pansies! :gabe:
Gabriel
-
like anyone who watched that movie would care if god was proven to not exsist... he did leave that message to Marvin.
made him chuckle.
LOL
-RuskiFace the Pirate
-
lol, gabe you get mad at the smallest things sometimes
-
Actually I was pretty sure the company would cave to wht they assumed would be a Christian balckalsh. I didn't think they would have the balls to show that scene, and all it does is reinforce my opinion about religion in general and people's inability to stand up for themselves when faced with the shadow of Political Incorrectness.
Gabriel
-
maybe... ;)
-
Well, apparently the Brits didn't have that problem because it was included in the old miniseries.
-
amreicans have a problem with everything they find offensive and don't even give the people a chance to make up their own minds
-
Welcome to that age of Politicaly Correct Cowards. Yee-haw....
Gabriel
-
good way of putting it
-
ANYWAY... Have the Austrians been disqualified for all the doping yet???
Gabriel
-
haven't heard anything
-
Well, the Austrian ski team got busted by the Olympic security cobbers. Turns out they had a duffle bag full of used needles and a caoch sleeping on a cot in the basment who had been banned by the Olyimpic Commitee and bared from the country for doping his athletes. Personally, I'd love to see these guys taken out of the competition for good. If they sitting there doping their athletes, they deserve the embarasment and scandle.
Gabriel
-
wow, didn't hear anything about that
