Title: Pursuit of Happyness
Post by: kv on December 21, 2006, 11:50:47 AM
Hey, everyone, I just saw this last night with my girlfriend...

I really liked it. I think we've all had at least one time in our lives when we needed a little extra help, and this story just exemplifies that. It's inspirational- I don't think I've ever seen Will Smith excersize his acting chops like this before, and by the end of the movie, you're excited for him as he begins to succeed.

It's an amazing movie. Has anyone else seen it? Any different thoughts?

I haven't seen it yet. In fact, if it doesn't have goo dspecial effects, I usually wait for a movie to come out on DVD before I see it. I'm only willing to pay $10.00 a ticket for eye candy. :P

Not all movies worth seeing are eye candy. Some have worthwhile stories.

Oh I totally agree with that. But I want to see big special effects on a big screen. For story and content, I prefer my own living room.

It's so you can get all teared up and cry, isn't it? You learned your lesson from watching Titanic in theaters, didn't you?

We're all friends here, Gabe. You don't have to lie to us.

It's okay that the tragedy of Jack and Rose's love brought you to tears.

*Hands Gabe a tissue*  It's okay just let it out...want a twinkie?

I'm serious. I've never seen the movie. And see, I figured the ship would make it in the end what with the Phantom being on board and all. But if he couldn't save the day, then I guess it was just doomed from the start.

Gabriel

PS - But I WILL take that Twinkie.

So how exactly is everyone's stock of twinkies?!  Oh wait is this the right thread...ROOTless you haven't seen Titanic!  What is this world coming to...you weren't part of the multimillion nuyen opening weekend?!

You could feel okay, about it, I guess. I do.

I've actually never seen Titanic either. I didn't have a girlfriend at the time, so my friends who got dragged to see it (many times) and said that there WERE manly parts (apparently some dude and a propeller), I just laughed in thier faces.

After I eventually had a girlfriend again, she wanted me to see it, and I refused. I see it as girly emotion-porn. It's the story about a woman who feels so out of place, and the man who isn't her type, but makes her feel loved, and helps her see the world in a completely new way. *shudder*

Girly emotion-porn. It's about the feelings.

You can smite me- I've got extra karma.

Alright think of Titanic as an ancient Shadowrun movie.  Basically Jack could be a runner who just didn't make it.  He was tryin to steal the diamond, and he got to slap some skins in the process.  He just didn't make it all the way to cash out.  Okay wait, no that movie is nothing like shadowrun, what am I thinking.  Tryin to phylisophical or somedrek...alright I'm done with this.

Speaking of Karma can I get mine transfered from my other name I don't use anymore?! Or is it lost in the metaplanes forever?!

Nobody laugh at me please, but I have a question...... I was noticing that there is a place on my name that mentions Karma. Outta curiuosity how do you gain Karma?
Title: Re:Pursuit of Happyness
Post by: Gabriel on February 15, 2007, 04:59:49 AM
Like that. Once you reach a certain amount of posts, 500 I think, you are granted the power to give and take Karma from other members. It's really nothing more than a way to reward or punish someone for posts they have posted in the past and things they have done. For instance, if someone makes a very good point in a discussion thread, I might give them a point of Karma for it. On the other hand, if someone gets torqued off that Ruski is making "Gabriel's Mother" jokes again, I might take a point away.

When this system first started, we had two columns, one for positive karma and one for negative karma. It was possible to have say 25 points of negative karma and 10 points of positive karma, thus giving you an overall score of -15 karma. Now it is just the one column which can still be negative. Ingo Monk (our sysop) can post the actual historical karma log for your profile (say +35, -82) but only does it upon request.

For quite a while I was the Negative Karma King. But, alas, no more. I did, however, have the destinction of being the MOST karmic person on the board for a bit. It's nice to know you can make an impact. ;)
