Title: Harry Potter 5 in Tokyo
Post by: Jester on May 22, 2007, 04:59:35 AM
hey apoc, just like spiderman, Harry Potter 5 is going to premier in Tokyo. It will be on June 28th. So you have the mission to go see it and tell us what you think :)

They're just premiering there because it's the first high-tech civilized country across the international date line (sorry Aussie, I love you). It's yet another way of increasing thier box office grosses for thier one-day and three-day totals, and making movies look more successful than they really are.

I gladly accept the mission and will let you know the spoils afterwards. I'm moving soon so it should be good reward.

Oh yeah, in case I haven't mentioned (I know that I haven't), but I bought a place and move in two weeks. Another reason why I have been busy. I'll make more of an official post in a week or so.

Hey Jester,

I was curious where you heard about the release of Harry Potter. I've been looking around but it seems the release date is July 20/21. I can buy early tickets but no movie until July. Let me know where you heard and I can check it out.

The release might be the premiere release for movie stars, etc. The whole red carpet deal...you know what I mean right?

It was WAY, WAY too short of a movie. It was like the Reader's Digest condensed Harry Potter movie. I really hope they have an extended version on DVD. Other than that, it was pretty good. The fight scene in the Minestry of Magic was a let-down, but oh well.

PS - I prefered Transformers!!!!!

I thought it was good. It held the emotion of being sad and lonely. Overall, I liked it but I agree with Gabe. It was a bit quick but it's hard to fit a whole book into 2 hours.

I think they needed to add about 20 minutes to the whole thing. A bit more at the department of mysteries and a little more "fluff" with Luna. And GHOST DAMMIT!!! I wanted to see Luna's HAT!!!!!

I heard that the script actually cut Luna out almost completely- (Rowling said in an interview that she convinced the director and producers to add one character that was cut back into the movie- it was either Neville or Luna, I'm thinking) so the little they did have her was in there.

I liked the family tree on Black's wall.

yea, they left a whole lotta stuff out on this one. Out of all of them, this one disaponted me the most. Now that said it doesn't mean I didn't like it. The fight at the end was pretty cool but I thought Sirius's death was kinda lame how they did it. And I also agree with Gabe that Transformers was WAAAAY better. And where was Luna's hat?

Sirius' death was lame in the book too.

I finished the last book, now too.  Want to know the body count?  ;D

Actually, I thought the last book was really satisfying.

And I'll agree, Sirius' death felt more like plot device than it did an actual occurence. But it did set up the last couple of books to be a lot more darker and death-filled.

I pirated the audiobook for Deathly Hallows, and listened to it over the course of three days. It was 21+ hours long, so I had to break it up a bit. Anyway, I truely liked this book, especially the ending. I had my doubts about Rowling being able to do anything like write a satisfying conclusion, but I was certainly mistaken. Gotta love nice surprised like that.
