Hey All,
I know that Gibson is the grandfather of Shadowrun (a bastard child he refuses to acknowledge, I've heard), but I only this weekend ever picked up Neuromancer and read through it.
First, I have to say- WOW. Man, did they rip names directly from the pages! Also, I was surprised to see the term 'Microsoft' coined in the middle of the book- I was not expecting that at all.
But from the 'Nightwraiths,' to the Z-O, to Wintermute... and the obvious parallel between Dodger/Megara and Case/Wintermute, not to mention that Winter-mute/night, the attempt to destroy the matrix... I can't decide if it was a "Sorry about stealing your ideas, Gibson," or "One last time, Baby, it'll be good like before, I promise!"
Anyway, once the chock of how much was directly culled from the pages wore off, I started thinking about the ideas in the book itself. Has anyone else read it? Did anyone like or dislike it intently?
