I'm aware that there are hocky teams in the south, the New Orleans Jazz come to mind. The point I was trying to make was that with the climate being what it is down here, no one can actually PLAY hocky unless you go to a hocky rink, and those are fairly sparse down here, although they do exist. The average kid up north can go outside for more than half the year and get a game going with his chummers. Down here, you have to make a real effort to do it, and as such, the average kid never plays it. So as a social interest, it's pretty understated.
