Well, I can understand that not many cops or bomb unit guys tay up and watch "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" - hell, I consider myself way too intelligent to waste brain cells on that show.

Actually, I'd be suprised if anyone on these boards watched that show... you all seem far too intelligent.

They aim for a much... lower caliber... of entertainees.

Would you know exactly what it meant if someone left a bunch of wires and circuit boards on the roadside on your morning commute?

I wouldn't- and I would be a little nervous with a pissed-off thing giving me the finger. And someone would call the police, and the police have to treat every bomb threat as a possible bomb, so they would come in and detonate it, and that would take hours... just like it did.

I think there was a great deal of stupidity on all sides on this one, and I said as much to my friend who got all pissed that they arrested the guys who planned the whole thing (guerrilla marketers... and I'm pretty sure I spelled guerilla wrong. That time too), and charged them with felony bomb hoax charges.

I doubt the charges will stick, but these guys will get thier 15 minutes of fame, and Adult Swim will be getting all this free publicity.

Well, call me naive if you want to, but if I see a little electric sign with some batteries on the back, I would think it was, and I know this is a stretch of the imaginations here, I would think it was A SIGN. I mean seriously, it looks like a walk/don't walk sign with an attitude. And they were in place for three weeks before anyone got nervous. Three weeks before some moron said, "Oh sh**! Look at that sign! It's been giving me the fingure for three weeks! It must be a bomb!"

Now as much as I normally see your side of things on here, Kid_Vid, I cna't see this one. Too many people acted too stupidly for me to see it any other way. Too many people have been programmed by George "It's got to be terrortists" Bush into letting their fears override common sense for me to feel anything but disgust for these people.

No, it caused all the hububb and distress the very first morning it was out there.

I mean, Turner Broadcasting didn't even know that it had already started until they started hearing bomb reports- and then they started telling Federal Authorities that they were behind it, and that it wasn't a bomb, it was a guerrilla marketing campaign.

People are just hearing about it now.

Acording to a news report, police in Ney York City found several of them and removed them 3 weeks ago. People in other cities saw them around the same time and didn't raise any kind of fuss. It seems that just the Bostonians we this paranoid.

I gotta go with stupidity on all sides, and while the part that lit doesnt at all look like a bomb (enless they managed to make them really flat now) The battery pack looks like about the right size for some sort of explosive.

Again, stupidity on all sides. Turner for hiring people like that, the people for doing something like that, and most others for freaking going "OMG!!! Itza bomb!!!"

what really gets me is people saying how it is being said about how  bad it is they put these up in "sensative areas". generally areas with a high traffic of people. Seems like the right kind of place to put an advertisement to me, less you want them to be put up in some place like the sewers, which would be interisting to see most of the bill boards and such they throttle people with moved down there.

Something else that gets me, is that they were in plain site!!!.  I  don't know about you, but I'd make sure a bomb was well hidden until it goes off.  ;)

But doesn't a bomb in a high-traffic area make sense? Bombs could be hidden, but they're more effective if they affect a large number of people.
