Jewish law traditionally traces family through the mother because there's never much doubt about a body's mother - can't always say that about the dad.

Most North American tribal peoples are also maternal lineage thinkers.  Kid, wasn't there something in Morman thought  that that spoke of the first nations as a lost tribe of Isreal or am I mixing my idealogies again?

X-Men, actually.  One of the characters is Jewish and I remember a fanfic where she mentions something about the maternal lineage.

Anyway, the mormon take on the 'lost tribes' is that they wandered up through babylon and whatever and got lost in europe (or maybe asia) which after centuries of breeding, gives all of us a little jewish blood in us, whether we like it or not.

At least, that's my understanding. It might be different in the official doctrine.

"first nations" = what Canadians call North American Indians.  Makes a whole lot more sense than the US lame PC tag since there are no natives humans to these shores if you go back to the beginning.  All humans migrated here one way or another, just as the horse and the camel went the other direction.  Their fossils are here, humans are not.

In that case, totally yes.

We believe that the first nations (american indians) included jewish descendants. In fact, the Book of Mormon, what people think we use instead of the bible, is written by ancestors of the american indians- pre mayan and aztech civilizations that believed in Christianity.

Yeah, it's a companion piece to the Bible, the writings of anchient jewish prophets, and they talk about a lot of the same things- Jesus, charity, taxes, wars, good people, bad people, and all of that.

Only while the Bible has been translated umpteen times, and not always by guys who had the purest of intentions, it was translated by a prophet.

God + Prophet > Scholars * Monks
