hahahaha... actually, if my calculations are correct, he's at serious +3 stun dammage... one box from deadly.  All I gotta do is land one more punch... and to do that, I only have to live through one more round...

Well, the more that drop, the fewer attacks you gotta worry about dodging.

Developed that philosophy playing KotOR.

And it's not a bad one, especially in games that don't take wound penalties into account.

Unlike SR.

It's also a lot easier to just set the character to attack and just keep an eye on the hp.  Especially since I'm not very good at fast-paced, real-time combat.  In KotOR, I generally set it to pause everytime I use the menu or switch targets during combat so I actually have time to find the item/attack option/Force power I want to use.

In real life, I have better reactions.  I've always been decent at sports (Liked too many of them to get really good at any one, though) but I can't seem to get the little people on the screen to do what I want them to, and I lose interest too quickly to get better.

*shrug* well, having good reactions from sports dosn't really help in combat situations. being in a generally good shape dosn't hurt... but really, it's not so much being able to react, as knowing how to react.

same thing with video games. you want to duck. you see the punch coming, you see a low punch, and want to counter with a high kick... or whatever.

training and repatition is really the only good way to get any level of skill with either. take a martial arts cource to train your meat body to react to someone coming at you with a punch. being in good shape will let you recover from actually being hit...  but if you just freeze up and think "OMG i'm about to be hit!" when you first realise the punch is coming... then it's going to land on your face before you realise that you should be moving instead.

Well, I am currently taking martial arts, and really, there are skills I learned in non-combat sports that do help.

For example, in tennis, I liked to rush the net.  You learn really quick to either block the ball back into the other side of the court...or dodge.  The body motions are different, but you still learn timing and how to avoid getting hit.

Then there's the footwork.  Stances change between 'normal' sports and martial arts, but you still need good balance and to be able to move any direction almost instantly.

I agree. they do over lap quite a bit, but without the martial-arts training, I think it would just be frustrating to be in a fight.

Fighting tip: People who are fat and out of shape don't like heavy body blows. At all.

Yeah, but if you pay attention to the way their body is shaped, they can't defend their lower body as well as someone who's limber.

mostly, people of any size don't like getting hit or kicked.

*shrug*

and if I was going to fight a fat guy, I wouldn't be hitting him where he had lots of padding.

You'd think, but that "padding" isn't exactly nice for him. Assuming that it's not muscle, that fat becomes a widespread pressure that inhibits your opponent's stamina. You're much more likely to knock the wind out of a fat person than a healthy one, most especially since all that fat isn't doing anything for them except weigh them down.
