me too... so he already had the orchalium on his person when they were attacked? Once he got put out of the way, tehy started killing his family, and he escaped,but they all gots killed, because they didn';t know where it was?

hmm... nah, i don't think it would be something that he would carry arround with him all the time...

the ancients could have killed his family for it, while he was guarding... and he was just the first one to fall,... then when the rest of their magic group showed up, the ancients took off, and he was the only one to survive with overflow... could even give him a cool scar for it... the remainder of their group gave him to the organ doner that owed them a favor, and he got patched up that way, got his current job,... and went back later to get the secret stash of orcalcium...  perhaps we could even give him a cyber eye or something,... to replace the meat where he got shot...

Ooh... I like that... the cyber eye, anyway.

Maybe his entire family got wiped out, and the "others" who showed up were just a friendly gang? Someone his family had dealings with?

Rival squatters? I think you give people living in abandoned tenements way too much credit.

I think maybe just a local greedy talismonger. Someone with enough cred to spend on something like that, but not enough to buy thier own orchalium.

So "Johhny Stars-Rainbow" hired the anchients to wipe out this family of squatters who have some orchalium, and then return the orchalium to him.

The other gang shows up mid-raid, and saves the one guy who knew where the orcahlium was hidden, but doesn't know that he knows that.

He gets the stick from everyone, then has to make it on his own. Starts by making up the debt to the organ legger who stiched him up?
