I liked him alright.
he didn't stay on topic much, and he loved fallout.
made a couple of the regulars turn tail and run for the hills.
eventually KV started cleaning up the off-topic threads, and that made him mad so he left.
that's actually why I started this 10K post thread when I was about 800 posts away. I lost a chunk of my count when it got deleted LOL

Yes. That one.

I didn't mind him so much, and I was willing to go along with Ruski's live-and-let-live philosophy until I actually started reading all of his posts, which I started doing once my good friends started running for the hills.

I wasn't annoyed by the Fallout obsession, or the constant badmouthing of anything he was against, be it political, economic, or philisophical. No, okay, I lie. It was that second one. It was "Religion: The Flamewar" and other topics of the like.

Mostly what was annoyed me was when I came across a post that said "Nobody is posting that they disagree, so I am forced to conclude that they all agree with me!" (or something along those lines)

...people like that, you just can't argue with.  Whatever you say as refutation, they take as a personal attack, and when you ignore them they assume they're right *Shakes head* I've run into people like that in other forums.

That's the thing that was sort of mystifying. To me, at least, he didn't seem unintelligent. He was even on occaison eloquent... and he had spent time learning chinese, so he was at least slightly intelligent.

He just... rubbed pretty much everyone the wrong way. In no small way because he was constantly in salesman mode, trying to let us know what a great system we were missing out on because we didn't play tons of Steve Jackson games or H.E.R.O.

I don't know... it's kind of hard to explain, so it's good that you've had similar experiences, so we don't really have to.
