mostly, it's time.

sculpting isn't that hard... just takes a bit of effort to clear away the parts that don't belong, so the peaces in your hand match the picture in your head.

and of course, like everything else, there are tricks of the trade to make something work better,... but mostly... it just takes time to learn them.

I took a ceramics class in high school.  Unfortunately, it also flooded that year.  The art room was in the basement, so I only have two pieces that actually survived, both of which are Star Wars-related.

Mine probably wouldn't work unless it was for a wall...both pieces were reliefs.  Although a friend of mine did give me a little dragon/gargoyle she made in that class.

Its basically just a neck/torso and head and stands probably 3-4 inches.

When I told her I still have it, she was a little embarassed cause she didn't think it was one of her better pieces. *Shrugs* I still like it, though.  It's cute.

Actually, there is.  I live less then a mile fromt the edge of town.  Lots of farmland in the region.
