Damn straight, Jester! And what's wrong with a gay super hero? Northstar is gay. So are the Midnighter and Apollo from the Authority.

Of course, I really think this is going to be Captain America going underground. You just can't kill Captain America.

Well, you could, but it would just mean that Marvel hires drekky writers... oh.. wait.

Anyway, Northstar was created to be a little 'different'- he's french canadian, after all! If that wasn't a huge sign that he likes boys, I don't know what is.

lol, anyway. I heard what happens is omeone snipes him from somewhere. Don't remember the guys name. Cap gets hit in the shoulder. Some chick who always hangs around with him, again don't remember names, was brainwashed to put 3 rounds into him if he ever got shot. So now she's the scapegoat.

Did they ever actually say why they were killing him off?

I haven't heard any explanation of it, but I don know that my local comic shop sold their last two copies for $50.00 a piece. Apparently, marvel released a staement saying all of the copies were sold ouot completely, thus driving prices through the roof. People snatched these up as fast as the "Death of Superman" a decade or so back. Then, and I have to love this, Marvel realeases ANOTHER staement saying that they were mistaken and that they only shipped about 60% of their stock, and they would ship the rest this week. I'm on the list to get one of those. I'll fill you all in when I read it.

Actually, that is pretty slick- that shows that someone in the marketing depatrment has a firm grasp of the ideas of supply and demand, and knows that any good marketing campaign is only as good as the price of the comic.

Yeah, I heard something along the lines that 'there was nowhere for him to go' because some people wanted him on a streetcorner with a sign protesting, and some people wanted him in Iraq punching Sadam Hussein. So I had to ask myself- Do they let these guys watch the news? Doesn't he know that Hussein has been dead for a couple months now?

And Captain America standing on a streetcorner protesting? Who do they think reads these comics?

I honestly think it's a marketing push to sell comics. Because right now, DC is kicking thier ASSES.

Then there is the irony, of course, of Captain America dying when his trademark sigil is the round shield that is both his defensive gear and weapon. I mean, recently, he has been all about nonlethal takedowns so police can take suspects into custody and whatever. His only gear, a shield. He iconizes defense and safety, and yet, there you go, he dies.

But then again, comic books are all for the money or story exclusively; logic rarely factors.
