The Brand New Awakened World

This is the start of the SR4 PBP thread- I'm not doing anything extensive, but I am bored enough to try to run a game like this at least once.

I did this same thing with Ruski and some friends in real life, so I'm expecting that we'll run a few short scenarios and figure out the rules to try something more extensive.

I have a character in building. I just have to assign knowledge skills and it will be ready to go.

Character built, but NOT sent, as I'm detailing his history. I like this guy.

Okay, is anyone else going to join us on this little venture? You can download a program for it for free, and you already know most of the rules (being Shadowrun fans), so if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

And Tiger offered to send (via MSN Messenger) the pdf to anyone who really needs it.

There's a program for it? I wrote mine up by hand.

And actually, I was just getting near the point of wondering how hard it would be to program my own CharacterGenerator. . .

Lucky for me someone saved me the trouble (Sorta)

Where is this program?

You can get a 3rd edition character program here: http://matrix.dumpshock.com/mcmackie/nsrcg.zip  I am unaware of a 4th edition one available at this time, but I'm sure somebody is working on it.  You asked how difficult it would be, the answer not terribly difficult.  Although it would be incredibly time consuming, being you would have multiple sourcebooks worth of information to input.  Not to mention a million IF/THEN to put.  But again, that part isn't very difficult.  For time consideration, I'd recommend using the one already completed.

I've got several versions of the third edition one. (Back when it was being updated. . . hehehe)
 
My guess is FanPro has the 4th Edition one, but won't give it for free.

Download either of those two generators. They'll actually do most of the walking you through it, and the "NO, you can't do that" stuff is built in. (As a side note, RED[/b] Is the bad color)

Once you have it kinda figured out, make yourself a character. Histories are just like before, only now instead of decks and cell phones, everyone carries "Comms," which does everything from turning your car alarm off to muting the TV so it's not distracting while you make out with someone, and also carries your personal information and everything.

Hackers (no longer deckers in 4th edition), have or program routines to screw with other people's comms.

In addition to comms, the matris is now wireless, and so anyone who has cyberwear programmed to recieve matrix feeds can see the "AR World" where reality is augmented by Matrix Billboards, signs, and the credit ratings of the people around you.

So download and try those character generators. Neither one prints on anything resembling a decent character sheet, but once you have your 400 points spent, you can just figure out how to type it into some sort of format on here, and we'll get started.

Also, I am advertising that I will help someone make a character, if they give me their concept or any specific details. . .  Such as preferred Race. wanted skills, focused stats? Magic or no magic? and etc.
