A few people had mentioned that they had an interest in Shadowrun, but hadn't gotten the chance to invest in Shadowrun Returns over on Kickstarter.

Lucky for you, there are always new opportunities for those people looking for them; one of the partners of Shadowrun.com has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their game as well (after a gentlemen's agreement with the boys and girls at Hare Brained Schemes not to post the campaign at the same time as the SR:R campaign).

Shadowrun Online got funded!

As of right now (7:37am, PST) they're sitting at $505,238

Which means that Shadowrun Online will eventually be a game, and I'd be happy to run around with any of your chummers.

Sorry about being a rusty gate about this one, the idea of playing Shadowrun with my peeps online really appeals to me, and since I've tried it before with paying monthly and it was very expensive for a sometimes-happening (Ruski and I both bought Star Wars Old Republic, paid for three months of subscription, and got to play together a total of four times), this system really appeals to me.

Anyway, I'll shut up about kickstarter stuff in the future, I'm just excited I got to be a part of this (and SR:R).

So we team Pub chummers met over a mug a beer and got it in our heads we could be runners?  If the magic system isn't overly complicated I will do a shaman a mighty dark goddess shaman moohahahahaha!!!!!

Isn't this based on the 4th Edition universe (2070+)?

Yeah, Shadowrun Online uses the current date/time (2072, if I'm remembering correctly), and the game will be available both as a campaign book (hard copy and pdf), and as the game itself. The company will also be coordinating with Catalyst to see the events from the MMO affect the game timeline- so if runners the world over manage to take apart Horizon or ARES, that will be reflected in the storyline of the game universe, going forward.

There are also supposed to be tie-ins between SR:R and SR:O, so it will be really interesting to see what happens in the next year or so.

Oh and missions are going to start being based on runs that players do.  Actually to be honest this game reminds me a lot of Neverwinter Nights 2 where you could recruit multiple henchmen.  Way I understand it is you are a runner but you don't run alone you collect other runners to go with you on the runs.  You control their actions but except for your runner I don't think you create the other runners they are NPC's.  However don't think that just because you have a decker a mage and a street samurai that they are going to be exactly like my decker, mage and street samurai.  Also apparently they are adding the aspect of legwork into the game so you aren't just going to run up to a fixer go run me and off you go blowing holes in an Ares facility.  No you are going to have to do recon gather info and perhaps even find where the facility is located.  So the game is going to incorporate a lot of the rules (and maybe advanced rules) of SR4A.  I can't wait.

ok, im a little confused, and thats bad since i did a 60 pledge on returns.. But i thought returns was suppose to be an online game..?  did i misread some type, or did things get changed up or what?

Could be a little from column A, a little from column B.

Originally, Shadowrun: Returns was supposed to be an online server that let you play with your friends. It got pared down to a single-player campaign that will have a rich development, and user-created content, so you'll be able to play your friend's missions, and they'll be able to play yours. Just not together, unless you do a voip session (I recommend Ventrillo) and play at the same time.

I like the idea of Shadowrun Online because it will allow me to play (for free... mostly) with my brothers and friends.
