okay. so, i can do an ork. now, what's his bag? how does he fit into orc/troll society? is he just an errand boy, going to pick up foci for his more astrally talented brothers? do they make him program the VCR? does he like that? does he have a car? bike? in a gang? school?

that might work... but it's still too buddy buddy for my tastes... i want him to be a little more outcast from his family... perhaps he does have to guard their meat,... but he's got nothing to do, board out of his mind. he can't look at them astrally... dosn't have the willpower to sit and do pushups for the ten hours and get a body of 45
hmm... perhaps he works on his bike... but no VCR... his family is strict-anti-tech... what with how it clowds the spirit and all...

Okay, so his family is anti-tech. And he stays to guard them while they're in shamani trances? There would be kids around, little ones too young to start down that path, though...

 Where are we talking? Ork Underground? Teepees on the edge of Salish Sidhe? a burnt-out tenement building that his family lives in that's downwind from the Renracu powerplant outside Redmond?

I prefer a more modern setting. let's go for the slums. only, with all of the maji, it'll be a nicer part, seeing as how astral guards do a lot to clean a place up.

So the southern end of Bellvue... before it gets into the bad parts of FT Lewis, but waaaaaay after it's rich? (Even from shadowrunning?)

Who are we looking at as secondary influences? Gangs? Anyone we can name? A specific person running the area? The ORK underground?

well, they are Orc... so the Orc underground is a good one. the gang would probibly mostly leave alone thoes astrally active enough to defend themselves... but perhaps we could swing a tragity, the aincents broke in while he was guarding and geeked some meat perhaps?

That would work. Make him a little more outcast than even before. They don't want to leave him to guard the bodies, because they don't trust him..

Or maybe they do understand that there was a whole gang of Anchients, and only one of him, but one of the shamans holds a grudge... the Chief's son's girlfriend got geeked while she was out of her meat?

He is left to guard the bodies of several of his freinds and family while they were on an astral quest. Because of the nature of the quest, getting dirt on a spirit to use against the Ancients, they were in a part of the Underground somewhat isolate from the rest. Our hero, da' orc, and his best chummer, let's call him Bob, are all set up for a long night of guard duty, with Bob switching places with da orc just after everyone drops out. Unfortunately, someone has dirt on Bob and he has been told to leave a particular passage unguarded, hence the reason he switches places with da' orc. Some Ancients head in through the unguarded tunnel and get the drop on da' orc. they manage to geek half the mages and take Bob out on general principles. Da' orc is wounded, but not horribly so, before the Ancients toss a grenade and head back out. When the dust clears, the surviving mages only know that the Ancients got through the tunnle da' orc was supposed to be guarding and managed to take most of them out. Since Bob is dead, they only have da' orc's word to take for it, but they don't really trust him anymore, and most of them consider him a traitor.
