i was thinking allong the lines of: they track the decker to the chip den useing their certified credstick, they ruff up the chip den, and get the name of the delivery boy that picked up the bodies, they ruff up our hero, and make him track down where the headware memory went to, he tracks that down, it was sold to some gang members, he has to talk / fight / whatever the guy with the headware to come in so he can check it for whatever, and it's been wiped clean. he goes to the station they used to re-format it, and gets a backup copy of the original only to find that there was some PDF files with comic books on there, and that's it. from there, he has to contact his burned out contacts that don't like him, to put him in touch with a decker, who tracks down the guys phone records, and finds out that he calls this bank every week. so he has to go break into the bank and get the dead man's drop box (with only a couple days left before it's dropped off to the media or whatever)
then, after he pulls that off, he can deliver it to the people, and the'll let him live / give back his boss, or whatever.
