Use the newly-screwed Called Shots rule and shoot for the unarmored parts (like eyes), totally bypassing any armor.

or use your aries squirt to just douse a target, and who cares what type of armor it is... as long as it's not a chemsuit... if it is... let your buddy shoot him first.

or, if you have a kitten, you can throw it at him, and he'll never be able to hit it with it's armor class of 45, and it'll scratch little tears into the chemsuit, and then you can hit it with the aries squirt.

Another thing that has made me wonder - how can an Armoured Jacket, which is limited in the amount of armour it can have due to the bulk of the clothing and trying to keep it somewhat concealed, have a higher armour rating than a Riot Shield?  I mean, seriously!  ???

I dunno. I was just using a figure. There are numerous helmets in Shadowrun with varying armor ratings.

As to the Jacket/Riot Shield ... that is an example of the abstract system. The shield, while big, is not as easily maneuverable, and covers less total area than the jacket. It is also made for melee, whereas the jacket is useful for both melee and gunfire.

I dunno about it covering less area... the large shields are supposed to cover from neck to knee, IIRC.

True, but the jacket covers the back, front, and arms. Stretch the material out and you'll find more protective surface.

You know, now that the padding thread is actually ABOUT padding, it is the perfect time to fulfill my life-long dream of derailing the thread about nothing!

Careful, Apoc will lock the thread!  :P

If Apoc ever locked THIS thread, I would go to Japan and kick the drek out of him myself. And that's saying a lot for a puffball like me.

Oh, and as for the kitten thing: shooting an kitten with a 45/65 armor rating just turns it into a soft, cuddly, pissed-off, nasty, evil projectile as the kinetic energy from the round is transfered to the kitten and sends it sailing through the air. Personally, I can think of better uses for a kitten than an un-aimed projectile.

What?

An Aimed projectile instead? I can't remember but I'm sure I've seen a film where a guy has a gun he shoots mice out of.

So, what kind of special ammo would one of those use?? Would you have a thumb-tack taped to the mouse's head to make it armor-piercing? Maybe give him a lobotimy to make him a hollow-point??? OOOO! You could superglue a match to his head to make him an incindiary round! Damn, I need to get me one of those guns. :gabe:

Actually, I have used kittens, well cats, to hit my runners with. It's always nice to put in critters that the player will not want to kill, thus handicapping that player's character. Hehehehe...
