Yep, I've got a copy of that one. It's pretty good, although my favortie thus far is Night Watch.

Nope. Night Watch as in the book by Terry Pratchett. It's the sixth (I think) book about the nightwatch in the Discworld series.

I've never read Prachett, but since it had the same name, I thought it might have been possible that it was based off the book of the same name.

I think you would really like the Discworld. If you want to start a good one, try "Guards! Guards!"

The discworld book arganize themselvs into several subseries and few 'independants', based on main character(-s).

The Witches (Equal rights, Wyrd Sisters, Witches abroad, lords and ladies, maskerade, carpe jugulem, Granny also features in the Tiffany series).

The Guards (Guards! Guards!, Men at Arms, Feet of Clay, Jingo, Fifth Elephant, Night Watch, Thud! , the guards, especially vimes, are also featureds in several other books, even if only briefly)

Death & Family (Mort, Reaperman, Soul Music, Hogfather)

Rincewind (Colour of Magic, Light Fantastic, Sourcery, Eric, Interesting Times,  The Last Continentl, The Last Hero, Science of Discwolrd I-III)

Several characters from various books make their appearances in other books, or even get a book of their own.
Each book is basically selfcontained (some of them refer to earlier books in the same series, but usually not so that they can't be read out of order), but referances some of the others, making the whole thing more coherent, clearly taking place in the same world.

They are generally quite an enjoyable read.

WARNING: Colour of Magic, Light Fantastic and Equal Rights feel to me as if he was still trying to find his leg with these.

Also consider visiting L-space.

That was the first book in the Night Watch subseries. The first book I read by him was actually Men at Arms, which was the second Night Watch book. I loved it, and started looking into his writing. When I realized I have missed the intro to those characters, I went back and read Guards! Guards!

And ROOTless is right, about his early three books. Light Fantastic, his first book, is really kind of crappy, but it does introduce Rincewind, who I still think was Pratchett's favorite character for a long time. If you want to pick up one of his "indepindent" titles, you can try Pyramids, Thief of Time, Moving Pictures (although this one was not one of his best), The Truth, or Going Postal.

I cannot read Salvatore - and no matter what his diseased little brain pumped out, chewie ain't dead - sorry but no one but the originator of a character has the right to kill him.  That's my rule and I stand by it.

I think a lot of fans have varying degrees of what they accept.  I refuse to accept Chewie's death and, as I have not read any of the subsequent books, it has not happened.

lucas said before the making of episode 1 that none of the books represent what actually happened in the star wars universe since he didn't write it

True, but that's the biggest fraggin' cop-out I've ever heard. He had to approve everything that was ever put out about the Star Wars universe. So he actually had to approve Chewie being killed in the first place. Now he goes back and say, "Thanks for all the intersted and royalties, but you guys suck. This is what really happens." I'd like to see George Lucas hit by a buss.
