Allow me to lay your mind at ease. Yes, it's animated, but Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman are working closely with the animators during development, and I have faith in their abilities. They've spent too much time on this series to shill out to a crappy animator. I think that it will end up looking like Lord of the Rings meets the Matrix, in 256 colors. . .

I'm curious what style of animation they're going with, though.

Anime would be wrong, but it's also one of the more popular.

You know, id Squaresoft did it, it would look like a trillion bucks. Love it or hate it, Final Fantasy the movie had stunning graphics. The look of that film was how I've always pictured the Matrix in SR: stunningly realistic, but still obviously artifical.

OF course, however they do this film, I hope it is a triliogy. Compressing the entire War of the Lance into 1 or even 2 movies would just not work. How many people do you think are going to be calling this the Poor Man's Lord of the Rings???

Well... the books lend themselves to superficial comparison.

But the characters are different, and no one will ever mistake Raistlin for Gandalf. Or Tas for Bilbo. Or even Flint for Gimli.

Plus, Tanis kicks ass hands down. And then there's Sturm and Caramon, as well as Goldmoon and... goldmoon's protector. Whatever his name was.

The thought occurs to me though, that they might have made this animated so it wouldn't seem to people like they were trying to make a poor man's LOTR.

I still think the comparison will be made. In fact, when LOTR came out, I thought the if Dragonlance ever made it to the silver screen, it would be held up to LOTR. I guess only time will tell.

No, it looks like it has enough steam for it. Weis and Hickman are deeply involved with making the movie, and they've already started with the animation (and voice-acting) for it.

I want to audition for Kit or maybe Tika. They are the only female characters with ...well...character.

Apparently Weis and Hickman are pretty involved on the project, which I hope means good things for it.

They're also the people who produced the Serenity roleplaying games.
So they're good peoples.

I have yet to play Serenity. But my Racoon shaman just saw the movie and really wanted to wastch the series, so she may be interested in playing the RPG. Here's hoping.
