Well, blue used to be the most annoying, with constant counterspells and mana drains and everything, but by far, the Goblin Deck was the most irritating thing I've ever seen.

Ruski started it as a "well, I have more than four of a card in here, is that okay with you? What card? Mons Goblin Raiders? Oh, that's fine" where he would draw his hand, put down a mana, tap the mana, and cast a goblin.

Second round, puts down another mana and casts two goblins. First goblin attacks.

Third round, puts down another mana, casts the rest of his hand, goblins attack en mas. It doesn't take long for pretty much anything but a land destruction deck to be overwhelmed.
20 mana + 40 goblins = ded for other decks.

He then worked on it to make it Legal, using all the different kinds of goblins, goblin grenades, and goblin kings, so goblins became 5/6 creature with mountainwalk. Which was a little scary. It didn't win as much, though.

I took it an fine-tuned it, and was able to beat just about anything. I mean ANYTHING. I had people who would put a grand into putting together the 'perfect' deck, and I could beat them just as easily.

I eventually showed one of my good friends how I had worked it out, and he took the deck on to win some major tournaments (the ones where you pick up like $500-$1000 for winning), so its legacy hs lived on.

But it started out as an annoying deck that cost... what, $.03 per mana, and $.02 per goblin to make?

No, the goblin deck pretty much killed all.

Of course, I haven't played Magic in like 7 years, so things might have changed in the mean time. Of course, it's just as likely that I would play some kids and kick thier candy asses because they would never have seen any of my cards or see any of it coming.

Sometimes being out of the loop gives you an edge.

Yeah, like my ultimate deck. I've never lost a game with it. EVER. It works like this: First you [Content has been edited for reasons of national security. Have a nice day] and then you do a victory dance.

Actually the only deck that I've never seen lose is my friend's land-destruction deck. It was annoying as hell, because he just won mostly because he had more cards.

Of course, that guy was kind of a jerk in general.

Now THAT would be a hell of a card.

Land Tax: 10 of ANY manna.

Opponent must sacrifice one card from his deck into the graveyard for every 2 lands he has in play. Dual lands counts as two lands per card.

Yeah, see- that was one of my problems with Magic.

They'll make cards like that, sell them for a couple of months, and then outlaw them (or whatever it is they do) Like they didn't know that a card that powerful would unbalance a game. Sheesh. Why not just have more control over what cards you make- playtest them some, and see how they interact with older editions, and then make smaller releases.

But what do I know?
